I had really high hopes for this place and had been wanting to try it for a long time. The first time my mom and I came, we couldn’t find parking. The second time, we finally managed to park and placed a to-go order — and honestly, we should’ve taken the first experience as a sign.
My mom ordered the bourbon meatloaf with sides, and I got the Winner Winner Chicken Dinner with sides and soup. Based on the photos online, the food looked gourmet. In reality, almost everything was a disappointment.
The biscuit was dry and tough, even though the jams were great and tasted homemade. The chicken fried chicken had uneven batter — hardly any on the bottom, which was soggy — and the chicken itself was dry and almost impossible to eat. The rosemary potatoes were extremely overcooked, dry, and burnt. The soup tasted exactly like canned soup. The small banana pudding had good flavor but the texture was just mush.
The only thing I could finish were the grits, and even those weren’t great. My mom couldn’t eat her meatloaf at all because it was so harsh it burned her throat. Both of us ended up throwing away most of our meals.
We also waited quite a while for the order despite it being to-go, and we had driven a long way through traffic just to try this place. For the price and the reputation, this was a huge disappointment. I genuinely don’t understand how the food quality is this poor.
Really unfortunate experience, and definitely not worth the drive or the cost.

Absolutely wonderful experience for my birthday from start to finish! Whitney was wonderful and attentive to all our needs.
Wanted to try this spot on our visit to Dallas. Glad we gave it a try. It’s in a busy location but parking is close and the atmosphere was welcoming. Our server was awesome. The mimosa flight was so good. The Appalachian mimosa was top tier. Overall great experience.

We first tried Tupelo Honey in Greenville, SC one summer and loved it, so I was really excited to see there’s one in Frisco. We were seated quickly, though the hostess didn’t acknowledge us until we came up to the stand. Our server was friendly, but service + food time was a little slow.
We ordered the Biscuits for a Cause, and the blueberry and peach jam were so good. My husband had the chicken and waffles and really enjoyed it. I had the smothered chicken, which came with two generous sized pieces of chicken, it was good and I liked the gravy, but one piece of chicken was a bit dry and hard to cut into. The goat cheese grits were also really good—creamy, rich, and full of flavor.
Overall, it was a good experience with tasty food, but the service could use a bit of improvement. If you visit, definitely try their banana pudding—it’s absolutely delicious.

The staff was amazing helping us on the patio with our dogs. We were at the Star for a dog event, and they are a dog friendly patio even with a dog menu! The only reason I gave the atmosphere a 3 star was because other customers were rude and talking shit about us having dogs.

Sold out of chicken strips. Fried chicken breast delivered cold. Red sauce on grits for fried green tomatoes was too spicy for elderly. Smothered chicken was barely smothered. Drinks were expensive for its size.
Our experience was disappointing this time. Our server seemed disorganized and couldn't remember which drinks went to which guests. Refills took a while, and our food arrived cold. The salads were served at the same time as the entrées, and by the time the server checked on us, half the table had already eaten part of their cold meals. No manager stopped by, even after an entrée was sent back to be remade. To top it off, our desserts arrived while we were still eating our main courses, which made the timing feel very off. Not sure what's changed, but this used to be a much better dining experience
We last dined here approximately 8 months ago before last night. The restaurant was very empty for a Friday night. Apparently, there was a large party in the private room that consumed the kitchen and serving staff, so our service was very slow last night despite the restaurant being pretty empty. We ordered drinks and 2 simple appetizers which came to the table about 20 minutes after we were seated. However, our entrees didn't get to our table until about 1 hour and 10 minutes after we were seated. The manager in charge and our server apologized for the delay and comped our appetizers. In the future, the restaurant should be prepared when they know they will have a large party by having dedicated wait staff for the private room specifically and extra staff in the kitchen to not delay other customers in the restaurant.
