I wanted to love it. I did the last time I came, which was quite some time ago. The restaurant was packed and my impression was they've added a lot of tables. The space can't hold this many tables for noise level and ease walking around. It took 30 minutes for us to get our cocktails. Service was very slow, but we really loved the waiter. I think the restaurant might've been a little overwhelmed. We were there 2 1/2 hours for two courses. The food is delicious but the snapper had very little crab meat on it and very little of the beurre blanc. Kinda one note and again, not as I remember, which was really outstanding last time. Lastly, when we valet parked, we were told it would be $30 even though we were only there for dinner. I checked with someone else in management who told me the same thing. That put a real damper on our dining experience! As we were leaving to pay parking at the front desk, we complained again and were told we could get validated and only pay five dollars. No one told us that. The valets should know that and when we said we were only there for dinner, they said it didn't matter. They seemed unaware of the validated ticket. I'm not anxious to return to this Landry's restaurant. I'll stick to Vic and Anthony's.

The Singer Leslie Lugo and her band were way too loud. Her music was unbecoming of a Steakhouse Setting. She refused to adjust volume tho all patrons complained. The Food and Service was outstanding! I would recommend Checking before booking if she is playing. She starts at 8pm in The Steakhouse and continues till 2AM.

We had Carlos as the server. He was extremely pleasant and catered to us like we were at his house.😁. The food was really outstanding. I believe The San Luis is a perfect place for a really nice dinner. The food and service is worth writing about. Please try the restaurant, you won't be disappointed.

The Steakhouse at the San Luis Resort was incredible. My wife got the Australian Wagyu 8 oz filet and said it was the best steak she has ever had. Every menu item that we ordered was amazing and so flavorful. We will be coming back as often as possible and highly recommend it.

The crab cakes, ribeye, and filet were great & cooked perfectly. The chianti based sauce was wonderful with the steak. A side of Brussel sprouts was very good and enormous, the two of us couldn't finish them. As always, Jon Paul was gracious and added a touch of finesse to the evening. His presence had a calming effect on some moments of hyper activity at our table and surrounding tables. We were glad he was on the floor. We understand that the restaurant is aiming for sophisticated elegance but the lighting is just too dim . We and the diners at the surrounding tabes had to use our phone lights to read the menus and check our steak temperature. Not a good thing for a restaurant at this price point. One very annoying thing that the waiters did was prior to presenting menus was barking out the evening's specials, not one or two, but a never ending list of specials, steak grades, etc. We had lost interest early on. Additionally, they knew we were returning guests but still they felt obligated to give us the usual steakhouse take on prime grades, Wagu from Japan vs other countries, etc. Perhaps management is requiring the waitstaff to do the above but please reserve it for first time guests. Overall, the food was the winner and with a few improvements in lighting and service, the restaurant could be a top tier steakhouse with the benefit of an island resort vibe.

Great food, ordered appetizers, drinks, streaks. Walked out feeling like I overate. Average $130 person plus tip 8oz prime filet, two 8oz wagu beef wellington, two sides, salad, onion soup, carpachio, 3 pear martini. Pricey, but we thought it was worth it. Place was loud with a couple of rowdy groups who where drinking too much. Nice cover band/singer was there that night. If your staying at San Luis, must try the steakhouse.

Always great food. It was crowded and very noisy at 7. Hard to have conversation. Food and service were outstanding.

Personally, I'm not very impressed with the steak for the price charged.

We booked the San Luis in Galveston eight months in advance. Upon check-in, we were placed on a standard, non-VIP floor without any explanation or acknowledgment. It quickly became clear that the hotel had overbooked and quietly bumped us from the room we reserved, hoping we wouldn’t notice. When we raised the issue, we were told they needed to “balance the hotel”—with no apology, no prior communication, and no acceptable reason why our confirmed reservation was not honored. What’s worse, the staff failed to mention that they still intended to charge us the full penthouse rate for a downgraded room. This is not just disappointing—it’s deceptive. For a luxury property, this level of customer service and lack of transparency is completely unacceptable. I hope The San Luis re-evaluates its approach to guest experience, communication, and integrity.

If you are Latino and you don't want to be treated like garbage, don't come here, these people will be racist from the prison until the end and they will put you all the time more than the others. Your etrada will be at 4 pm instead of at 11 am as they said, the waitresses will not attend you and you will have to attend to some Latino or you will have to go to the bar yourself to order it yourself

John Paul really turned a negative into a positive. Hard to provide that level of customer service. He turned what would’ve been a 1-star event and a never return policy for me into an unforgettable experience with my family. Amazing food, great staff. Thank you!!

When you pay $1209 for 3 night stay in a basic room you do Not expect your first night to include a giant dark brown flying roach. I'd just ordered room service about to eat my burger when I decided to close the drapes at 10pm. While closing them a giant roach greets me. It took 20 minuets for maintenance to come track it down I stood frozen in the room trying to keep track of where it was. The desk clerk said they are common. That's not acceptable, my Hyatt stay last week did not include roaches in my room at a substantial lower cost. As a hotelier for the past 30 years I'm also shocked to see that the staff uses prepared responses to complaints. Come on at this is a 5 star report at least address each issue I do individually and not with the same generic answer. They asko dod Not respond to FB reviews. I will say the property is lovely and staff friendly Candice and Sal did their best.
