Interesting thing to see in the beautiful downtown area of Goliad. The Hanging tree is huge and there is also a rope that hangs from it so that you can visualize where the hangings took place. The tree is beautiful and interesting and impressive.
This place never disappoints. Very good, freshly-prepared comfort food, reasonably priced. Had the "classic cheeseburger" this time, with side of hand-battered onion rings. Chargrilled perfectly and served on a soft jalapeño bun; add the crunchy onion rings and it was a taste sensation. It's interesting to walk around and peruse the vintage hub caps, big fish tank, turtle shells, etc. If you're into hunting or taxidermy you'll likely appreciate the decor. We saw this one while touring the courthouse square. Very beautiful tree. My wife and I were told that they have a market day on the 2nd Saturday of each month with vendor booths surrounding the courthouse. Cool!
