This has become a tradition every time we come to Galveston. Rita’s Italian ice has the best Italian ice, and custard on the island we always get mango with custard on top and every time I hit the island this is one of the things I look forward to - highly recommend

If you're looking for the ultimate frozen treat destination in Galveston, Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard, located right off the Seawall, is the place to go! This fun and flavorful dessert shop has quickly become our family’s go-to spot for a cool and refreshing treat after dinner—or honestly, anytime we’re near the beach.

Rita’s offers a massive variety of frozen delights, from their signature Italian Ice to rich and creamy Frozen Custard that’s hands-down the best we've ever had. Their menu is bursting with creative combinations like Gelatis (layers of Italian Ice and Custard), Blendinis, Gelati Blenders, Sundaes, Concretes, Frozen Custard Cookie Sandwiches, Milkshakes, and even custom drinks. With so many flavor options and mix-in choices, the possibilities are literally endless—there’s something for everyone!

Our favorite treat is the Gelati—the way the custard and Italian ice swirl together is absolute perfection. My kids love trying new flavors every time, and we’re always impressed by how fresh, flavorful, and high-quality everything tastes. Whether you’re a fan of fruity, creamy, sweet, or tangy, Rita’s has you covered.

Not only is the menu amazing, but the atmosphere is cheerful and family-friendly, making it the perfect stop during a beach day or after a meal on the island. The staff is always friendly and upbeat, and the service is quick even when there’s a crowd.

Every trip to Galveston ends with a sweet visit to Rita’s—and we wouldn’t have it any other way. If you’re in town and looking for a frozen treat that’s a step above the rest, Rita’s is a must-visit! You’ll be hooked after your first bite!

I just left out of here, with a line forming outside, and the poor young lady was all by herself. I understand completely that these smaller businesses might not have the capacity or funds to hire more hands, but she was absolutely SLAMMED! People were trying to ask her lengthy questions, or start conversations with her and she was moving at lightning speed ( she was phenomenal. ) The reason I’m “upset” , is because I don’t think young women on the seawall especially in a crowded city area should be left in the weeds like that on a weekend. I’ve been a server at a restaurant, and getting completely smacked in the face with orders one after the other is totally uncalled for. Yes the line was long, no that’s not my complaint. I just don’t think such a popular business chain should have ONE person doing 1000000 tasks. Please do better.

I didn’t catch the name on her name tag, but today is Sunday it was somewhere between 6:00-6:30 ) She was QUICK with orders (seriously moved at lightning speed while still putting care and effort into the orders ) , friendly, but clearly overworked. Give her a raise, or hire the hands! Sheeeesh!

Great place to stop with the family or for kids. I didn’t love the ice cream (Custard) but everyone else did. I am a little picky with my food and thought I’d explore a little but too creamy for me. There was only one lady taking orders and as a cashier so the line was super long but all in all, everyone enjoyed the stop and the yummy treat.

The kiddos wanted Rita's. Very small location. Had to sit outside. The cold drinks were perfect for the 100 degree weather! Parking was shared with the gas station.

If it wasn’t for the sweet tall brunette girl, I probably would have given a lower review. She was very nice.

Reasonably priced for the portions they give you. Very delicious and refreshing after a long day at the beach during the summer. Quick and fast service, you're able to eat outside where you get to see the view.
