Donald the manager just absolutely ruined our experience and expectations. my husband and I were so excited to eat and endure a wonderful visit but we had a small correction that was requested from my husband on a 10$ cocktail... bar tender immediately denied our correction on the drink.. Donald the management approached us and was straight out rude and denied us from the get go please pick a better place to spend your hard earned money. these people treated us horrible . I will never go back.

We did not come for food. Was looking for best people watching spot on the strand and a few drinks.. Definitely was more then we expected! Ed met us with a huge smile and a twinkle in his eye when he greeted us and offered seats in front of the bar patio outside (best place to be). Service was exceptional! They have great bacon by the way, which goes into the blood Mary's get that!! We were there for the weekend and had the pleasure of hearing smooth jazzy voice of Micky! He sings your request, it was our favorite part of the place! So much we decided we have to make a monthly visit from The Woodlands. It's a perfect Galveston vibe and definitely a place to go

The food was mediocre for the price and it says it's dog friendly but they just mean they have a bowl of water. There's no designated waiter for the patio. All orders have to be put in the restaurant.
Onion rings you get about 5 for $4. They had no flavor.
The burger patty was juicy but not seasoned.

The Playground Patio & Grill was, definitely, someplace I plan on returning to next time I'm in Galveston! The outside patio and live music were amazing! We all had a great time!

The counter person was very rude and off putting!

Try using real cheese in your chips and cheese dip instead of generic velveeta and packaged powdery filler. Tastes gross! First time there and we were sadly disappointed. You get one chance to make an impression and you fell way short. It took way too long for the kitchen to fix it and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The guy who brought it out couldn't have walked slower. Too many other choices of eateries downtown to put up with this bs.

A very nice & fun place for a burger & fries or just an appetizer like onion rings. It’s very affordable plus a fun skee ball game gives it a fun vibe

Possibly the best burger I’ve ever had. My husband and I were looking for a quick meal after walking on the street and split a burger that melted in my mouth. Service was meh, flies were friendly but that patty cut like butter.

I LOVE the burger and fries, I come here every time I come to galveston and I make sure to get it because it's just so delicious ? I'm just not a huge fan of the loud singing outside. I will definitely keep coming.

The burger and fries are very good for a Galveston Strand eatery. Atmosphere is a plus. Would recommend this place for travelers. Service was decent.

By far the best burger I have had in long while! The onion rings were ok can't quite describe what it was missing. My daugter had nachos and she said they were good. The big positive of the place was the location and the music. You place your order at the counter and then you find your seating indoor or outside. There is a full bar and there are games you can partake in. We did not play any due to the variety of things to do. This place is in located in the histiric Strand area. Very cool buildings and shops. Beach is also close by.

The burgers are flavorful and similar to what you’d find at a casual patio eatery. The mac and cheese side, which cost $6, was very disappointing. I would have expected any establishment to not serve what is almost Kraft macaroni at such a high up charge. I discourage anyone from ordering it. In general there is no service here, and it’s counter order only. I think you’ll have better options in the neighborhood. My friends ordered nachos which were of mediocre quality— the cheese was more like what you’d get at a concession stand than a quality queso you’d find at any Tex Mex restaurant in Texas.

Our friend ordered Mac and cheese and it was literally Kraft. That’s embarrassing.

The ground beef nachos were okay. Inoffensive but generally not well seasoned.

Would not come back

The Playground Patio Bar & Grill is on one the street corners along The Strand. Fun atmosphere with fun music! Not a crazy, overly crowded spot. You can inside or outside. I ordered the pulled pork nachos which were amazing! Could have fed a family of 4! Great spot!
