⭐️ If I could give negative stars, I would. ⭐️
I ordered food for pickup through the drive-through in June 2025. We have eaten at this location many times before, but this experience was by far the most traumatic and disgusting one my wife and I have ever had.
I ordered two veggie quesadillas and two teas. They handed us the teas in a bean cup with the straws punched through the lid. I was confused, but tried to give them the benefit of the doubt.
We took the food for a planned picnic. When we opened the food, everything looked okay at first. My wife took a sip of her tea and immediately said it tasted like “toilet water with sugar.” Strike one.
She then took a bite of her quesadilla and said it tasted extremely bitter and dirty. I took one bite of mine, which seemed okay, but at that point, we both decided it wasn’t safe to eat.
Some time later, my wife started saying she didn’t feel well—nauseous and like she needed to throw up. She said this multiple times before I finally asked if she wanted to go to the ER.
We ended up in the emergency room, where she began throwing up repeatedly, over and over, along with diarrhea. She needed IV medications, and the hospital diagnosed her with FOOD POISONING.
I immediately called Frankies and spoke to the manager on duty, Marco, to warn them so no one else would get sick. I went back the same day—angry, yes, but calm—and spoke with him in person. He took the food back and refunded my money, but obviously that does NOT fix the damage that was already done.
I was told to contact Jessica, the GM/owner’s daughter. I emailed her, and at first she seemed empathetic. I met with her at Frankies and provided all documentation, diagnosis, ER bills, everything—nicely organized so they could handle it properly.
Since then? Three months of silence. After three good email exchanges in July, Jessica simply stopped responding. I’ve sent five follow-up emails with NO communication at all.
DO NOT EAT HERE. YOUR HEALTH MAY DEPEND ON IT.
Only after my wife contacted Jessica apologize for not getting to it right away, and we did finally get minimal cooperation. My wife missed the three days from work, over this entire nightmare this caused, it took over a week to recover from the Food Poisoning she went through.
🔥 I’m PISSED OFF. Frankies — NEVER AGAIN. 🔥
And believe me when I say this: I’m putting what happened VERY lightly.
Let me give everyone a huge piece of advice:
TRUST NO ONE when it comes to your food.
Not the restaurant, not the manager, not the excuses.
Because when something goes wrong?
It’s all about what’s happening right then, not what happened in the past — and definitely not what they claim happened.
I even called the City of Garland Health Inspector, because this was THAT serious. They only care about what can be proven, what’s right there in front of them, not stories or apologies.
So here’s the biggest advice I can give anyone who ever deals with a dangerous food situation:
**➡️ SAVE. THE. FOOD.
➡️ SAVE. THE. GARBAGE.
➡️ SAVE. EVERYTHING.**
Because once you throw it away, they’ll act like it never happened.
Frankies will NEVER see another dollar from me.
And people need to know exactly what’s going on before someone else ends up in the ER like my wife did.

My family has eaten at Frankie’s Mexican Food in Garland many times without any major issues, but this recent visit was extremely disappointing and concerning. We placed a take-out order through the drive-thru, ordering a veggie quesadilla, borracho beans, queso, and sweet tea. They informed us that they were out of regular large cups and served the tea in a large food container with a makeshift hole for a straw. They apologized for the inconvenience, but the tea tasted very unpleasant. Within a few hours of eating, I became extremely sick and experienced nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. I had to go to the emergency room, where I was given IV fluids and medication for pain and nausea. I was told it could take several days to recover, and I also missed work due to how severe the symptoms were. This was one of the worst health experiences I’ve ever had. My husband contacted the restaurant, spoke to the manager on duty (Marco), who instructed him to bring back the remaining food and issued a refund. He was also asked to follow up with Manager Jessica Jimenez. Despite multiple calls, emails, and messages, it took weeks before we received any follow-up from her, which added to the frustration. Because of the seriousness of the situation, I also reached out to the City Health Department and was informed that the restaurant had previously been cited for temperature-control concerns. I am sharing this review so others are aware of our experience, and with the hope that the restaurant reviews its food-handling, quality-control, and customer-service processes. I truly hope no other customer goes through anything like this.
Great spot for a business lunch or even a happy hour. Really good food, big menu of choices.

Took a friend and she loved it. I've never had anything that wasn't good. We occasionally go as a group from work and everyone says the food is good.

My office placed a lunch (pick-up ) order from Frankie's . Typically we have no issues but, today we did. 1. The chips for salsa taste burnt. 2. I ordered crispy chicken tacos, rice and black beans. When I opened my lunch the beans were pinto instead of black.
This is my lunch and since I don't have anything else, I start to eat. As I'm eating the beans I see a black unidentified object. YUCK!!!!
I called and spoke with the manager (Josh) who apologized and he offered to make me another plate. Since I couldn't go back to get it. He told me the next time i come in, he will give me a free meal. Not sure how they will know it's me or if I will ever go back.
Either way, I should of asked for my money back.

I'm typically not impressed with restaurants with food I can make at home, but Frankie's is special enough I do out of my way to go there. Good unique menu items, great chips and salsa, and their super hot serrano pepper salsa is to die (sorta) for.
The food was fine and came out fast. Our sever Guadalupe Q. was very rude though, we were kind to her and they weren't even busy, but she still acted like we were a major inconvenience to her. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but that's still no excuse to treat paying customers poorly.
