Staff and I presume the manager were arguing about rising their prices right in front of us, it had cost SO much for just some simple drinks, and overall, the experience was bad.

Just stopped for a bathroom break but as i walked in it kinda felt like a very mini buccees.. brisket burgers, good crisp and fresh sandwiches and steak burritos are at a grab as you go area next to the delicious bakery. I've tried many options in food and pastries and so far no complaints. And I usually do complain. Restrooms are nice, spacious and tidy. They also have a nice selection of last minute gifts and souvenirs.

Got a fresh grilled cheeseburger and it was delicious. Had to wait a while but it was worth. Tasted like one dad cooked out on the grill and loaded with toppings. The beaver can beat it.

Stopped by the Monahans location every year during my trips to the border and it’s always clean and stocked. Food was fresh and good , bathrooms were clean .

Large supreme pizza $18.99 before tax, seems pricey but fed 3 adults and still had leftovers, loaded with toppings almost made it hard to eat (good problem), staff members both wore gloves while preparing and put on new gloves before taking out of the oven, the wait was 10-15 minutes and took so long because they sliced the ingredients fresh before loading onto pizza. Very tasty for a gas station pizza, rivals restaurant quality! Highly recommend.
The BBQ Sandwiches are delicious!! The drink selection is huge! It will definitely be our local go to stop in Portland, TX.

Take it from a constant traveler that the restrooms are very clean, tacos are delicious and the raspberry tea is a must for me. I always look forward to stopping at The Texan.

I was a manager for the Texan, I started in late August/September 2023,I started as a cashier, due to me having cancer for the second time, I wasn’t able to work for a number of years, then I moved up quickly and became lead cashier and then moved on to Assistant Manager, the opportunity came for me to have my own store, I worked very hard, with little to no help, a store that was in bad shape, I brought that store up, passed the health inspection that failed the last time, worked 70-80 hours a week, short handed, I had to make my store shine, and I did, my mom got really sick and I needed to go to her, I was told I would get help so I could be with her, to no avail., I was always in trouble for the past managers wrong doing, trying to constantly find paperwork that the previous manager had just thrown in a box. Mind you, I had only one janitor, I was taking out trash, cleaning toilets, mopping, stocking the coolers, stocking shelves. My assistant manager was totally amazing and she helped me a lot. Finally I was totally overwhelmed, no help, just was always told get this done today without fail. I finally cracked. I was so exhausted and fed up with being told I would get help. I had to quit. I’m financially struggling and asked to get my job back just to cover my bills, they said no. There’s no loyalty with the Texan. Then they put a black mark on my background check, mind you, I’ve never had a criminal history, now I can’t get a job anywhere thanks to the Texan. I’ve been hired 4 times, then they get my background, and suddenly I’m not hireable. I have an appointment with the local TV stations to tell and show them proof of my achievements and how I was done wrong and The Texan ruined my life. A little side note, they have criminals that are high up, but me, not having any criminal history, they ruined my life. I’m going to copy this page and post on my page and tik tok. Make this go viral!!!

I would give inside and people give stars but falling flat on your face gets one deducted. Clearly it's a problem but either level out the second step or throw some paint on it the watch your step sign makes us watch for the first step not the killer one. Paint it or fix it!!!!
