Carbonara used to be their signature dish prepared table side in fresh parm cheese wheel lit on fire. Not the same as Johnny's nor was the service. Very disappointed as this once was a 1-2 times a month kind of place.
Food and wine selection were fantastic. The manager look like a millennial tramp. The prices were wildly cheap for that quality of food. We will be back for the wine and food. Too bad about the front room staff.
The food is just amazing traditional Italian Food! I am so happy that you are open again. The atmosphere is so relaxing and cozy. The service was outstanding. My girlfriend and I went there for lunch today. We were treated like Royality. We will be back again with all of our friends and family. It was so nice to be out and about and have our lives back again. Thank you again so much for taking such good care of us! We will remember it always! Blessings! Jill
Best Italian I've had in awhile. The service was very fast and the food was delicious. I had lasagna, and my companions had the carbonara and gnocchi, everyone said their meal was great. I'm going to try the gnocchi next time as it was described as "delicious potato pillows". Overall great meal!
Chose this place for our anniversary dinner with family. Several things on the menu were not available. Waiter didn’t even advise that a dish that said it had asparagus didn’t. When it came and we questioned it he just said we didn't have any and offered no substitution. Said should have been taken off menu. Owner, I think, said it was to expensive. Ran out of calamari yet there were only 2 other tables in there when we ordered. Ordered Tiramisu which waiter said they had. Came back and said they threw it in the trash. Hadn't been there in awhile and will never go back. Very big disappointment for our 50th anniversary dinner. Remembered it being upscale and customer oriented. Safe your money.
My husband and I try to support the local businesses during the pandemic. We decided to eat at a restaurant with outdoor dining seating instead of bring food home. This Trattoria seemed to have decent reviews. It was a lovely night so we decided to take a ride to Frisco from North Dallas. This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had! The lady at the door had no mask on and when I asked if the wait staff wore them she said WE could request them to do so. She lead my husband and I to this outside area which had no ambience, no table coverings or even a place mat! The waiter came to take our order. Absolutely no personality or welcoming conversation. We ordered a caprese salad which he brought to the table, no bread though. Finally dinner arrived. I ordered eggplant Parmesan and salad. There were three slices of eggplant deep fried with a small dab of tomato sauce, some Parmesan and salad on the plate. I asked where the mozzarella was? He was very curt and told me that in Italy they don’t make it that way. I asked if he could bring me some extra sauce and butter/balsamic vinegar/oil for the bread. He brought the sauce, which was cold and the balsamic vinegar bottle was so sticky I could not get it out of the holder. The bottles looked like the had not been cleaned recently. My eggplant had no taste. Actually the faccocia bread was great and my husband’s veal was just ok at best.Needless to say we were disappointed and annoyed. Looked forward to having a nice dinner.I would think that because of the Covid19 crisis the owners would be happy to have customers and bend over backwards to take care of them!
Had a fantastic experience recently at Trattoria al Giardino. We’ll be honest - when it first opened after Isabella’s closed, we frequented it a lot and it was really good; then we quit going there after several not-so-great experiences. But after hearing in this group that it was under new management and had a new menu, we decided to give it a shot. Let me tell you....it was night and day from the last few times we had been! Started with the caprese (soft burrata) and arancini. Then we wanted to try just a small portion of the carbonara to split, (even though menu says it’s for 2 people) and were given a perfect portion tailored to our request. It was really delicious - quite impressed. Our entrees were veal marsala and veal picatta. Best marsala I have had in ages, and the picatta feautured lightly flash fried artichokes which really took it up a level. Presentation on all items was very pleasing and the restaurant GM, Leo, checked on us constantly to make sure all was to our satisfaction. It felt especially clean in the restaurant and didn’t have the strange smell we used to encounter in the hallway leading back to the restrooms. It felt very bright in the main dining room and Leo said it was because the windows had just been thoroughly cleaned after a 3 year hiatus. We were very comfortable with the precautions they took in making sure we had a safe dining experience. Leo has a lot of pride in the restaurant and I hope others who may have not had the best experience previously give it another shot. Hopefully they will be able to open at 50% capacity Monday so many others can have a quality Italian dining experience in Frisco. ?? — with Matt Lafata.

Nice cozy place and good food ...
Thank you guys, thank you Leo for getting me this reservation, me and my wife enjoy Valentine's day there, great place, the food was unbelievably good. The way everything was presented, the services was excellent. Just because I'm a little big and tall... The portions are kind of small, my wife was full but I was searching for the bread... Just that, I was before at another Trattoria and the portions are always huge. I will be willing to even pay a little more if the portions are a little bigger.
The service was less than impressive, but the food was great. I ordered the eggplant parmesan which come with spaghetti and the marinara was delicious. Would try this place again for the food and hope for better service next time.
My wife and I stayed at the Sheraton Stonebriar, and Trattoria Al Giardino was literally steps from the hotel. When we arrived, we stood for few minutes at the front waiting on the host who also seemed to be busing tables and handling drink orders. Once seated it took several minutes to be acknowledged, and once waited on, the service was much better throughout the experience. The food was not spectacular, though it was not bad. Enjoyed some wine and Italian cuisine.
Pros: Friendly Staff, Welcoming Managers, Great Lamb, Very Affordable Food.
