This was by far the most disappointing dining experience I’ve had in Fredericksburg. From the moment we arrived, the service lacked professionalism, especially at the hostess stand, which set a poor tone for the evening. I ordered the pork chop expecting steakhouse-quality, but was served a dry, overcooked, and burnt piece of meat that honestly reminded me of something I could pick up prepackaged at HEB. My father-in-law had the chicken scallopini, which was similarly dry, overcooked, and completely lacking in flavor. Given the prices, we were expecting a much higher standard of food and service. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short on all fronts.

We had such a wonderful experience at Jack’s Chop House! Even on a busy Saturday night, the service was outstanding. Our waiter, Ignacio, was absolutely charming, helpful, and attentive throughout the evening. He made sure everything was perfect and added such a welcoming touch to our night out. The food was delicious, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this spot for both the amazing dishes and the top-notch service, thank you, Ignacio, for making our dinner so enjoyable!

Sooooo, we saw Jack’s over the weekend and were curious. We were from Houston celebrating my birthday and my husband wanted to go because he wanted to try their $55 lamb we heard about. We had been on our Harley, and had baseball hats with jeans. Went inside and it was way beyond casual. That should have been a red flag. The maitre d’ offered to sit us outside because they were “completely booked”; however, the tables were empty. I was perplexed to say the least. I don’t know why my food critic sense didn’t set in….we were being turned away. We left to go to The Restaurant at Albert and it dawned on me. I’ve been coming to Fredericksburg my entire life including many of business trips and I’ve never! You can keep your dress code, Jack’s. And guess what? “Cowboys” wear baseball caps, too (sign out front says “cowboys with hats” are accepted.) You don’t have to ever worry about turning me away again or anyone I know. Thank you Lord there are other options in my beautiful Fredericksburg. By the way, I gave them one star for offering to sit us outside; at least they didn’t ask us to leave like the peasants. LOL
