Good overall experience. Good German food. Good wine choices. Very small place. Reservations required, but not hard to get a few days in advance. Hostess didn't know anything about wine, fireplace was disabled even though it was in the low 40s outside and a strong chill inside. Too cold for me. Ambiance was okay. Maybe could use some appropriate music at a low volume. I'd consider coming back, but wouldn't rule out other German food places nearby. I'd say it was as-good, but not better than others. They need to do something to stand out.
Food and drinks were excellent. Service, not so much. Drink order was completely wrong. 0 for three drinks were correct. Salad missed entirely in the food order. Table has a remnant from the prior meal, which I cleaned. The food and price point require that the service improve.
Terrible attitude From servers. Really bad costumer service.

Great food. Tried some things for the first time. We dined at the bar so had a captive staff.

We had reservations for our 54 th anniversary for two weeks. We were disappointed to have been seated on the patio. We were seated next to a couple with a husky DOG. Fine dining restaurant?? He was well behaved, but he is a dog and he smelled strong odor of Dog. Oh, we love dogs..ours stays home!
We were very rushed, server was clearly unhappy that we wanted to take our time. The entrees came quickly, and both were not moist and tasty. We are from Idaho, traveling to our son in Houston. We came last year, and the experience was wonderful. We will not be coming to Otto’s again

Good service, nice atmosphere. Food was not very authentic. I can see why most American people like it. But if you have had a lot of German style food, the authenticity is just not there which was a little disappointing.

The first thing out of my mouth when my husband and I walked out of the restaurant was “I can’t believe that was a hundred dollars”. The pierogies were chewy and the potatoes were grainy and the whole thing felt overcooked. The duck schnitzels only flavor was cherry. We came to the conclusion that their dishes are not made with love, just have been thrown together so many times. This was a hard one to take in with Cafe Dimona and El Quincho in the same trip. Our waitress was beyond sweet.
This place had a different feel when compared to the online presentation, and the prices said high end dining, but the atmosphere and quality of the food did not match the costs. The servers were good, but overall I would say the food was not worth it. I would look elsewhere for german food.

Restaurantji Recommends
I had a delicious dinner with my friends here and the service was excellent. Highly recommend for a great dinner spot!
We frequent Fredericksburg as we live about an hour and a half away and Otto’s has always been our number one restaurant while visiting. Sadly that has come to an end. We like a dinning experience and not the getter in getter out experience like you would have at a restaurant like Chili’s. We were told we had one hour to eat our dinner, never made it past our apps, and then we could move to the bar or a table if available. Given that we had reservations we weren’t too impressed and didn’t stay for the main course. On occasion we’ve been given a 2 hour limit but an hour? If you want a place to have a relaxed dinner and you’re not in a hurry find a different restaurant. Fredericksburg has way too many restaurants that can provide excellent food along with an excellent experience. Otto’s is definitely not the place.
