Tasty MexiCali Shrimp Bowl! Love that they have gluten free (& vegetarian) options highlighted on the menu. Food was fresh & tasty, service friendly, and my meal was under 15$. Fantastic!

This Velvet Taco location is very close to my house, so I visit often. I usually order the queso dip with tortilla chips, which is one of my favorite items.
A few weeks ago, however, the chips were extremely salty—so much so that they were almost impossible to eat. I had to physically wipe excess salt off the chips. On my next visit, I mentioned this experience, and the staff apologized and told me they could absolutely make the chips fresh with no salt. From that point on, I consistently received fresh, no-salt chips with no issues at all. That changed today.
When I placed my order and requested fresh chips with no salt (as I’ve done many times before), the woman at the window—who identified herself as a manager named Stormy—told me, in an apathetic tone, “We don’t make these chips fresh.” I explained my prior experiences and was told again that “we don’t make them fresh and we don’t have time per customer to make fresh chips, that’s not a thing”. She then said she guess she could “check” to see if the chip person was making some and I said could you please. After checking, she came back and said they could make them. I then asked why there didn’t seem to be a consistent option for no-salt chips, especially for customers with possible high blood pressure or dietary needs. Her response was, “I don’t know… I wish we could sell celery, but we don’t.” That behavior was already questionable especially from a manager but that comment was surprising, dismissive, and unnecessary. Many customers request low-sodium options for legitimate health reasons, and the lack of empathy or basic awareness was disappointing. I appreciate the staff members in the past who handled this situation with care and professionalism. Unfortunately, today’s interaction felt dismissive and poorly handled. I hope management provides additional customer service and sensitivity training, as consistency and empathy go a long way—especially for regular customers.

Take this for what it's worth, but I wrote restaurant reviews for a popular publication years ago... yes, a real foodie. These innovative tacos were born, in America but sourced from South America to Mexico with an American comfort food flair that boast a marriage of new exciting flavors with good ole' home cooked preparation. The beer battered cauliflower taco and the barbecue Angus are explosive to the olfactory system. Textures of crunch, creamy, crispy and chewy can be found in every chomp. The fresh herbs and spices culminate and aroma of the highest mountains of Spain while their barbecue is bursting with Texas spitfire. Cuban style Chimichurri, grilled steak, and barbacoa are just a few variations of beef protein. Not crazy about Nikki anything... you're on your own there. The cake is mediocre, but VT is my new guilty pleasure... 3 to 4 days a week.

The staff deserves credit for accepting people and giving them food at 10.56 pm on a Sunday night. We had our dinner before 10.50 and were about leave and family group of four came in and ordered at 10.56 , the staff didn’t show any disinterest and gave them their food in to go . Thanks for your service !

These guys make it the best. I go to the other locations but this one is the best. I have been to Velvet Taco 5 days straight. I may come tomorrow 🌟😇🌟 They are also really friendly at this one. They take extra care to give a smile. This is my honest review. I even told people coming to visit that they have to come here for a real Taco Fusion. Very tasty and a great team!
