Despite the beautiful weather, atmosphere and view, this place serves terrible coffee and has terrible service. Visited this location for the first time yesterday, All three baristas were too busy talking to even listen to our order and my drink came out wrong. Moments later, I came back inside and was greeted with the ugliest look, and she snatched my coffee away from me and made me a chai latte. What I originally asked for. Worst chai latte ever how do you messed that up? I’m not too sure.

to the lady that remade my latte I’m sorry that you have to do do actual work, and pay attention at your job.

I’m a Galveston local and in the restaurant industry and genuinely feel like I should not have been treated that way. Won’t be back.

Great coffee! Cute shop in a tucked away neighborhood. Worth the drive to check it out.

Coffee is amazing! The lattes are flavorful but not to sweet. Cookies are amazing! The atmosphere was quiet and inviting, and the Baristas were so sweet too

I visited this coffee shop recently and while the atmosphere is pleasant and the location is great, the service was disappointing. The barista seemed unfriendly and a bit judgmental. When my coffee was ready, she simply placed it on the counter without letting me know, so I ended up waiting unnecessarily. Good vibe, but the baristas definitely need improvement.

The two young women at the counter were awkward when approached. We had to somewhat forcefully say hello to get a single word out of them. The area is beautiful. The coffee is good but service not so much. Too bad.

Such a sweet little coffee shop in a unique area of Galveston! Their specialty seasonal coffees are different & delicious. So good went twice in 3 days. Highly recommended!

I got excited, seeing the location. So disappointed in the coffee. No flavor…… got a maple pancake latte and it had no taste. Got a muffin and I don’t even know if it was homemade.
It tasted like they got it from some factory. The service was alright. I think I would have liked a welcome.
The place is cute!
Sugar bean….. step up your game!
I had to go get a coffee at Seawall coffee because my coffee was bad.

I came to this coffee shop today and unfortunately had a disappointing experience with one of the staff members, Camila. From the moment I ordered my drink, her energy and attitude felt off — she seemed irritated and kept giving me uncomfortable looks.

When I tried to sit at a table that had an outlet so I could get some work done, she told me that area wasn’t open to customers. I explained there were no other seats with outlets available, and all she said was “sorry,” in a tone that felt dismissive, like she didn’t care or want to help.

At that point, I didn’t even feel comfortable staying anymore. I had just ordered a matcha and ended up leaving it there untouched. I could’ve asked for a refund, but honestly, I didn’t even want to bother — the whole experience just left a bad feeling.

I truly wanted to enjoy my time here, but the lack of kindness and basic customer care made it hard to feel welcome. I understand we all have bad days — maybe she was having one today — and I genuinely hope she finds some love, peace, or joy soon, because energy like that doesn’t come from nowhere.

Hopefully management helps ensure all customers are treated with more warmth and understanding in the future.

Just wasnt really for me- but I think the place has potential. I think if I'm going to drop so much money on a drink, it just needs to be made right. A mocha or latte should have microfoam with the consistency of wet paint all the way through- not a thin layer of foam on top and warm milk underneath. This isn't unique to this cafe per se, more of a pet peeve of mine but still, coffee drinks are too expensive to not be made well. Folks behind the bar could've been friendlier I suppose, not fake but just friendlier, but really I'd be fine with even a rude barista if they made the drink with care. Lot of gossiping behind the counter that I could hear plain as day which was a little awkward.. atmosphere wasnt for me but I can see how it would appeal to some, and it was clean.

I don't know who the H-E-double hockey sticks is giving this place anything below 4 stars, but my experience was absolutely a 5.5 out of 5. 10 out of 10, would highly recommend and would absolutely go here again if ever in Galveston. In fact, my girl even shouted out this coffee shop on her FB. Absolutely adore this spot.

Our coffees and muffins were superb

I gave Sugar Bean another try, hoping my first visit was just an off day. Sadly, the experience was much the same. The barista, different from last time I was here was still cold and unwelcoming. No smile, no greeting, just a transactional vibe that doesn’t match what you’d expect from a cozy neighborhood café in Galveston.

Maybe it’s the Evia setting that gives off a more polished, exclusive feel, but that shouldn’t translate into snobby service. The area is beautiful, no doubt, but a little warmth behind the counter would go a long way. Galveston has its own laid-back charm, and Sugar Bean just doesn’t reflect it.

Cute spot, decent coffee but still missing the heart.

I love this place. The interior is cute and the atmosphere is also good. The vanilla latte is delicious, but the fruit smoothie doesn’t fill the cup which is a shame.
