An interesting dichotomy to say the least- this is an apex predator in the dive bar species - I don't know if they have food there but if your shots are up to date I say go for it- I'm going to pass- yes the bar is that good -fairly certain they don't have Montucky Cold Snacks but don't let that detur you

Low key place for locals. Had the baseball game playing on multiple TV's. Pool tables, plenty of bar space (they actually have two spots in one, and the bartender was very nice and quick to bring me a beer. There's construction on the road out front but the side door and parking is open

My late night bouts of insomnia sometimes lead me to this place even though I don't drink. I will tip generously though, for their trouble. Having lived in Galveston long enough, this bar reflects the tempo of mid town: unassuming, laid back, friendly to all, with a veneer of respectability. You wont find hipsters or culties here. They have their regulars whom I've gotten to know. I told some tourist friends i met the other day that Galveston and its places don't really reflect the old west. Its its own distinct flavor. However, the Silver Spot is about as close as you are going to get to a bar reflective of something out of a Larry McMurtry novel. Country music is omnipresent, and the pulse is country strong. I'm not going to find Kellsy's bar from All In The Family, but this is not too far off the mark. Jacks downtown is similar, but more like Andy's from the Rocky movies. Enjoy!
