The staff was great, the building was clean and well kept, and the food was okay.
We had brisket, ribs, bacon burnt ends, and pulled pork.
The burnt ends were fantastic, but everything else was just okay. It was something that we could reproduce at home or even do better.
Nothing was bad but most of the food we had was just okay.
The meats were dry and not tender, but the flavor was decent. The bacon burnt ends stole the show and I really wanted to give 4 stars because of it, but everything else was just okay.
The sides were probably better than the meat. The onion rings and Mac and cheese were delicious.

I really want to rate higher because the service was good, atmosphere was nice, and we had a nice time. The problem is we don't have a desire to return so I didn't feel like I should.

TEXAS BBQ AT ITS BEST ! Don’t go crazy looking for a place close to the Stock Yards with great affordable bbq ! This is it ! Brisket ribs and even the turkey ( which i don’t usually like ) was delicious ! The Green chilli Mac and cheese is a must ! I have to shout out the worker Yugo ! This guy was all over the place . Cleaning - setting up tables - greeting customers - he even filled up the Minute Maid lemonade that was out ! Give this guy a raise asap . Is workers like him that make you come back more and more. Being an ex restaurant owner you see other food joints with a different eye and I tell you this guy Yugo is one of those that just stands out! Great job to the rest of the staff also . The place was clean organized and the food was Amazing ! We will def be back !

I got the bacon burnt ends and was quite disappointed. 1/4 lb. was 5 pieces and they were so dry (and hard) I could barely eat them. I got green beans and okra as my sides and they were a disappointing as the burnt ends. The green beans had an “off” flavor that I didn’t care for and the breading on the okra was soggy instead of crunchy like it should be. I was in town for pre-futurity and really looked forward to getting some great BBQ while I was there. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

Heim Barbecue on the River is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you pull in, you’ll notice there is tons of parking available—huge plus! The building itself is large and inviting, with plenty of seating both inside and out. They even have a spacious covered patio and an outdoor open play area where you can bring your dog or let your kids run around while you enjoy your meal. It’s the perfect setup for families, friends, and anyone who just wants to relax and enjoy some incredible BBQ.

Now, let’s talk about the food… I ordered the 3-meat plate with brisket, sausage, and their legendary bacon burnt ends. The brisket was unbelievably juicy and tender—it literally fell apart with the slightest pull. The bacon burnt ends? A flavor explosion. It’s like a party in your mouth with every bite! The sausage was packed with flavor, and the mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. Every single item on my plate was a hit.

The environment is spacious, clean, and welcoming. The staff were super friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better.

I can’t recommend Heim Barbecue enough—whether it’s your first time or your hundredth, you’ll walk away happy. This place is a true gem, and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Do yourself a favor and go. And yes, get the bacon burnt ends—you’ll thank me later. 😋

We have visited this place many times in the past two years and we THOUGHT we had found the best bbq in Fort Worth. This Friday we took my parents for the first time to Heim BBQ and was shocked at how disappointing the food was. I’m not sure if they have sold out to become more corporate, but I wanted to go hide after bragging about it to my parents. I guess all good things must come to an end!

Placed a to go order for a salad. Arrived at the Heim White Settlement location to pick up order. Asked if the store still provides military discount and was informed discount only provided when in uniform. That's truly sad when any service member or veteran can provide his or her military ID to verify their service. I cannot support the business when they do not recognize Veterans. Will not go back to any Heims location.

As a military member, it is heartwarming to receive such a great support and discount for lunch. Amazing atmosphere, friendly staff, and truly outstanding food reels me back to this location every time. Heim’s briskets give me strength to carry on my mission. Thanks guys!

Visited yesterday for some to go bbq. A brisket meat plate was 1 skinny slice. A pork rib meat plate was 3 little dried out ribs. The sides were better than the meat.
So much for this place. I won’t be back.

We went there for the first time, after having just moved to Fort Worth from AZ. It won’t be the last time. The burnt bacon ends were superb!

More of what I would call upscale BBQ place. Pulled pork was good and the brisket was ok. The real star of the show was the twice baked potato salad, that stuff is amazingly good. The pinto beans were ok, got more onion than beans though. Cole slaw was alright and the Mac & Cheese was good as well. Overall good experience.

This was, hands down, the worst BBQ we’ve ever had. We honestly feel like we got robbed.

The cashier had no clue what they were doing — couldn’t answer basic questions about the menu and clearly had no training or interest in helping. That set the tone, and somehow, the food managed to be even worse.

The brisket? Literal beef jerky. Dry, tough, flavorless. An embarrassment to Texas BBQ. The turkey was somehow even drier — think Thanksgiving turkey left in the oven for six hours and then reheated in a microwave. No seasoning, no smoke, no moisture.

The “famous” bacon burnt ends were just… fine. Not great, not worth the hype. Beans were plain and forgettable. And the green chile mac? No flavor at all. Tasted like someone cooked pasta and forgot the cheese — and forgot the chile.

This place is a joke. If you’re looking for real Texas BBQ, do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else. Heim is all name, no substance. Never again.

Ordered 3 orders of burnt ends. Only 12 oz. Evidently they weighed the cups too so in my opinion you should get what you paid for especially with high prices. $8 for 3 little pieces of meat is a joke.

Easily one of my favorite BBQ joints. They have incredible meats and lots of side options. This location is very kid friendly inside and out! The large patio and turf area is great for babies and kids! Will always be my goto for BBQ and easy hang outs.
