Service and staff stink, 2 in particular (In the cafeteria) ... you'd think since they work at a CHILDRENS HOSPITAL they would have better manners and/or customer service. It seems like there always being inconvenienced when asking then to make something and/or when you're giving them your order. HELLO?! It's your job... and if you don't like cooking... here's a crazy idea... DON'T BE A COOK OR WORK IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY! You think we want to be there eating cafeteria food?! Our family is here getting medical attention and we're all going through things affecting us physically, mentally and emotionally... the last thing we want to see or hear is bad attitude or lack of service from someone we don't know but is handling our food.

This reviews regarding my son's care after having an orthopedic surgery there by Elizabeth Lamont. I would not recommend this hospital for orthopedic care and after my son's experience I would not take my children for any care to this hospital. My son had surgery there May 31,2023 and 3 weeks after he developed an infection MRSA to be exact. I had to get this diagnosed elsewhere and the PA there Crystal Amanda Ann Fernando decided for his surgeon to access and diagnose him thru pictures because subsequently they refused to see us in the clinic and all they said was his surgical site looks fine take Benadryl and hydrocortisone. I have already sent a full detailed letter to Patient Representatives there.

When my children were younger we were very happy with Cooks Children's and the medical staff at the many locations that they received care at. There were a few conflicts between the doctors and I then over some of my choices that I had decided on. The only conflict was my decision to add chiropractic care to our entire family along with the physical therapy my daughters received for low tone. As my children have gone into adolescence it has become difficult to work with the organization. The doctors refer everything to a specialist within the Cooks network. It takes 3 to 6 months or more to get into a specialist for care. If you need to reschedule for some reason you have to wait even longer than 6 months. Behavioral Health is impossible to get into. The doctors prefer that you use the doctors on their list of outside sources. If you use outside that list or outside Cooks the provider's body language, facial expressions, and remarks prove they are not pleased. There was a point that I had my oldest daughter in Outpatient Psychiatric care. When I shared this with the provider at her wellness check they seemed very unhappy about my decision and the fact I did not consult them. As my older child reached high school she wanted piercings. There were a couple awarded for grades and other accomplishments. Multiple providers at the Alliance location made very condescending remarks about the piercings her choice in hair color. This made my child very uncomfortable and she wanted to move doctors. It was hard to find a doctor outside of Cooks, who treated under 17. The comments towards her made her dread going to the doctor for any reason. Especially the ones that they made about her having a boyfriend in High School. This same daughter has experience with painful cycles that would cause her to miss school. I took her to my gynecologist for treatment instead of a Cooks specialist. This was also frowned upon. Yet it takes months to get into any specialist at Cooks Children. While this was occurring my younger daughter needed specialist care and we did have to wait to get into these specialists. The longest wait was the neurologist. We did get in and tried multiple medications. I was told there needed to be a follow up in three months and it was really hard to schedule it but someone would call me. That call never came. There was a lot of back and forth in the portal. We found something that worked and I was told that I needed to schedule an appointment. At this time our personal life fell apart completely in many different ways and I forgot. When I sent a message into the portal to get a refill for an as needed medication. I received a harshly worded message stating this could not be done because it had been a year and I needed to make an appointment. It basically stated this had been repeated multiple times and this was my lack of planning and ability to follow through with their directions that was causing the circumstances. I called to schedule an appointment and it was 5 months before there was an opening. Today I realized this week that she has a school function she can not miss on that same day. It will now be 7 months before they can get her in and she will have to continue without medication. I asked to change providers. I was told there was nothing that could be done. They do not allow the change of providers. I canceled the appointment. I had seen this daughter's new primary care doctor a few months ago for a wellness visit. She informed me without me asking that she could not write a script for the migraine medication and that only the neurologist can. Also, during this visit this daughter scored low on her mental assessment. After meeting my daughter one time for a short time she decided based on the few questions that she filled out that I needed to take her to a psychiatrist and have her on medication. I informed the provider that she was seeing a psychologist after a death in the family and other family conflicts. She seemed okay with me making those decisions with the help of that provider she was alre

Honestly not sure why people are complaining about this hospital. Obviously if you go to ER there would be a wait. Any ER you go to! Unless you have a symptoms of heart attack! We arrived around 10am today with our 7months old. Service was amazing! Everyone so friendly and courteous. They were very informative and very kind. They had to take chest X-ray on our daughter. And they came in the room with their portable machine. Took X-ray for 10seconds and that was done. Effortless for a baby for sure! PA and nurses were amazing! I would definitely go back. We were there for 2 1/2hours but the whole time they checked on us couple times so we didn't feel like we were being abandoned. And the service is actually really fast.

Their business model is profit above ethics. Terrible place! Charged 15x the cost of the surgery for "facilities fees". Taking advantage of people whose kids need medical care. Completely unethical.

This is a high quality medical center with very nice facilities and medical care. The staff is amazing and have high ethical and moral standards. I recommend this for your child to meet their every need.

My daughter fell from her tree swing onto her head and shoulder on New Year's Day. I could immediately tell that her collarbone was broken because it was trying to come out the top of her shoulder and the width of her shoulder was no longer there. It was squished in like she didn't have a shoulder. We stopped at my fiancé's office to x-ray it so that we wouldn't have to wait to be seen. He is a chiropractor. When we showed the x-ray to the nurse at the front desk, they immediately took us back. When Dr Neil Evans saw us, he said they needed their own X-rays. The x-ray tech came in and had my 12-year-old daughter lie flat on her back and then tried to shove the x-ray plate underneath her broken side. I kept telling them to just sit the bed back up and put the x-ray plate behind her, but they wouldn't listen. They then come back and say that it's a simple fracture and that it will heal. I try to tell the doctor that it's sticking up and you can see it, tried to get him to look at the X-ray on my phone. He refused. They sent us home with anti inflammatories for pain and said she was good to go to school. So thankful that we had the X-ray from Harris Chiropractic. I posted it on a Facebook group called Tanglewood moms and had doctors, nurses and X-ray techs reach out to me and say that she needed immediate surgery. A PA with Fort Worth orthopedics reached out to me and said they would see me first thing Tuesday morning. They took more x-rays and my daughters collarbone was broken in two places, and they said that one bump to her shoulder or bad bump in the car and it would've come through her skin. Dr. Bothwell was sent the x-rays and he came in from his vacation to perform emergency surgery on my daughter. I have reached out to Cooks twice and they have sent me letters saying that their medical staff had given my daughter appropriate care. Obviously, it wasn't appropriate care. They were sending her back to school, said that she didn't need surgery, and only gave her anti-inflammatories for pain. The orthopedic surgeons office instantly gave her codeine for pain, did surgery and pulled her from school. They said that the damage that could've been done had she not gotten surgery would've been irreversible. Come to find out, a broken clavicle should be X-rayed upright unless it's too painful to sit up. My daughter was sitting up. Lying down was extremely painful. Cooks even grabbed her by the broken shoulder to try to roll her to get the X-ray plate under her. we drove from Arlington thinking she would receive good care there. DO NOT take your kids here. They don't know what they are doing. My daughter now has a plate and stews holding the 3 sections of collarbone together. So thankful to Dr Dolce and Dr Bothwell, along with all of their staff. The fact that Cooks keeps defending their treatment, instead of changing how they treat broken clavicles, tells me that they don't care. They will continue to take X-rays of broken collarbones on kids with them on their backs, thus not showing the severity of the break, and sending them home to have life long problems.

I hate coming here. Rude staff and still waiting in a room. No one checks on you. My son has a 104 fever- no urgency... it's the middle of the night and not busy at all. Yet waiting and waiting. Figure it out Cooks!!!!

AWESOME! I've never had an experience like this at a hospital! My son was sick and we took him to two facilities that didn't seem to help him. We brought him here and it was like he was the only patient in the hospital! First class service the whole way. This is the only healthcare facility my family will use in the future!

I checked out Zooty Fruity frozen yogurt shop while my daughter was at Cook Children's Medical Center. They've got a bunch of gluten free options and list them on their board and on the yogurt machines. One of our nurses recommended the Super Food smoothie which I quite enjoyed. I also enjoyed snacking on the marshmallow bar from @sweetstreetdesserts! It was like a gourmet rice crispy treat.

My son had an anaphylactic reaction to food he had eaten. I administered his prescribed epipen at home and he was taken by ambulance to Cook Children's Hospital. He was seen by nurses right away but we had to wait 45 minutes for a doctor to see him. Not a lot was done. He was hooked up to a heart and oxygen monitor, which is pretty standard for hospital care. He was given an IV, a steroid for inflammation, Pepcid and Zyrtec. He broke out in hives so I asked if we could get some cortisone cream for him. They said we will talk to the pharmacist. Never received any. Since his hives were so severe they suggested we stay over night. We were at the hospital for about 19 hours total. We received our negotiated rate for the hospital bill in the mail a few weeks later. It was just over 10,000 dollars. Our portion was just over 8,000 dollars! The ER Doctor told us to not have any doubts when it comes to administering an epipen but at $$$$$$10 thousand a pop no wonder people are dying in one of the wealthiest countries in the world! How is 10,000 dollars for less then 24 hours in a hospital justifiable!? No MRI, No CPR, No Oxygen was done. He saw one doctor for 10 min, a Nurse Practitioner when he was admitted overnight for 15 min and the next day another Nurse Practitioner when he was being released, for 10 min. I called to ask if there was anything that could be done to lower this bill and to ask how is the justifiable. The billing person had no compassion. She didn't say, let me see what I could do to help. She just started to recite the bill to me. Lady I can read, I thought to myself. Then she said I will have to appeal with the insurance. Healthcare has gone to Hell! The hospital appeared very clean and the staff while we were there especially the nurses were very friendly but that is all I can say.Needless to say I will not be going to Cook Children's hospital for care. It's unfortunate because my kid's pediatrician is part of the Cook network, which we love him. Once he retires we will be seeking care away from Cook Children's.My son is only 3 years old, sadly this will be an ongoing situation throughout his entire life especially if healthcare does not change. He has many life threatening food allergies that aren't going away. Who can afford bills like this? Unbelievably frustrating!

Food is good, but watch for expensive items that add up, especially those that don't have a strict price listed, like the salad bar (i see no price listed actually).$4.60 for a small amount of pasta salad, probably worth $0.75. However, large 1/4 lb burger and onion rings with 16oz drink are just over $5.00. One is a horrible value, the other not too bad. Otherwise expect $12 per adult and $8 per child per meal if you're not careful and get salad, entree, drink and dessert.Supposed to get a free medium drink with burger, opted to get an upside drink but they charged full price instead of paying the difference. There is a sign posted about getting an upsize for additional charge, but it makes no sense as now that i look at it it's for water which is free.NO FREE REFILLS! Don't even think about getting a free refill scumbag. Huge signs. Not A sign, but multiple signs and even stickers. Really? This is a black eye on the entire hospital system over a few ounces of drink per person.Show us your food, please lift the lid so we know that you're not lying to us at checkout. Scumbag. We're watching you.Harris cafeteria next door has better food and lower prices. No free refills. Did I mention that? Scumbag.Others here are complaining as i sit here writing this review about being overcharged for their food. Sounds like they're doing customer service training maybe, clearly this is an issue.
