Very tasty food, delightful cocktails and eclectic high end decor blend with fantasticly talented and knowledgeable bar and waitstaff. Will be back for more exploration of their cocktail and dining offerings soon!

I understand how busy weekends could be, but I don’t understand how waiting for our bill could take more than 20 minutes. Our waters were never refilled, and on top of that, I’m trying to make sense of the $8 breakfast potato side that was seasoned with nothing but salt. It did not even come with any dip. Overall, the food was… just okay. ??‍♀️I’m giving 2 stars for the overall look of the place, but honestly, I came here to try the food, not to take pictures…

Tried to take my sister who uses a wheelchair for lunch, was a revolting experience. Not allowed to sit inside, nor on sidewalk, only a patio with a step. Once brought this up, hostess attitude was triggered and rude. Waiting 15 minutes for a server, got the vibe and left.Had better management, as a resident, will share this with the ppl

Our daughter was grieving the loss of her 18 year old dog she just had to let cross over the rainbow bridge so we wanted to treat her to a fun day. Sugar & Rye was on the top of our list and we couldn’t wait to make the stop. We have been there once before and had a great experience. We walked in, waited for what seemed like 10 minutes at the hostess stand which no one was occupying, and had literally a minimum of 7-8 employees pass us by. NOT ONE asked if they could help us… NOT ONE. No matter whether it was ten minutes it was way too long and way too many people passed us by without offering to help us or greet us. We left and will not return. HORRIBLE service. Get it together. You cannot expect people to spend a nice amount of money on an establishment run so poorly.

My friends and I had a bizarre experience. When we initially walked in the restaurant, one of the waiters said he was gonna to find us a table. We waited for him to come back, as several other wait staff asked if we had been helped- to which we replied: “Yes.” When the waiter came back he just stared at us confused and so we told him again how many people we had in our party. As he took us to our table he joked that we had been out in the sun too long. The food was okay- nothing too special. What was most confusing was the cocktail menu. They all seemed to be winter drinks. My friend asked if the “seasonal” drinks (Brian’s Infamous Eggnog, Holly Daze, & Sleigh Bells) at the top of the menu were for this season and the waiter said: “Yes- except for the eggnog one.” Then the drink my friend ordered came back with a snowman face on it. This restaurant has great potential and the ambiance is wonderful, but it certainly needs work on customer service and the cocktail menu.

I was really looking forward to trying this place after hearing about it from several people. It is really cute inside. Overall though, the experience was only okay. We waited 10-15 minutes before someone came by to bring waters and the water ended up tasting (somehow) fishy? Once we were able to order, our food came pretty quickly. The food was pretty good but probably not worth the cost or the overall experience.

We arrived just before 8pm and it was fairly busy with pretty much all the tables inside occupied, a few tables empty but there was no space for the four of us. We were then offered to sit outside, to which we obliged, one of the servers took us to a table outside. We sat down and another sever came to our table and she brought some water which was great. We asked for a few minutes to have a look at the food and drink menu. At this point some of friends wanted to look at the wine menu as we were not given a menu from the beginning, I had to flag another sever down as she was looking after a couple sitting outside opposite us. This is where things went further downhill, our server must have left for like 15 minutes before returning, by that time some of our friends wanted to order some drinks and some appetisers and felt like we were being ignored or just completely forgotten about. Our server came back and we placed the order of shrimp cerviche and boudain balls along with our drinks, at this point we were still considering our main courses. We received our drinks and appetisers and started to enjoy them and my wife asked whether there were any gluten free bread or crackers were available to go along with the appetisers, our server told us that they did have some gluten free crackers but I'm pretty sure we were given normal crackers containing gluten to which my wife couldn't take the risk of eating. We were left for about another 20 minutes or so before the server came back to take our orders. Before we started to place the order I mentioned to our server that my wife had a gluten allergy to which the server stopped taking all our orders and stated that she would get us a gluten free menu as she wasn't sure which items were OK for gluten allergies. The server left and this time she was gone for like another 20 minutes, I tried to make contact eye contact with her with a few times but to no avail as I could see her inside walking around. I could see our server in the kitchen and I had to get out of my seat and walk to the door and look through the window to see our server there with another colleague having a full blown conversation about something, I made eye contact with her and pointed to where we were sitting and said 'we're still here' she seemed almost surprised I did that and came back outside immediately but with no gluten free menu. She started to proceed with our orders again and I then I asked which items were gluten free and then she realised that was supposed to bring a gluten free menu to us but she either forgot or you didn't have one, by this time we all just wanted to place an order to eat and had been waiting long enough meaning my wife couldn't choose anything that was gluten free. Our food didn't take too long to arrive, we ordered a risotto, gnocchi, my wife had the shrimp and grits as a safe bet and I had the southern flounder. Whilst I was waiting for my food to cool a little I was eating the cerviche the server took the dish from me which I thought was rather odd, she didn't even ask if I was still eating or let alone finished. The food was just OK and this point the entire experience was a let down. The server returned a short while after and offered us to go boxes but we all declined. She then returned with the check which was over $200 and I asked if it was possible to split it in half to which she agreed to do so. This is where it gets even more bizarre, when she returned with the split check amounts she stated the she had a dessert earlier and added it to our check and only when she was splitting the check she realised and apologised. I understand mistakes can happen but these events this evening were just odd. I honestly don't know if I'll ever go back after what happened today. It's such a shame, I had high hopes for this place.

Come here for the first time today and man was it nice. First off I love the atmosphere and character of the old building. They have it fixed nicely both outside and in. It’s somewhat small inside but feels very comfortable they have quite a bit of seating outside too. I had the pasta and shrimp and it was delicious. My wife ordered the shrimp and grits and really liked it also. We will definitely be coming back soon.
