It’s a nice place for breakfast, the building is very neat and interesting. I will definitely eat here again when I visit Fredericksburg
Great food and staff were very attentive. Great Eggs Benedict.
Food was just ok. Beer was not quiet cold. No air movement in the area we were seated so it was not very comfortable after walking in the heat. We will not return.
Wonderful food and atmosphere! I wanted German food and my husband did not— so this was the perfect restaurant. Food was exceptional and the service was awesome. Very friendly and such a unique and great vibe inside the basement restaurant with some cool history!
Waited and all I got was just the menus
Good food and good service
Group of 12 for lunch. Perfect service, excellent food. Will definitely return. Caution tho, not exactly ADA friendly, steep stairs at both entrances to get to the place.
We arrived just as they opened wanting a nice breakfast. The sever was a nice kid, the food was fast, because we only ordered two items and we placed our order before anyone else. We ordered the “housemade” biscuits and sausage gravy and the “German” style crepe. Both were horrible. The gravy was tasteless. They added overcooked sausage chunks to add flavor. Didn’t help. I highly doubt it was housemade. The biscuits although covered in gravy were not great either. Nothing housemade about any of it. I make milk gravy at home using bacon grease. I could make a fortune selling my gravy and biscuits if they make any money off their tasteless biscuits and gravy. The menu made the crepe sound yummy. It was far from yummy. The menu said it was topped with sour cream so we said no sour cream. That must be a typo. No housemade whipped cream on top so it too was flavorless. It had some cooked apples inside but it was topped w raw slices of green apple. I asked if they had fresh squeezed OJ to which the gentleman responded it was Minute Maid. Nothing special or authentic about the food we ate. Honestly, should have been expected. German cuisine is not the most flavorful let alone Americanized “German” style food. Poor ingredients, lack of culinary knowledge make for horrible food.

Breakfast here was not good. Definitely not worth the price. Homestyle potatoes looked like they had been reheated in the microwave and were all shriveled up and dry. Disappointing for sure because the restaurant is in the basement and could be a really cool spot.

Nice, large restaurant. Good wine selection. Food was good. Very loud inside, which made it hard to dine & have conversation with a group of 8.

Not great…. We went for dinner and were very disappointed. We read all of the reviews and had high hopes but they fell far short. My wife’s burger was okay but “the Kraut” menu option was terrible. The schnitzel was bland, tiny, and had a horrible texture. The “German” potato salad tasted like it was out of a can and had NO flavor. The sauerkraut was bland and the bratwurst tasted like cardboard. The only thing that I enjoyed was the red cabbage and the smoked sausage. The only saving grace was the spinach artichoke dip appetizer and the great customer service from Ismael. Dine here at your own risk…

came in for dinner & was not impressed. both mine & my friends meals were on the cold side. it was also under-seasoned. my friend also ordered the crème brûlée dessert & once it arrived she asked about the coloring & was told that it was a pumpkin variety, which was not advertised anywhere. the server seemed put out when we asked that our check be split & then i was short changed.

Don’t be fooled by the hype…. went in at 7pm and ordered the pork chop special…. The pork chop was reheated, you can tell by how tough it was to cut…. Not to mention the inconsistency in the “fresh” cook through the meat. Not even the special sauce could save this horrible experience. Not worth a dime for the price I paid… might be a great breakfast, horrible dinner. Especially at the price.

Though our favorite place to eat, a little noisy, and a little crowded.

We learned Wiener schnitzel with French fries. The dish came to the table literally in 5 minutes. The meat looked good on the outside, but on the inside it was undercooked, tasteless and sad. The staff is sad and totally unmotivated to work. The atmosphere is not even close to warm German restaurants. In contrast, the tables are tin, cold, and the chairs are plastic. All in all, a big disappointment.
