My wife and I recently stopped off at Six Twists – a sparkling wine & champagne joint located in the bustling streets of downtown Fredericksburg. It is the first dedicated sparkling wine experience in Texas and definitely worth the visit. They offer many wines not just from Texas but from around the world, by the glass, light pairing bites, private tastings, educational events, and their social club membership. Owned by Bobby and Melissa Humphries, they love to share their passion and experience of the bubbly variety with customers and friends. They are definitely people-persons! The décor inside is super chic and fun to explore. There’s also a really cool outside area draped in shaded trees. After a sampling of four tastings, our favorites were the Montinori Vivace Prosecco Rose, an intense bouquet of strawberry, peach and hibiscus. And then there was the Marca Trevigiana Bisson Frizzante, a dry sparkler, finely balanced, with green apple and floral aromas. Check out Six Twists – Salute!

I can't recommend this place enough. The wine is phenomenal, the atmosphere is elevated comfort and the service is fantastic. As a group of 10 wandering down main street we were excited at the sparkling bar concept. They easily accommodated us in a private room even without a reservation and Melissa hosted us as if we were family. Learning about the reason behind the name of the restaurant will change the way I drink sparkling wine forever. Just go, you won't regret it.

I had been wanting to come visit for months since seeing this place pop up on my instagram and it did not disappoint. We had such an incredible experience going through the flights we chose (wild card & world tour). Each pour was better than the last and we SO appreciated having someone that very clearly loved the wines she was serving. It truly enhanced our experience. We didn’t catch her name, but she was beyond fantastic. While our experience was by itself five-stars, there was something else we overheard that completely solidified this place as an absolute must-go. A set of ladies came in and one of the associates told them to just tell him what they like and he’d get them something they’d love. It was clear they didn’t realize that this was a sparkling wine establishment, and when their server came to take their order they expressed their outrage that there was nothing but sparkles on the menu. They said they cannot drink bubbles, that they are just BAD, and since they planned on buying food, they needed to find something for them to drink. I, personally, would have been tempted to say something super passive aggressive like “did you not read the description of this place?” Or “there are 270 wineries here in Fredericksburg, just go next door..” But, probably to their relief, I don’t work here. Instead, the ultra professional staff let them know that while bubbles are what they are known for, and why most people visit, they will find something that they would enjoy. And they did. I was so impressed with the way they handled this frustrating situation. This winery was so fun, the staff is fabulous, and the truffle fries were delicious. Basically I just spent a thousand words telling you to add this to your itinerary on your next visit to Fredericksburg.
