We were fortunate enough to get a $10 voucher from the city during a Karaoke event at the main square. We went to Dos Banderas and all of the food was great, but it would be nice to have at least one plant based option in the appetizer section as the voucher was only for the openers section supposedly. My husband and I eat only plants and there were no plant options. We asked if we could get guacamole instead and pay any difference and the waitress said no. Should have spoken to the owner....which we did (but not about that), but we ate the wings on the menu anyway. The next day we had acid reflux from the wings...that is the whole reason we eat only plants because eating animal products is not pleasant for our bodies or our health. I think the city paid for the $10 voucher anyway, so it would not have been a loss from Dos Banderas.Food: We had the guacamole, beans, and the cilantro lime wings. That was very filling and tasty that night.Service:Waitress was friendly and patient while we were looking at the menu.Atmosphere:Beautifully remodeled. If there was any music while eating it was low so as to enjoy talking to people you are eating with.Recommendation for owner: Please see if you can add a vegan option on the openers section without animal products at all...cheese or meat or at least if a customer asks if they can substitute something and it is available on the menu, please help your customer out through your waiters. Our meal at Dos Banderas would have been much more pleasant and memorable the next day (acid reflux is painful).

Been going for years, but wasn't all that impressed with this last visit. The tortilla chips were either not cooked all the way or super greasy. Some were very chewy, and could be bent completely without breaking. Enchiladas came out warm. Not cold, but like they had been cooked and left to sit for a few minutes before being brought out, even though the service was very spot on. Wait time from order to receiving food was at most 7-8 minutes maybe. Server was polite, but forget her name.

We continue to enjoy the delicious food and family atmosphere. Molly, Ram and Greg always have a smile and friendly greeting. This is a family business that never disappoints. We highly recommend.

They should bring back call in orders. Its hard to order online while driving home. Also if you can talk to someone they can tell you if the kitchen is behind.

Good Mexican food in a great setting. They did not skimp on the fillings. My wife's cheese enchilada was bursting with cheese. My chimi was equally well filled with fajita meat. I cheated with a combination regular and white cheese queso. A bit spicier than usual, but boy, it was good. The staff were efficient and friendly the way we like it to be.We will be back. And we have been back several times and the food has been consistently good. The chili relleno was a gooey mess after I broke it open and the cheese oozed out. But boy, it was good. My wife went for the fajita nachos. I have no idea how good they were since she would not give me any. When construction in downtown Garland is finished parking will be much less of an issue but it is not too bad right now. You will have to park a city block away (try heading north-east). It is well worth it.9/1/23 progress on the roads is mostly finifhed so parking is a lot better. The restaurant is doing a little remodeling to the outside and to the dining area, but it does not interfere with the dining experience. The charm of the old building definitely is still there. Food is still excellent2/24/24 No real changes to the restaurant except for the big TVs above the front windows. They really are not needed and do detract from the ambiance of the old building. But with the new park in full swing, the people watching is much better and the neighborhood is much improved. Parking is much better.

I had a delicious Grilled Chile Relleno with queso blanco and brisket. The beans and rice were good and the guacamole and pico de gallo were above par. Chips and salsa were good too. The atmosphere is casual, but nice. I look forward to trying some of the other Dos Banderas specialties.

Twice in a row we experienced stale chips and not so great food(my flautas were burned) so we took a break for almost a month. We revisited twice now since and Dos Banderas is back on their game. Chips and salsa is hot and fresh, portion sizes are back to satisfactory, and well, we've never had an issue with staff. They have always been welcoming, and attentive to us. Dos has always been our favorite place to go, and I'm glad whatever happened those two times, they have gone above and beyond to make right. Now, all that's missing is menudo on their weekend menu to make this place our numero uno!
