Catfish Parlour Georgetown

Went in at 6 pm on Sunday March 9. Walked in and waited to get our table. Several empty tables. Couple in front of us went to wait in lobby area. When we walked up they asked our name which I was confused especially since there were several open tables. I said confused. We have to WAIT? I said how long and she looked at the other ladies and they said 15-20 minutes. We left at that point. We drove all the way from burnet. Now anyone with the public knows perception’s are reality! If you are making guest wait when there are 3 ladies that never left the hostess area not including the lady at the bar. We’ve been going to eat at catfish parlour for over 40 years so hopefully management sees this and will think about losing customers due to poor management of wait staff. Maybe the management should have to pick up the pace.

Coming back to amend this review - in a good way!

I grew up going to the Catfish Parlour on 183 in Austin - my parents loved that place. They don't eat out often, but say Catfish Parlour and you'll get even my Dad out of the house lol so we were all bummed when that location closed down about 4 years ago. And theeeeen I moved to Jarrell and found that they have a location in Georgetown! The one in South Austin is still open but it's changed, it's just not the same.

This Georgetown location though - yeesssssss. I brought my parents here for lunch yesterday and my mom was so happy lol

The catfish is so good! I've gotten it fried and grilled/blackened and both ways it comes out so juicy and delicious.
The fried oysters just melt in your mouth like butter. LIKE BUTTA!
And the shrimp. I have no negative remarks about the food.

Green beans, cabbage, okra, mashed potatoes and gravy. And omg the hushpuppies. Find a place that makes better hushpuppies, I dare you!

The wait staff, the cooks, the food - yes. *high five*

Ordered 2 small plates and a side of corn nuggets for pick up. The catfish was over fried and over seasoned. The Okra was dark and dripping of grease. And the Corn nuggets didn’t come with the ordered template sauce. I picked it up from a snotty waitress. I wondered why? Because they didn’t get the lowest 50% TIP.? That would be speculation, but whatever it is, there is a problem or a change in that place that is different and will keep me away from that place.

I was there for lunch. While they offer multiple kinds of fish they are known for their catfish which is what I got. You get a choice of mild or spicy. Service was polite, fast and friendly. Food was hot and tasty.

A short wait, but friendly and efficient service. Hushpuppies and jalapeño tartar sauce almost worth the 35 minute drive, very good. Catfish fillets nice size, breading was thick (added flour with the cornmeal) caused filets to be oily and bland. Slaw was good, not as pungent as in the past. Pinto beans good, green beans mushy. $15 for the light plate, but 3 good size fillets. Very good server.

Generally good food for lunch. Sometimes the steamed vegetables are overcooked and have a mushy texture. Otherwise fair.
