The Old Neighborhood Grill was a beloved neighborhood haunt that served up consistently great food, from breakfast to dinner. The menu featured a wide variety of options, including classic BLTs, grilled salmon, and an impressive selection of sides like fried green tomatoes, broccoli cheese casserole, and corn fritters. Customers were encouraged to check the daily specials and extras on the board, as the menu was constantly evolving.
The staff was described as terrific and accommodating, whether you were dining in or ordering takeout. The small space could get quite busy during rush hours, but the quick table turnover ensured that everyone was able to enjoy the cozy, old-fashioned atmosphere. The restaurant was also praised for its vegetarian options, dietary accommodations, and kid-friendly menu. The food was so good, there were no leftovers. The Grilled chicken club tasted so fresh, not like a normal grilled taste but like a smoked outdoorsy taste. The chicken tenders looked and tasted homemade. The feel of the place was real old timey yet comfy. The people were sweet.
Recently, many visitors expressed how much they loved the atmosphere and customer service. The food was described as beyond delicious, with recommendations like chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and white gravy, and breakfast options such as taco omelette and pork chops and eggs. The place's close proximity to the hospital makes it a convenient spot for lunch or dinner. Customers enjoyed dishes like pot roast tacos, burgers, and child’s platters of fish and chicken fingers, which both kids and adults loved. Sides like fried okra and corn fritters received high praise, and leftovers were common. On Sundays before 11 am, breakfast offerings like blueberry pancakes, pecan pancakes, and French toast made everyone happy and full. Many plan to return whenever they are in town.
This place is a wonderful, local neighborhood spot. It briefly closed but re-opened with the same cooks and mostly the same staff, including a new manager who had worked there before. The restaurant was freshened up with new paint, flooring, tablecloths, and chairs but maintained its friendly, homey feel. Known for having the best breakfast in Fort Worth, the quality remains high. Every breakfast item, from pancakes to omelets, eggs, and biscuits, is stellar. They serve good Community Coffee. Although lunch and dinner haven't been tried yet, the consistency of the cooks suggests those meals are just as outstanding as before.
Overall, ONG continues to be the place to go for home-cooking excellence, warm service, and a friendly, hometown atmosphere in Fort Worth.
