Can’t say enough good things. We left a stuffed animal in the sheets and they returned it to us! Microwaves cost $10 but it was worth it anyway.
We booked the San Luis in Galveston eight months in advance. Upon check-in, we were placed on a standard, non-VIP floor without any explanation or acknowledgment. It quickly became clear that the hotel had overbooked and quietly bumped us from the room we reserved, hoping we wouldn’t notice. When we raised the issue, we were told they needed to “balance the hotel”—with no apology, no prior communication, and no acceptable reason why our confirmed reservation was not honored. What’s worse, the staff failed to mention that they still intended to charge us the full penthouse rate for a downgraded room. This is not just disappointing—it’s deceptive. For a luxury property, this level of customer service and lack of transparency is completely unacceptable. I hope The San Luis re-evaluates its approach to guest experience, communication, and integrity.
If you are Latino and you don't want to be treated like garbage, don't come here, these people will be racist from the prison until the end and they will put you all the time more than the others. Your etrada will be at 4 pm instead of at 11 am as they said, the waitresses will not attend you and you will have to attend to some Latino or you will have to go to the bar yourself to order it yourself
When you pay $1209 for 3 night stay in a basic room you do Not expect your first night to include a giant dark brown flying roach. I'd just ordered room service about to eat my burger when I decided to close the drapes at 10pm. While closing them a giant roach greets me. It took 20 minuets for maintenance to come track it down I stood frozen in the room trying to keep track of where it was. The desk clerk said they are common. That's not acceptable, my Hyatt stay last week did not include roaches in my room at a substantial lower cost. As a hotelier for the past 30 years I'm also shocked to see that the staff uses prepared responses to complaints. Come on at this is a 5 star report at least address each issue I do individually and not with the same generic answer. They asko dod Not respond to FB reviews. I will say the property is lovely and staff friendly Candice and Sal did their best.
It was our first time visiting. We arrived at night and left our car with valet parking, along with our belongings, thinking that valet service was safe. The next day, when we requested our car to go out for breakfast, the valet employee approached us to say that someone had broken into our car. The strange thing is that there were no broken windows, nor was there any sign of forced entry. My car locks automatically when the key moves away, so there is no way it was left unlocked. Someone must have used my key… and the only ones who had it were the valet staff. The hotel has not taken any responsibility for the stolen items.
This was a good experience until the resort owners showed up with their dog ten minutes after our arrival. I understand ownership has its perks. But it is never okay to allow your dog and toddler run amuck around the restaurant and resort floors. And it’s even less okay to see a food service manager having to go get their loose dog to carry it back to the family multiple times. Not only is this highly against food handler rules and obligations of said food handlers, it’s against the law. And it’s obviously expectant of the owners that food managers babysit their child and dog. The entitlement was astounding. The shame ought to be huge, but I doubt there is any. It’s very likely this is normal behavior for them. At the conclusion of our lunch, I spoke with the dog/baby sitter manager. When I brought this to her attention, she confirmed my suspicion that they were the owners of the resort. Wasn’t hard to figure out by their entitlement. She was apologetic. However, when I also pointed out that she never even washed her hands after carrying the filthy dog, her response was somewhat gross. “But I haven’t touched anything!” Will the health inspector accept that? NO! And neither should any customer of that restaurant or resort. The owners of the resort/restaurant should truly reevaluate their own behavior in their place of business. This isn’t appropriate in any way. Owners and management should be extremely embarrassed by their behavior. And from the sound of it, that behavior won’t change. And likewise, neither will their entitlement. Owners deserves an F- Management deserves an F Server deserves an A Food quality deserves an A Edit: and the potpourri aromatics through the resort is pretty gross too.
Terrible, the pool is not hot. I come to this place for its pool and it has been worth 3 nights and the water is not hot.
We arrived about 6pm, on a Tuesday, the area was near empty. Staff walked by us for 30min without acknowledgement. We politely got a manager as she was walking past us. She was polite, but asked if we were guests of the hotel (We are). She then asked about our wrist bands & told us only people with wrist bands are served. Mine was in plain view(attached to my purse) & my husband had his in his pocket. New policy? We've been coming here for years, & always stay multiple nights, but wow...
I love to spend my weekends at San Luis resort but today I literally have the most disrespectful bartender ever he was super rude with all the customers around I wasn’t the only persona complaining about him was a couple next to me he also treat them unprofessional and with attitude his name is Melvin , I’m not that kind of person who like to complain and also after that they was asking all the customer to close the tap they open with him cuz he has to leave because the tips what a service ….. thanks to Ian he was super helpful and nice even if I understand summer season is busy at San Luis but you should work better to hire your bartender or at least teach them to give better customer service such an amazing resort need a nice people working there

Absolutely the worst resort! The air conditioner made loud bangs every time it cycled. Had to move to another room on the second day. The shower leaked a lake on the floor. I was not interested in mopping their bathroom floor every day. The third day we were awakened by workers outside our 15 th floor room grinding on our cast iron balcony. After 4 hours of this we went to front desk to invite the manager to our 700 dollar a night room to listen to this. She said she could hear it there. Front desk was on the 3 rd floor. She said they did not know they were coming that day She said there was no other administrative staff to talk to. They were all off. Asked if they had cell phones. She said they would not be called. No empathy or any reconciliation for a horrible stay. Down right rude and attitude. Along with her other front desk staff. Rooms very dated and bathroom dated. Awakened to man and woman fighting and yelling on VIP floor lounge. Good Luck !

The San Luis used to be a classy place to go and relax. The pool was very cloudy, small children in the hot tub, girls in thongs and only nipple coverings (The website clearly states a dress code). While we were dining a girl came in the restaurant wearing a thong bikini and a see through mesh covering. I could pay much less per night to see the same. When I questioned the dress code… I was told it’s under new management and they don’t enforce the dress code anymore. Won’t be back.
The spa was amazing and loved Monica and shalanda We had lunch by the pool. the spa will validate parking if your not staying the night in the hotel We had our air bnb to stay for the bike rally Great location to stay the night or a day vacation Highly recommend the spa
Annette did my make up for a Halloween party & it turned out PERFECT! She absolutely perfected my look with this makeup. She never disappoints & I’m so happy the San Luis is lucky enough to have such a talented & amazing employee. 10/10!
My daughter and I went and had our hair done (washed, trimmed, layered and styled) by Annette. She was absolutely amazing!! Annette was very professional, informative and helpful with all of the our questions. My daughter is 11 years old and is now telling me how she DEFINITELY wants to back to see Annette and get her done for her birthday. I can’t thank her enough for doing an amazing job on our hair but also for the great experience. We will definitely be coming back!!
Another great experience at The Steakhouse!!! We took our friend Ben here for the first time! Thank you Jon Paul for always being great! Special thanks to Lazar, our waiter, for the exceptional service. Every. Single. Time! The fried crab claws were delicious!! The stuffed shrimp was great too! Sushi rolls were impeccable! Can’t forget the martinis….sooooo good! I recommend the pomegranate martini! Yummy!!!!! Special thanks also to Leslie Lugo and band for rocking the house! Great music, great food, VIP experience.
