Stumbled into this find today! They were just opening up for lunch and we were greeted warmly by what turned out to be our waitress.Good food, good service and a wonderful historic building to boot. When in Granbury make sure to stop!

The salmon had no flavor and the shrimp cocktail was warm like they thawed the shrimp in Hot water. Would of also wished they would of told us what the special was.

Bottom line first, we will not be going back to this restaurant since their signature dish is deception. One, if you use a credit card, they charge nearly $2 just for the swipe but don’t expect this information to be written anywhere much less for anyone to give you a heads up when they take your card. If you try to get out of this by using a debit card, the staff will still run it as a credit card. When this was brought up (that a debit card was given), they would not run the card again to save the customer money. Two, if you decide to split a plate with a friend or your child, they charge $2 PER PERSON. Again, don’t expect to be told about this or read it anywhere before your bill comes. We had a group of 8, six people split, so the business made $12 on top of menu price for no extra work. The menu seems like a slap in the face in hindsight, where they have dishes labeled as “GREAT FOR SHARING!”Three, we went for lunch around noon on a Saturday. At this restaurant, once the weekend starts, everything is considered dinner. As you might have figured, the staff will keep this a secret too.Four, about that group of 8… you would think by now the surprise charges would’ve been enough but hold on. Any group over 6 is charged a mandatory 25% (!!!) gratuity. That kind of tip should be reserved for exceptional service, but it was merely adequate. It seems tipping etiquette was thrown out the window once we walked in the door. A big mystery remains though: was the gratuity applied to the extra $12 for splitting plates? Looking at this business’s behavior in other areas, it probably was.The staff attempted to explain all this from a business perspective, but a business that relies on screwing the customer over in an economy like this one does not deserve anyone’s business.

They charged each person $2 extra dollars to “split” a plate. Even on entrees that didn’t require extra plates. So if two ppl split a plate it was $4 extra for the same amount of food as of one person was eating it. They do not disclose this prior to ordering. They also charged a gratuity of 25% for groups over 6 without disclosing this prior. They charged me a credit card surcharge when I used my debit card and when asked they said that my card must be able to be ran as a credit card and that was that. I ordered a plate at lunch time and was charged for the dinner portion and when I asked they stated that on weekends they charge dinner prices. I wish they would have communicated all these extra charges ahead of time instead of adding a ton of fees to our receipt after eating. When we brought it up to the manager she stated it was a business and passive aggressively said “well I’m glad y’all ate all yalls food”. We had no issues with the food. We were explaining they should have disclosed this information bc it was very deceptive.

The food here is fantastic, but the service is what led me to write a review. Bailey was a fantastic bartender, and when I left my purse at the bar Dallas carried it all the way down the square in the cold to bring it to me at a different restaurant. Great food, great drinks, better people!

Really enjoyed our dinner here tonight. We came in on a Friday right before six with six people and got right in. They had coloring sheets for the kids and a good selection of drinks. I had the salmon with vegetables and a salad paired with the moscato, all delicious! Other recommendations from the table: fish tacos, fried catfish with tarter sauce and the kids hamburger ;) worth mentioning their cute little bar, perfect for eating on your own or with a friend ❤️Kid-friendliness: Coloring sheets, good fries and hamburger ?
