Review: The Proletariat & Public House: A Sober Haven with a Coffee TwistAs a seven-year sober individual, finding a place that caters to a variety of tastes can be challenging. However, The Proletariat & Public House in Galveston has managed to create a unique and inviting space that appeals to both those seeking a vibrant social scene and those who prefer to enjoy a caffeine fix.One of the standout features of The Proletariat is their exceptional coffee selection. Despite the presence of wine, champagne, and other alcoholic beverages, their dedication to crafting exquisite coffees is evident. Whether you're a fan of a classic espresso or prefer a specialty brew, their coffee shines with its rich flavors and expert preparation. It's refreshing to find a place that recognizes the value of a well-crafted cup of joe, even in an environment that offers other tempting libations. The interior of The Proletariat is a sight to behold. With its sophisticated ambiance, it manages to strike a delicate balance between a coffeehouse and a bar. The attention to detail in the design creates an atmosphere that feels welcoming and comfortable, regardless of your beverage preference. For someone like me, who appreciates a tastefully designed space, The Proletariat's interior is a treat for the eyes. What sets The Proletariat apart is its diverse range of events throughout the week. From game nights to poetry nights, there's always something happening to keep patrons entertained. The inclusion of live bands playing outside on the sidewalk adds an extra layer of liveliness to the atmosphere. It's a testament to the establishment's commitment to fostering a sense of community and providing a space for people to come together.Depending on the time of day, you'll find a diverse crowd at The Proletariat. Students can be seen huddled around tables, laptops plugged into outlets conveniently placed in the middle. Some patrons are content with people-watching, while others dress up to enjoy the bar area. It's this eclectic mix of individuals that truly embodies the charm of Galveston, and The Proletariat manages to capture that essence perfectly. One notable aspect of The Proletariat is its extended operating hours. With the establishment open until midnight, it ensures that people can enjoy their favorite beverages and events well into the night. This flexibility is a welcome feature for those who want to relax and unwind after a long day or for those seeking a late-night social gathering spot.In conclusion, The Proletariat & Public House is a gem in Galveston, especially for individuals who appreciate a vibrant yet sober environment. Its dedication to exceptional coffee, combined with a well-designed interior and a diverse range of events, creates a space that appeals to a wide range of tastes. Whether you're a coffee lover, a poetry enthusiast, or simply enjoy the energy of a lively bar scene, The Proletariat is a must-visit destination.

We went to go check out The Galveston Art Walk. The Proletariat is always open with some form of entertainment. They have a selection of beers, wines, a variety of coffee drinks, tea, etc. It's a great place just to come and hang out.

The Proletariat is a fantastic gallery and bar! The coffee is also great, and you can have excellent food delivered from next door. The gallery showcases the best local talent, and visiting during ArtWalk was a treat!
