Blue quail is an absolute staple for Goliad and it has been since the early 2000s at least. The service has always been excellent but it has definitely changed over the years. Miss Patti ran the restaurant for 21 years roughly and she was always a friendly face for the establishment. During her time running the restaurant you always got a warm welcome when you came in and if you happened to be a regular it was impossible for her not to remember your face and welcome you anytime you found yourself hungry. Around August of 2025 the restaurant was renovated and she retired. It has always been a small town mom and pop place and even with the renovation and expansion of the restaurant it still holds that feeling. Now it is ran by a mother and daughter and they have done an exceptional job of pushing the restaurant to thrive. Mady, who is the one currently running operations, came from culinary school and has really helped to keep Blue Quail the place to go, and is even making huge strides in pushing it to the next level. The service is always friendly and the food is excellent. My only complaint is the prices of the food, which I find to be more comparable to that which you’d see in Austin. Otherwise I’d strongly recommend checking it out if you are around Goliad!

This place was nothing short of excellent. We walked in to a very modern, updated establishment that was clean and well taken care of. They had hard copy menus and digital menu behind the counter. Excellent service. The food was excellent. We had the half sandwich and soup. 1 Ruben sandwich with their famous jalapeño soup. Both were excellent but the soup was the star. Definitely spicy but it had an excellent deep flavor. The roast beef sandwich and Tuscan soup was also top notch. If ever passing through or want to enjoy the old town square, I would highly recommend dropping in, even for a soup. Thank you again.

Very disappointed. I asked a simple question about the price of a meal vs getting the same things a la carte. Never got an answer, even after asking repeatedly. Dessert used to come with the special. Not any more. Staff was clearly stressed. Not what it used to be. Not at all.

CLOSED!! The owner did not show that the business is closed on Google. We specifically drove out based on reviews.

Good service and good sandwiches although they're small portion sizes. They were out of the Cream of Jalapeno soup unfortunately.

Way too Expensive of a subpar sandwich shop. Had pastrami sandwiches, chips and a drink for my wife and i. The meat was tough and stringy. Neither myself or wife finished the sandwiches. Our grandson did have the kids grilled cheese sandwich. With tip, our meals totaled well over $50 dollars, that's for sandwiches for lunch, really? That's a shame, with the cost of the food and the food being subpar. Originally we planned to come up, as we have several times in the past from the Corpus Christi area just to eat at Deborah's Kitchen but unfortunately for us they were closed. They have moderately priced home cooked food that's really good. Had we known Deborah's was closed we would not have come to Goliad. What a lesson we learned with a poor yet expensive cost and with subpar food that was served to us. We will NOT return for sandwiches, that's for sure!

Best sandwiches ever! I LOVE Pam’s Panini. And the soups!!! Definitely plan a stop here! There’s also a cute antiques shop right across the street you can visit while you wait! Love Blue Quail Deli!

Yum. Went because I saw it on the TV show Daytripper. Lived up to the hype. The cream of jalapeno soup was so worth it. I dipped my sandwich into the soup to clean the bowl and get all the little bits of jalapeno. Little more expensive than most sandwich shops, but you get a way better product. If you want cheap, go to the Whataburger up the street. If you want good food, come here.

Parking: You park right on the town square and walk right up.

Kid-friendliness: They have awesome grilled cheese for the little ones.

Great small town sandwich restaurant. Today I had the brisket sandwich meat was a little dry but the sauce makes it up, the jalapeno cream soup is next level.
Definitely coming back.

Omg. Plz plz plz go inside and try there cream of jalapeño soup. It’s so so so good. You might even want to go back there just for this. Loved it.

Also had Vegetarian Panini. Nothing special but today’s day saver was the soup.

Vegetarian options: Jalapeño soup and Veggie Panini are good options for vegetarians

Mind and palate absolutely blown. My sister and I recently visited from Chicago with our grandma who’s from Victoria. She recommended we have lunch at Blue Quail while visiting Goliad and insisted we try the jalapeño soup. Wow! BEST SOUP IV’E EVER EATEN, hands down! We also both ordered Pam’s panini which was delicious! The only negative was that I couldn’t take Blue Quail back to Chicago with us! Hoping to dine in again in the future!
