My husband surprised me for my 50th birthday and this place did not disappoint! The atmosphere was great and seeing Dillon the Rhino was pretty cool. To top it off we had an amazing woman that walked us through our wine tasting! Becky was very knowledgeable and had the best personality. Definitely looking forward to going back! And it’s a win win! Great wine and a good cause!
Stopped by The Rhinory today and was seated, but unfortunately never received any service. Waited for quite a while with no one checking in, so we ended up walking out. Disappointing experience — we were really looking forward to trying the place.
Update -12/28/2025:
I wanted to update my previous experience after returning and speaking with Amy and David, the Director of Wine. He personally took the time to listen, address our concerns, and truly went above and beyond to make things right. His professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine care completely changed our experience.
It’s rare to see someone take such ownership and turn a disappointing situation into a positive one, and I really appreciate the effort David made to ensure we left happy. Because of that, I’m happy to update my review and give credit where it’s due. Thank you for valuing your guests and their experience — we look forward to coming back.
We stopped by this establishment for a wine tasting, which was both our first and last visit. The server, an older lady with short salt and pepper hair, presented us with our first glass of wine. However, when my husband requested a sweeter alternative, she responded in a manner that fell short of professionalism. Instead of simply stating they didn't have sweeter options, she suggested visiting another winery known for their sweet wines and made an unfavorable remark about it. A more polished response would have better served the establishment.

Amazing experience to be having a wine tasting and some appetizers and been able to watch the Rhino they have as part of their conservation plan. They were able to explain the purpose of the winery and the assistance they provide to South Africa a d the efforts to increase the Rhinos in the world.
On our way to Fredericksburg, we stopped at Rhino Winery and it was such a pleasant surprise! The place is beautiful, with a charming rhinoceros who walks around and is fun to watch. The stations are lovely, the garden and outdoor terrace are very nice, and the staff is friendly. I tried a couple of wines and they were quite good. It’s a very family-friendly spot, with plenty of space for kids to run and play while adults relax and enjoy a tasting. I highly recommend this winery and would definitely come back!
We tried the Reserve tasting and had some excellent South African wines. We took home a few bottles and will definitely come back next time we come to Fredericksburg!
The Cabernet is outstanding!
Good wine and Blake the rhino. Heather was very knowledgeable about the wines. And the rhino's handlers were very knowledgeable about the rhino and answered all our questions
The wine here is fantastic! Texas and South African focused and all were winners.
Staff is friendly and fast.
Blake the Rhino is so so so cool to see up close and it is amazing to see what the Rhinory is doing for Rhino conservation.
Stop in for the great wine, stay to save wild life~

Such friendly staff. Loved watching Blake, the rhino.
It’s our happy place!!! Top of our list when we are in the burg 🩷
David the sommelier was wonderful to our group! He educated us throughout the tasting and Becky was friendly and helpful too!
We loved meeting Blake the rhino and felt good donating to the conservation. Delicious wines too!
This is one of my favorite regular stops when wine-touring the area. Blake the Rhino is a cutie-pie, of course, and they have a fantastic selection of wine. Great atmosphere and charitable vibes.
Super unique experience for a Fredericksburg visit. I had a wonderful experience with Heather - definitely ask for her! The staff is very well informed on both the wines and mission of Rhinory. I did the Signature Tasting and found it to be a well rounded selection. 10/10 would recommend to anyone making their winery lists for the area.
