Food is fantastic. Great seasoning on the food and delicious fries. Great spot to also watch sports too but its not very busy to watch football.

Pulled up to The Cookshak the other night, you know how it goes—needed that comfort, that real flavor after a long week. That fried chicken sandwich? Straight fire. Crispy on the outside, juicy as hell inside, bun toasted just right, slaw and sauce hittin' different. Took one bite and felt like I was back home, no cap. Fries on the side seasoned perfect, not too much, not too little. Then the platter—tenders stacked high, golden and crunchy, ribs fallin' off the bone with that smoky BBQ pull. Mixed it all up, dipped in the house sauce... man, it was a vibe. Solid 8/10, ain't changin' my life but damn sure hittin' the spot when you crave that Southern heat. My wife and I took our family of seven out to try The Cookshack in Ft Worth for the first time. When we went to the counter to attempt our order, the manager Brandon could clearly read the confusion on our faces trying to order seven people’s food at once. He recognized it was our first time there, and he calmly and patiently explained which orders he recommended, and thoroughly explained all the different options that might be best for us (including a few new options that hadn’t quite been added to the permanent menu just yet). Not only did this tremendously improve our experience as first-time diners, it also very likely reduced our total bill to avoid ordering multiples of the same items. Once our family had eaten our dinners, Brandon politely offered some complimentary dessert to our five kids as a way of thanking us for giving them a try. You simply do not find that level of kindness and quality in service (and taste!) very often. I cannot recommend this place enough, and will absolutely be bringing our mongrel horde back again!

The food is good if you dine in. I would advise against ordering takeout because the quality nosedives (dry chicken, soggy Mac and cheese). They have previously neglected to include salad dressing for a salad and would only refund a partial amount, charging us $9 for a handful of dry kale and soggy chicken. Recently they neglected to include sauces for our sandwich that were supposed to be on the side. This is in stride with the general culture in here in Fort Worth where establishments struggle to consistently provide good quality food and service and retain a well trained staff. It is very normal to order to-go food in this town, pay for something and not get it.
As of 11/4/2025 at 1:23pm I went into the restaurant to order takeout. They did EVERYTHING but help me. The cashier refills cups, one guy takes the thrash out, someone else is refilling the sauces. It took them 8 minutes to help me. No one was needing help but me. When my order came out it was first, but she took them out of the heat lamp in reverse order. So everyone that came in after me got their food first. My food wasn’t even hot once I finally got it. The whole crew was Hispanic so I don’t know if they were ignoring me on purpose since I am an African American female. I honestly don’t think I will eat there anymore. I really don’t like the service that I received. I got no smiles and no thank you. I am a very nice and pleasant older person. There was absolutely no reason to receive this poor quality of service. I can no longer recommend this place….
