The food/sushi here is insanely good! Quite possibly the best in all of DFW. All around a 10 out of 10! Our server struggled to keep pace with all her guests so service was slow and our cocktail took forever to arrive. That said, the manager and head chef helped to expedite things and overall we have no complaints. We can't wait to return!

We did the à la carte and honestly I am no sushi expert, but this place hits that perfect balance of being comfortably uncomfortable in the best way. It nudges you just far enough outside your normal restaurant routine to make it exciting, without ever feeling overwhelming or pretentious.
The food was excellent, the atmosphere is dark and cozy, and the sushi chefs being front and center really makes them the star of the show. It creates a very cool, intimate vibe that is perfect for a date night.
We really enjoyed both the experience and the food and will absolutely be back.

Tonight we celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary with the 18 course omakase hosted by Jin. He was so knowledgeable about his craft and explained every dish to us in great detail. It was a mixture of sashimi, nigiri, hot and cold dishes, and dessert. The food was super fresh and elevated. The drinks were excellent as well. We have been here quite a few times before, but first time trying the omakase. Highly recommend for a great date night! Thanks Jin for the hospitality.

My girlfriend and I came for our first Omakase experience. Chef Jin and the owner are very down to earth people and made the experience amazing. All of the fish was fresh from Japan and blew our minds. We’ve never tried exotic fish like this and are still thinking about every bite. Would highly recommend Kinzo as the best Omakase in Dallas. Hidden gem

Incredible omakase! So happy to have Kinzo in Frisco. The owner Chef Leo took care of us and made it a 5-star experience. We can’t wait to come back!
UPDATE: Coming back 2 years later just to say Kinzo is still the best! We have been to a number of omakase restaurants in DFW, and Kinzo is still our favorite. It’s the most fresh, unique and most importantly consistent.

It was my first time at Kinzo, and I loved the food and atmosphere. The staff was friendly, and the overall experience was great. This is definitely the spot for sashimi lovers who appreciate high-quality, fresh flavors. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Kinzo is hands down one of the best sushi restaurants I’ve ever been to. This place sets the bar for what fine Japanese dining should feel like. The quality of the fish is truly world-class, with many selections flown in directly from Japan. That means you’ll find unique, rare options here that you simply won’t get at other sushi spots in the area.
Every dish is prepared with precision and artistry — from beautifully plated sashimi to melt-in-your-mouth nigiri and creative small dishes. The flavors are clean, balanced, and unmistakably fresh. You can taste the care and authenticity in every bite.
The atmosphere perfectly complements the food — elegant, calm, and upscale without being pretentious. The service is exceptional too: attentive, professional, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve.
Kinzo is not just a meal — it’s an experience. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want to treat yourself to something extraordinary, this is the place to go. I’ll definitely be coming back many times!

This was the best sushi I’ve ever had. The omakase experience is exactly that, an excellent experience. Went for business dinner and the Golden Gai cocktail is a must! Mind blowing flavors with perfect balance. Thank you Chef!!

Kinzo in Frisco was disappointing. The atmosphere was nice, but our server seemed uninterested and not very friendly, which made the experience feel awkward. The food looked good, but for the high prices, the portions were small and the flavors didn’t stand out compared to other sushi spots nearby. Overall, it felt way too expensive for what you get. Nice presentation, but not worth returning.

It feels wrong rating this place so low when my original rating is a 3.75. Unfortunately, yelp doesn’t allow decimal point rating.
Kinzo undeniably serves good fish. Unfortunately, the preparation of the sushi leaves somewhat more to be desired. I feel particularly bad for the place because the quality of the fish definitely was in line with other great sushi places we’ve been to. The environment for top tier sushi in the DFW area is just very difficult. Simply having good fish doesn’t cut it anymore. Preparation does.
Here’s what we got:
Mini omakase:
- [ ] Toro tartare: fresh and very balanced. Served in a beautiful bowl on a plate of ice
- [ ] Santemori: yellow tail with gooseberry and raisin , oyster - absolutely delicious. So flavorful with the ponzu sauce, salmon - was alright. Felt it was too sweet for my liking. (left to right)
- [ ] Sea bream madai nigiri: had a mint leaf in the nigiri that took away from the madai, ruining the balance.
- [ ] Shimaaji (striped jack): slightly citrusy. Liked more than madai
- [ ] Blue fine tuna: classic tuna that was the definition of good fish.
- [ ] Chinmedai: house special: not the biggest fan. Primary flavors: wasabi and slight miso glaze
- [ ] Ocean trout: best out of all the nigiri, but still nothing compared to other sushi restaurants
- [ ] Snow crab temaki
- [ ] Kamasu: barracuda - we ordered this separately, because we saw chef Jin making it with chilli oil. Unfortunately, when we had the nigiri, we couldn’t taste the chilli oil at all.
An astute observation my wife had: most of the toppings or enhancements were under the fish and above the bed of rice. Unlike other places where the enhancements are on top of the fish.
All-in-all, we wouldn’t come back here for sashimi or nigiri, but would visit to try their hot plates which they seem very adept at making.

I tried Kinzo after seeing it online and was not disappointed! The sushi was fresh and had some amazing flavors that really woke up my pallet! I found they make their own soy sauce which was very impressive. The service was excellent, our waitress was attentive and the drinks top notch! I’ve been looking for a good sushi spot in the area and I found one! I’ll definitely be going back!

Little pricey but best japanese in frisco.
I rarely leave reviews but after reading some of lowest reviews I felt inclined to leave one as I feel they are completely wrong.
First I want to start by saying this is not a sushi place you get once a week unless you have the money to do so. I say this because I’ve seen lower reviews complaining about price. That being said the price is fair due to the fact that the fish is flown in from Japan. I don’t think people understand the food safety regulations and other expenses that go into shipping raw fish that far while making sure the fish’s quality is not changed.
As for my dinner, the food was amazing. I lived in Southern California most of my life and have tried very good sushi restaurants, I’m very picky with my fish. Kinzo hands down has become my favorite restaurant for sushi in terms of quality. I generally do not eat sashimi as many restaurants even very good ones struggle not making the fish chewy. At Kinzo you will receive tender well textured sashimi. It was the best I’ve ever had. You can tell the restaurant cares about the quality not only in their food but also in their skills with the preparation of the fish.
To give a completely fair review there was moments where we had to wait too long in my opinion. The server did apologize and we appreciated that so it didn’t bother us too much but hopefully this is not consistently an issue or I could see how that would lower the overall experience.
Overall I highly recommend Kinzo if you want good quality fish and you’re willing to pay for that. It’s a bit silly to get mad at prices when the menu is available online for you to see before with clear prices.
Thank you Kinzo.
