Chose this place for lunch because of all the great reviews, let me just start saying that I live in Texas more than 40 years and have eaten at many bbq restaurant and have always finished my plates, From this place was the first time I had to throw the food away. (see photo my plate before I threw it away), I got the 2 meat plate, chicken, pork ribs, mac and cheese and potatoe salad, 22$. My chicken was cold, my pork ribs were rough and hard , no flavor at all, my potatoe salad was sour , the only thing that was ok was the mac and cheese, I was very disappointed , Not impressed at all ,I wanted to like it , but I just couldn't eat it , maybe I got the wrong thing? Better bbq restaurant out there for sure, Kats bbq, Spring Creek, shoot even Rudy's is better.

First things first, Koop's is a local favorite and is only open for lunch 11am-3pm Tue-Sat, get there early or you're guaranteed to stand in line or not have your first choice in what you want to eat. They were out of several things by the time we arrived at noon. Upon entering, you will find plenty of seating, clean bathrooms (with hot water to wash your hands!!!), and wonderful aromas! The gentleman that took our order was patient, informative and friendly. He said their most popular sides were the mac 'n cheese and the baked beans. I opted for a two meat (brisket and smoked sausage) platter with Brussels sprouts and beans. My other dining companions opted for a one meat (ribs) platter both with mac n cheese, one with baked beans and the other the potato salad. Let me start with the brisket, simply phenomenal! Legit melted in my mouth and the smoke and flavor was so delicious! The ribs were extremely flavorful and tender also. No bbq sauce needed for either meat! The smoked sausage was decent also, not as special as the brisket. Now let's chat sides, le sigh, let me also preface this statement by saying I don't believe I have ever been to a bbq joint or smoke house where the meat AND the sides were comparable. The same remained true at Koop's. All of our sides accompanied their meats fine enough but left a lot to be desired. They have a policy where if you rub the hog or something and don't like your side they will get you another. We chose not to do that. We did have a very upbeat and friendly conversation with one team member who informed us that we can bring beer in next time. One of my dining companions mentioned he was bummed they were out of nachos. The team member stated that they make their chips from scratch and are one of their most popular dishes and described the brisket queso they also make. Needless to say my dining mate made arrangements to return the next day for these fantastic sounding nachos. Long (er) story short, my dining mate picked up the nachos and they were nothing like described by the team member or depicted on their social media. That was a major letdown.

Again, we were guided to a treasure by locals who knew where to go. Koops was an amazing lunch place with the best BBQ I have ever had. My Beef Brisket sandwich was perfect, without any additional sauces or flavours added. The Potato Salad was the perfect accompaniment to go with the slaw and brisket! My wife had 3 Beef Brisket tacos, which meant I got to try 2 of them the next day at lunch? as it was more than she could eat. Our friends had Beef Brisket with slaw and a Stuffed Baked Potato that she says was amazing. We will be returning before our departure for Canada.

OUTSTANDING!! Seriously, On Point barbecue. We got the meat sampler, and everything was excellent. That's not an easy task. I'm also not easy to impress. I will be recommending this place to all my friends. The staff were very friendly and pleasant.

This is the best BBQ I've had on the Island. Got the 4 meat plate that comes with 2 sides. Double brisket, pork ribs and pulled pork. All excellent. Make sure you ask for lean or marbled brisket if you have a favorite. I got the lean, it had enough side fat but not the heavy marbling. Mac & cheese plus the cole slaw was also very nice.We ate outside. It's a nice area. The restaurant was nearly full inside. But, we had the pleasant spring weather to ourselves. Had plenty of food for me and my date and asked for a to-go box and took the leftovers home.If you're looking for a good BBQ place on The Island, look no further than Koops!Parking: Plenty of street parking on 45th Street and on Broadway

I had a two meat plate with pork ribs and brisket, brussel sprouts, and dirty rice. The meats were excellent, with the brisket being better than the ribs. The sides were outstanding and I could have made a meal of just sides and enjoyed it. My son had the link sausage and loved it. We will be back. Friendly service and clean location.

The brisket and pulled pork were just okay. The brisket queso.....I mean the HEB one has better flavor. The mac and cheese was like really disappointing...not good. Would I go here again...no.

This is legit Texas BBQ. We had the five meat to share. Portions are generous. Brisket is cut like it should, no see through pieces. Sausage has lots of flavor. Pulled pork has a nice sweet flavor but not overly sweet. Ribs are amazing. Staff and owner are friendly. Go early, when an item is gone, it's gone for the day. Don't sleep on Koop's, you won't be dissapointed.

This place is legit!! Fast, friendly, fantastic staff and the real deal in BBQ! I could’ve taken better pictures but everyone was plowing through their food. Care and attention to detail shines from the front curb to the tables and even the bathrooms with happy plantys. The whole staff obviously puts their heart and soul into tending their menu and their shop. Thanks, Koop’s, we’ll definitely be back!

Koops is so good! Eat everything, you can't go wrong. We had the brisket queso with home made kettle chips and the Texas Brisket Dip, a Texas brisket version of a cross breed Philly Cheesesteak and French Dip sandwich. Bring a Texas size appetite!Years later, still so good!!! New location, still the best!

Let me tell you about Koop's BBQ--it's hands down the best barbecue joint on the island! Not only is their food absolutely mouthwatering, but the service is top-notch too. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a smile and treated like family. And let's talk about their brisket--it's tender, juicy, and packed with flavor that'll have you coming back for more. Plus, their service is lightning-fast, so you're never left waiting long to satisfy that barbecue craving. If you're on the island and craving some seriously good barbecue, Koop's is the place to be. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
