Stopped in for a muffuletta sandwich, which was highly recommended ... I was truly disappointed ... the bread was good, but Jimmy's failed on the filling ... barely any olive salad, and really skimpy on the meat and cheese ... I'll do better ar Jason's Deli ...

You could not have asked for better customer service. And speedy service. Menu, Italian butcher shop, and true Italian food store. You couldn’t ask for better.

This place has old neighborhood charm. If you want slick marketing, and higher prices, go to the suburbs.

I decided to venture to Jimmy's Food Store after reading a brief excerpt in Food and Wine. This is definitely a "no frills" market. A bit disorganized for sure. Definitely a decent wine selection. I picked up a few specialty food items and decided I would try their Italian sandwich. The meats were tasty the bread was not. If they paired with a local bakery who provided a decent sub roll they might have a winner. The bread was dry. They need to work on a special oil as well. Who wants mayo on an Italian? Yikes. I sensed a bit of apathy at Jimmy's for sure. Strange location as well. Gotta be honest, not sure it was worth the trip. Also, say goodbye to the plexiglass.

When I last visited Jimmys I was able to purchase specialty Jamaican & Italian food items that I was unable to find in other stores

This is an authentic Italian store and meat market with to go sandwiches. Where else in Texas can you go and get EVERYTHING Italian?

Yummy sandwiches! We were nearby so we grabbed some sandwiches. Everything is to-go right now. There is no where to eat inside or outside. Because it is also a deli and almost grocery store there are lots of people coming in and out. Also lots of parking with most of the surrounding stores empty.

So today I went by myself but I usually have family in tow. My husband and I drive over 50 miles regularly just to get provisions to hold us a few days. I’ll just tell you some of my favorite things that I do not leave without. I bring an ice chest or two so I am free to get all I need of whatever I need. When you walk in go to the counter and order a glass of vino to sip on while you shop. $4 and it’s always good. Red, white or rosé! Always go to the deli counter. Get the fontina fontal cheese, prosciutto, Sicilian olives, an Italian sub and a muffuletta. (Cold if you’re going to heat it at home, warm if you’re eating it soon) Don’t eat a cold muff! While you’re back there grab the tiramisu and Italian cream cake if you can find it in stock. Send your sweetie down the vino isle to stock up on wine. Paul stocks wine from every region in Italy. If you’re stumped he will help you choose. Try a nice Sicilian! Go to the olive oils and balsamics. A nice olive oil I like to get for drizzling and dipping is Il Borro EVOO Organic (Ferragamo family). When I was in Italy I fell in love with Giuseppe Giusti Balsamic Vinegar. I was SOOOO happy to find it at Jimmy’s!!! It’s sublime! (I like the red label). Right behind you you’ll find the fresh mozzarella in the refrigerator. Also Stocks & Bondy has some yummy stocks and soups for sale here! My kids LOVE the Martello pastas. (They get them in their stockings every year for Christmas along with Jimmy’s gift cards.) Now over to the freezer section. Pastosa’s pastas are frozen ready made dinners. Put a sauce over them, heat them in the microwave and grab some of Tony’s focaccia and you have a fabulous dinner that so easy! At Valentine’s Day they carry heart shaped pasta so you can cook for your sweetie! Also frozen, grab some of their pizza dough. Oh my gosh, it makes the best crispy, bubbly pizzas! (Toppings are in the deli area) Another great thing that we always keep in our freezer is their frozen cookie dough. Dallas Rocks cookies or plain chocolate chip can’t be beat. 15 minutes in your oven and you can always have fresh, warm cookies!! Mike keeps a nice produce section with beautiful tomatoes and lovely items fresh from the local farmers. If you’re Italian or just like Italian food THIS is the place for you!! At Easter, Christmas, etc they always have the specialty items that all Italians long for. Go look around! I bet you’re closer than I am! It’s a fun day to walk around and see all of their delicious, special things.

I dont get the hype. When I entered, I wondered if I was in the right place. It was so dark. I tried a sandwich- gave it to my husband and he said, "It was ok. I hated the bread." I had a few bites and they did not skimp out on the meat. I bought a 3 oz. White truffle butter which made my homemade pasta taste rich and delicious. Yes I understand real white truffles are expensive. I got anchovies and pizza crusts but have not tried those yet. I was overall a bit disappointed. I can see how this is a neighborhood family Italian joint though. I am wondering if I am missing something with all these 5 star reviews!

Jimmies is a refreshing shopping experience of authentic Italian provisions and an exceptional wine selections at impressively fair prices. Family owned & operated with a very capable and devoted staff, Jimmies will win you over and make you a regular customer.

Always a treat to shop here. You feel like you’re on the set of the movie “Moonstruck”, waiting to see/hear one of the Castorini’s or their extended family. Their selection of Italian wines is fabulous, their butcher counter is second to none, but most of all, their staff and owners are attentive and very helpful - even grateful. You’ll always find something you want - always....homemade lasagna, meatballs, desserts and pasta sauce.....it’s my weekly obsession.

Found this Italian Foos Store on Tripadvisor and decided to stop in. Reminded me of the Italan market that my family had back in Connecticut. Homemade sausage ALMOST as food as my father made and the best that I had since that time. Left with 4 lbs. of sausage and will be back for more! Huge selection of imported Italian foods that had me acting like a kid in a candy store.

How can you be closed for the busiest time lunch??

Love this store in East Dallas. It is kind of crowded at times. The handmade meat balls are good. They are very dense and heavy when cooked. I usually cut mine in half before I cook them. The homemade pastas and sauces are a great adventure to expand your tastes. The veggie sandwich is my absolute favorite. All the sandwiches are great but this one is just really good to me.
