Everything that is correct about society is summed up in this small town restaurant. Great food, friendly people, nice atmosphere.

Don’t tell anyone! Southside Tavern is our main weekend goto. Living in an extremely rural place, we’re used to driving 30 minutes to just get a burger and fries. Having Southside, 20 minutes away is great! Everything about this place is perfect for us. I agree, food, service and atmosphere like you expect in Austin, but without the Austin weirdos.

I love the food and atmosphere here. I have always received polite and courteous service from the staff here. The food has a robust flavor that is paired well with a large selection of wines and spirits.

Top-notch restaurant/bar you’d expect to find in a much larger city! Located on the Goldthwaite square, not a fancy location, but very laid back with cool details like a local black walnut bar top milled by the owners.Nice craft beer selection. Our fried green tomatoes (maybe pickled?) were crisp (great coating), hot and tasty.Meatloaf medallions were moist and perfect with great sauce and her salad was huge and tasty.Definitely worth a stop!Kid-friendliness: Family-oriented with outside space

Good restaurant! We visited on a Thursday at lunch and there was plenty of open seating. The interior is nicely done. We ordered several burgers, chicken sandwich and the meatloaf sliders. Everything was pretty good. The fries were my favorite! The wait after ordering was a lot longer than expected and customer service was ok. We would visit again if hungry in the area.

The pulled pork nacho fries are what keeps us coming back for sure. Get there early or service takes too long. They are awesome though.

Multiple unfortunate issues 1. Food descriptions weren't very accurate: the server said the whiskey sauce was sweet, however it was extremely spicy and induced a reaction in my husband who has a food allergy to capsaicin (found in peppers). He couldn't eat the sauce, but the burger was cooked medium well as ordered. 2. When the remade bacon burger was brought to the table it was so raw it was cold and bloody instead of cooked as ordered and had to be returned again. At that point my husband gave up. 3. The drink from the bar was horrible. The bartender said she realized after she made it they were out of their "diet cranberry soda" and that's why it wasn't right, which may have been the case if that was indeed an actual ingredient in the drink I ordered. 4. However, a fully stocked bar (and a bartender who doesn't hesitate when asked if she can make a certain drink) would lead patrons to presume competance. 5. Finally, regardless of these issues and a mediocre review, the owner (?) made excuses and suggested we find a different establishment should we find ourselves in town again. Sarcastically claiming "small town" establishments can't live up to visitor expectations is a a disservice to all patrons and simply an acceptance of poor standards.Hand cut sweet potato fries were awesome, though.
