Not too far off the beaten path, just off of highway 183 between Lampasas and Austin is this wonderful General Store which serves an awesome lunch. We always opt for the burger and fries with a soda pop of which there are many to choose from. We love the friendliness of the visitors who have welcomed us to sit at their table, when busy, and the shop keeper who takes our order and brings our meal to our table when we visit. Burger was good; I'm not at all disappointed for talking their recommendation of the green Chili cheeseburger (although I should have specified i wanted it cooked medium - it came well done but still somewhat juicy). The bun was flat but delicious. Service was friendly & it's amazing that a little place like this just happens to have einstök toasted porter on draft.

The burgers and onion rings were absolutely wonderful and the staff were so helpful and friendly. We shared a table with another gentleman, as it was pretty busy, and had a great visit with a total stranger. What a fantastic experience.
