Fortunate Son is hands down the best pizza spot I’ve been to since the golden days of CiCi’s Pizza as a kid, with TGIF on the big screen. :D The vibes here are absolutely on point! They nail the atmosphere with great music, personable bartenders who know how to keep things fun, and live music from local entertainers.
But what did you really come for after the Portnoy review? The Pizza of course, what really sets Fortunate Son apart is how seriously they take their pizza. I had a great conversation with Lucas, one of the newer bartenders, who told me all about their dough-making process. He even suggested I check out a book on bread fermentation to better understand the magic behind their crust. It’s clear they’re passionate about the craft, and it shows in every bite. I've tried most of the pizzas on the menu, including a gluten option and enjoyed all of them. They also have a full bar and good selection of beer.
Sadly this is why they are not quick to pump out delivery, or open up every seat in the restaurant. Instead they have made a decision to make quality control a top priority which means you need to be prepared to wait and they are open limited hours.
I'm very glad to have them in my home town of Garland, and they are a great addition to the square. This is not the first restaurant venture for the owners as I've been told they own Goodfriend Beer Garden & Burger House which is now on my list to check out soon.

Best pizza I have ever eaten! Order The Original pizza! The others are good but The Original is the best! I'm not a plain cheese pizza person but this pizza is crazy good! Meatballs were good but the sauce was cold. The "Are We Doing This" drink was way too sweet. Bomboloni- Apple pie slider with fennel on top- really gross. (Celebrating a Birthday) BUT THE CHEESE PIZZA WAS AMAZING!!! Bartender and our server were also super friendly. I highly recommend this place. Super cute area and the patio is so beautiful with the huge tree wrapped in lights. Even if you dont live near Garland it's worth the drive!

What a quaint and inviting restaurant. Tucked squarely across from the square in Garland. We arrived around 7pm on a Wednesday and the place was hopping. 20-30 minutes wait for take-out or dine-in. That no talent Ass Clown from Tik Tok has apparently put them on the map so they're seeing a lot of people piling in at all hours. I didn't come here because of that dude's recommendation. My daughter and I were craving pizza ? and decided we would order to-go and bring some home for the rest of the family. I was politely greeted by Joe the bartender who quickly took my order after making some recommendations on the menu. He was running that bar like a Boss! There were people on every stool and he still found time to make my daughter and I feel like VIP guests. He got our order put in right away, then politely offered my daughter a Lemonade and I took him up on his Drink suggestions the Frozen Margarita ? and then later an Old Fashioned both he hand delivered to me in the lounge area. An area that's very inviting with large leather sofas and a very cool coffee table. Lots to see on the walls, the decorations are not that of a typical pizzeria. Very posh and sophisticated vibe throughout. It's Hipster meets Beer Garden. Which makes sense that's apart of their name on the Pizza Box. Do yourself a favor and bring a date, co-worker for happy hour, or the entire family. They have the menu to compliment all types and the service to accommodate as well. Super impressed with Joe and the Fortunate Son staff. We'll definitely be returning in the very near future to try some of the other flavors of pizza and menu items. Also very large outdoor patio area that hosts cornhole boards and tvs. From the ambiance to the kitchen this place is a Homerun, and I don't need to be on Tik Tok to tell you it's legitimately delicious. Glad we have something of this caliber in Texas, surprisingly Garland of all places. ? ? Thanks again Joe for being a Top Notch Bartender! Hats off to the entire team!

I LOVE this place. The vibe is amazing- The food is fresh. Service is on point! There is usually a longer wait for a table (around 45min or so) so do yourself and favor and go out your name down and head down to the arcade nearby for a drink and to kill some time. The cheese pizza is superb. The garlic knots are also fantastic. We have been 2x in the last month and we are definitely on our way to becoming regulars. Try the root beer on tap!

I was really rooting for this place. Their concept is nice with the dining areas, live music at times and their bar. But, I've been having bad experiences. The hostess makes you feel invisible, after being placed on the waiting list you have to check back after seeing people leave. The waitresses are not all trained properly, when I asked what's on tap there was someone who couldn't tell me. On a game night when the outdoor seating tv was off, I asked if they could turn it on. The one in my range of view would not connect and they didn't check back to see if somewhere else would be better or why it wouldn't connect. Sadly, if new haven style pizza is burnt pizza, then it can stay in Connecticut. My child's wings where also overdone. Their pizza is best eaten during your visit as any leftovers will be hard to chew. If you're in the area, I'd recommend heading across the park to intrinsic brewery and getting a chubby unicorn and fried pickles instead. I will try coming again but not anytime soon.

Showed up around noon on a Sunday, was told a 40 minute wait but only waited 4 minutes before our table was ready. Ordered the basic pie but it was anything but. The crust is perfectly chewy and crispy, charred with amazing flavor. The cheese and sauce were fantastic. Easily the best cheese pizza I've had. Looking forward to trying the others, but the hype is very real and very deserved. Nice selection of beers and cocktails, as well. Can't think of anything negative.

Dave got it WRONG! This place is definitely higher then a 8.1! Extremely delicious! Waiter was AWESOME! Traveled from Arlington took off at 10ish arrived at 11:10 parking was already packed and restaurant already had people waiting. We got on the list and waited about 20 minutes. Not bad. Food was out quick. Drive was DEFINITELY WORTH IT! we recently visited NYC and ate at De Lorenzos Dave gave that a 9.2 this was pretty comparable!
