This place was highly recommended by a few people we know. The food was interesting (I got the crepes & the other 3 got the Brautwurst Dog). Mine tasted like lasagna. The crepe was more like a big noodle. The other 3 said their Brat dog was good.
Only 1 bathroom. Where we were sitting was in the back by the exit. Every time the door opened, the heat from outside (100° outside) came inside.
Quaint little place. We were told by locals, the breakfast is what its all about. Now, they tell us.

Unexpected but what a fun little accident that we found this place. Hubs got the sausage red beans and rice and he was raving about it... and do not leave without getting the bread pudding, it's ridiculous.

Starling Summer
My mom and I went here because we saw the menu outside on the street and the mushroom and Swiss burger looked really good. The atmosphere is so cool being in a basement. Our server, a young guy with cool hair, was very nice and laughed at our bad jokes. And I would assume the manager/owner was very kind to us and she asked us if we needed anything and we chatted a bit too. Overall super great service and staff. The burger was the *perfect* mushroom and Swiss burger. Didn’t fall apart, and the brioche bun was a spectacular choice to help balance the heartiness of the mushrooms and burger. Next time we visit Fredericksburg we’ll stop by for sure.

We ordered the duck off the breakfast menu and it was terrible. Fat wasn't rendered off and the entire dish just seemed like it was steamed. Coffee was undrinkable. Wait staff was non-existent

We walked in and seated ourselves since no one acknowledged us. After waiting over ten minutes with no one coming to our table, I had to ask for menus. The place wasn’t even busy. We never had a server come to the table and we ended up walking out. Would not recommend

Food was good. Basic Sysco fare. Jot much of a draw other than I wanted to try it. We went for breakfast. There are better options but the food was good. It was just packaged food. I will not be back.
This is a cool little spot. Really cool how you enter a cellar to go to this restaurant. One suggestion I have for the cooks is the crab dip should be served cold if possible. It is like a chunky avocado pico mix with crab. It being steaming hot through me off. I do not know if the crab needs to be hot but the hot avocado was not my cup of tea. The spinach and artichoke dip was delicious. We were just stopping in for a quick end to the day bite as we were full from walking the Main Street and sampling wines.

I've been to this building multiple times over the last 3 decades. I'm not sure these folks were here in the 90s, but I have enjoyed this place each time. I even took my wife here on our honeymoon. Great place.

Hidden gem that you have to check out. The blueberry lemonade to me was just a simple pink lemonade. The avocado crap dip was great and the Jaeger Schnitzel was even better!!!
