The schnitzel was delicious. The potato salad and red cabbage were okay, just not what I am used to. I've grown up with homemade potato salad (chunky and served cold) and red cabbage, and this potato salad was more similar to slightly sweet mashed potatoes (served warm), while the red cabbage was also a bit too sweet for my taste.
Loved the atmosphere, old stone walls and cozy finishes. And the waitresses were very welcoming and helpful.

Good German food on Main Street. A bit overpriced for what it is but still overall reasonable. It’s got a cute vibe. Wish the menu was bigger!

The service was definitely not authentic German. We waited for 5 minutes and were not acknowledged at all in spite of multiple waitresses. I recommend going to one of the other restaurants.

Good food and cold beer. Prices for the lunch seemed very high especially being a pork cut.

My wife was up most of the night throwing up. Guess that’s all I need to say.

Don’t eat here. I was charged extra for everything and I had a table of 5 people that they autograted 46% tip on. When they only auto grated tables of 6 or more. Shady service terrible food. I would never come here again and I don’t recommend anyone to dine here again. The server wrote in chicken scratch where you can’t even comprehend the receipt as you can see in the pictures. Terrible service and terrible way of running the restaurant. They think since it’s a drinking town they can get one up on a drunk customer. Little did they know I’m the designated driver and can actually comprehend. All the Food was terrible except the potato soup.

The food was delicious and our hostess was fantastic. We beat the dinner crowd in, so we had the place to ourselves for the most part.

This restaurant has a little more of an old school, authentic German vibe. I've eaten here a few times and it is always a big portion and delicious. This time I wanted something a little lighter and got the smaller portion of the Hungarian stew over herbed egg noodles. The food and service were speedy. The stew hit the spot and tasted like something perhaps your grandmother made.

The Schnitzel is very good, but the sauces we tired that go with them, not so much. Too sweet. Didn't like the extra surprise charge for using a credit card either. Nevertheless, they were nice and service was good.

As a 3rd generation German immigrant, the food at Der Lindenbaum was just as tasty as my German family’s cooking, and, the German food I ate, while living in southern Bavaria. If you want to try authentic German food, Der Lindenbaum Restaurant is the place for you. It felt like home from the time we stepped in the door. Friendly staff, excellent service and the most amazing food. Love, love love this place and cannot wait to come back. Save room for dessert. The apple streudel was delicious.
My husband had the Weiner Schnitzel, and I had the daily special, knockwurst/bratwurst with red cabbage, sauerkraut and potato salad, and homemade bread.

We went here for my mother's birthday. It's a quaint little place that used to be a bakery, I think. The atmosphere is old world cozy. Our waitress was friendly and helpful, and when my mother asked for tea, she brought over lots of options for her to choose from. Like a true German, she was glad to see empty plates when we were done, LOL.
That being said, the food seems to be hit or miss. We started with a bread basket with butter, and the marbled bread was tasty. Three of us, myself included, ordered schnitzel, which was very good, well cooked and crispy. The potatoes are excellent, very soft and flavorful, and we all liked the red cabbage. My mother ordered the goulash, which she said was not like what she had when she and dad lived in Germany, plus the meat was tough. My kid sister had the spaghetti, which she said was 'light on flavor.' Meaning bland. None of us got bratwurst or the salads, so I can't comment on those.
Overall, this is a nice place with good service, but there are other German restaurants in Fredericksburg where the food is more outstanding, so we probably won't be back.

The jaegerschnitzel was fantastic, very crispy and tender, despite the generous portion of gravy served on it.
