My mom and I like to meet at wineries/ wine bars once a month that halfway for us (parents live in Crystal Lake and I live in LaSalle). Goat and Vine was an excellent restaurant with delicious food and a variety of top notch wines! On top of that, our server made our first time experience that much better; I highly recommend!!

I really didn’t want to have to do this, but I gave Goat & Vine Restaurant + Winery a month to correct this situation, and sadly they have not. I would not want anyone to get taken advantage of and ripped off like we did, so here it goes! My mom and I booked a party here for the dinner after my dad’s memorial service. It was a very long, emotional week and easily the hardest days of my life so far. When we booked the package for 30 people, they told us the server would keep an eye on the trays and refill them when they were low. After all, isn’t that the whole point of hiring a “professional” establishment…to not have to worry about anything?! We had: 1 bowl of bread, 1 bowl of lettuce (can’t even qualify as a salad bc there was nothing else in it), 1 tray of chicken, 1 tray of *undercooked* gnocci, 1 tray of broccoli and 1 tray of potatoes. This was supposed to be unlimited refills for 2 hours. THEY NEVER REFILLED THE TRAYS. 🤯 (they refilled the undercooked gnocchi, please see the photo, and some potatoes at the VERY end when a guest finally said something to our server, Megan. But mostly everyone was gone at this point bc it was over.) The server barely served nor refilled any soft drinks which were also supposed to be included. When we talked to our guests afterwards, they all said it took forever to get any drinks and went up for more food, but there was none left. Beyond disappointing. My mom and I had NO clue this happened bc we were busy talking to our friends and family and didn’t notice everyone going up for more food and leaving empty handed. None of our guests said anything to us at the time bc they thought that was all we paid for! How embarrassing. I would never have expected to have to micromanage an event that we paid mandatory gratuity for…since that is their job and not ours. (And fyi I worked in the service industry for at least 15 years as a server and bartender. I would never expect the party to tell me to do my job.) Chocolate covered strawberries were supposed to be included for 30 people, there were maybe 15. We paid EXTRA for chocolate cake, but they were out, so they took it upon themselves to substitute their chocolate mint cake and it was horrible. No one ate it…and they still charged us even though it’s not even what we ordered. At the end when I realized nothing was ever refilled, Megan ran off to get the manager, Angela. Angela told me, “since you ordered for 30 people, we gave 40 pieces of chicken. If you wanted more, you would’ve had to pay for more.” (I did not see the chicken, but guests said the pieces were small.) Not that they refilled anything else anyway! At this point, I’m so confused and exhausted, I thought maybe I misunderstood the initial agreement. The next day when I realized I was correct and it was supposed to be unlimited for 2 hours, I spoke with Angela again and she said, “ Megan said everyone was done eating…” EXCUSE ME…WHAT?!?! How did the server that was barely around and couldnt even keep up with drinks, decide that a party of 30 people is done after 4 trays?!?!!! Her job was to refill when empty, not to decide everyone was done when they weren’t. And why not ask the people paying for the party if everyone is done?! Also, interesting how Angela changed her story. 🤔 To sum this up, they completely dropped the ball and did not deliver their end of the contract. WE DID NOT GET WHAT WE PAID FOR… NOT EVEN CLOSE. They KNOW IT and they REFUSE to refund for what we did not receive. The restaurant was not busy at this time. Someone else should have been helping if it was too much for one person to handle. They were incompetent and we suffered the consequences of it. We paid $2,500 for not even $1,000 worth of food/drinks if we had just paid for trays. They have offered gift cards and a free dinner, but that will not nearly amount to what we completely overpaid. Dealing with them unsuccessfully for a month when we have enough to take care of is an additional slap in the face from them after they completely failed this important day for us. Do yourselves

My experience at Goat and Vine was amazing. My wife had heard so many great things about this restaurant so we decided to try it for our anniversary. Our server Forrest made it as close to perfection as you can get!

He was so attentive to not only our needs, but the needs of every table around us. He really made our night special and made us feel like family.

Not to mention the food was absolutely out of this world as well!

Outside of the food being great, our service was phenomenal!!! Forrest was awesome and hit all his recommendations on the mark. He made what was supposed to be just a normal date night into a special night for us. We will be back.

Such a cute restaurant. Our server was super kind, answered all of our questions and accommodated our requests. His name was Forrest and he suggested the best appetizers and wine! Definitely will be back.

First visit and sadly was not impressed. Restaurant and vibe are cute, staff is friendly but everything else is completely lacking. There were no guests in the entire restaurant, which should have been a huge red flag on a weekend mid-day. The wine offered is one label. It is more of a cheap house wine. The meatball appetizer was completely cold. Based just on these two things; we chose to go elsewhere for main entrees, especially when the wine and appetizers were $80. Price isn’t an issue when the quality is amazing.
It will not be a place that will be visited again.

Tracy (our server) and Zach(the bartender) were great. The atmosphere and decor is also very nice, that being said, the food was bland, portions stingy and orders inconsistent. It took over 45 minutes for our party to be served and some dishes came out after others had finished eating. When the manager was requested, he declined to speak with us because he had more important party to tend to and apparently, and I quote, " can't be in two places at one time". I had high hopes for this restaurant, as it was my first time here. I will never go back.

I was here for my mother's 84th birthday. Tracy the waitress was great! However, my mother's birthday lunch was ruined because they were overbooked and it took an hour before we received any food at our table, and we didn't received food at the same time. We received food each person over a course of 40 minutes. They took care a of a party outside before they took care of us and we were here first. Some of the guest ordered the same dish but the plating was different. This was not a good experience at all. The manager, Gabriel was not apologetic at all. The waitress, Tracy did the best she could given the situation.

I would like to start be saying Zach, the bartender was great and welcoming and Tracy, our server was fantastic and did her best to salvage a horrible experience. That being said, we will start with the fact that the food was mediocre at best. There was a lack of flavor in the fat goat that myself, husband and mother in law ordered. One of my sisters in law ordered the chicken and waffles and had to send it back twice because the chicken was burned. She ended up not eating anything. When the manager (Gabriel) was requested, he declined to come speak with our party because apparently a larger party was more important. He did eventually come to our table about a half hour or so after the request was made to apologize and inform us that unfortunately he can't be in two places at once. The only thing he had for us were excuses, instead of addressing the situation at the outset to offer solutions. So, thanks to Gabriel and his inability to multitask, my mother in law's 84th birthday was ruined.
