There are only two seafood items on the menu. Burgers were dry and hard. Cold, too. They need to update the menu. I don't like the P.C. condiments, either. Go back to the old menu.

Two seafood items only, burgers were dry and hard. Only thing good was catfish. I am willing too give it a 2nd chance. Don't like the P.C. condiment.

As you can tell by now, reading all the reviews, this place is nothing like it used to be. I went a while back and was really disappointed. I was looking at the menu online and saw all kinds of stuff I wanted. Fried alligator, shrimp cocktail, gumbo, etc. DON'T BE FOOLED. None of these items actually exist. The menu is very small. They basically have a cheeseburger or a chicken sandwich and a few other odds and ends. We got two cheeseburgers with bacon on them. it came with fries. I also got an order of nachos as an appetizer. The burgers were kind of okay and had a good flame broiled flavor, but the patties were the same size as you would get on a McDonald's cheeseburger. The fries were good. The nachos looked and tasted like something you would get at a high school football game concession stand. Not to mention, they came out the same time as the cheeseburgers. Here's the kicker. When you walk in the door, they hand you a menu and tell you to stand in line to order. After about 10 minutes, with only one party in front of us, we finally made it through this order with the help of two separate people at different times. There seemed to be some kind of confusion on the drinks or something because they had water and tea already set out so you could get your own drink. We both had tea. This same station was where you got your packs of condiments. They can't put mustard on a burger in the kitchen. You must do that yourself. Anyway they gave me a number and a short time later they brought the food to the table. So here we are with two bacon cheeseburgers, an order of nachos, and two teas that we had to serve ourselves. The total for this order was 53 dollars and some change. Is it me, or does that seem to be a little high. I tipped 6 bucks and something to make it an even 60 dollars. (They ask for that ahead of time for some reason.) I guess the tip was for the guy bringing out our food because there was no way in hell someone was coming to your table and asking if you needed a refill. Some of these pictures and reviews aren't even from this place. And the which dishes do you recommend list below when you are writing a review is about 70% incorrect. Can we get it back like it was like 10 years ago? I know covid took a toll on a lot of businesses, but come on. Lease it out to someone who wants to run a successful business. For Pete's sake, it's the only marina on Joe pool lake. FIX IT.

It is still trying to figure itself out. It is a fast food place trying to be nice. Limited meal options, but high prices. Counter service but kinda table service. You go to the counter, but have to wait to get items, including drinks. Only seafood options are fried shrimp and a daily special of catfish (not on menu). They do not know who is getting what. Long wait for a counter service place. Once received, the food was good. About the time we were almost done, we finally got our drinks. Choking down a chicken sandwich loses appeal quickly. Onion rings were really good though. No refills, because they ran out of tea ?. Apparently, you can only get water and bar drinks. The patio was nice. The dining area was stuffy. Nice views. It could be great.

Not the same as before.Orders must be placed at the front desk or bar. The few staff members there were very nice and friendly. The menu is fairly limited and mostly "bar food" instead of restaurant quality. The outside patio was nice this time of year and it is one of the only reasons to visit IMHO.

The customer service was great. The waitress was lovely. If you like your food with a lot of seasoning, you came to the right place. The place is a bit pricey but the food is good. The fries are not good, but I didn't care since everything else was good.

Limited menu. I expected to eat some really good seafood but only could order a shrimp basket. Very disappointed. I know they’re under new management so I will try again in some months to see if things changed.

Fix your A/C! The workers treated us well and the food was pretty good. I love the location and being near the water and seeing the fish and ducks, but they really need to do something about their a/c. The restaurant was hot and we were sweating the whole time. Bartender told us the a/c was on, but did not feel like it at all. It was cooler outside than in the restaurant. There isn't a lot of options on the menu either.

We have been going to this restaurant for years. When it was under the previous ownership and called “The Oasis at Joe Pool Lake” it was fantastic! You could get seafood, sandwiches, burgers, salads and other great comfort foods. We arrived at about 3:00 pm ready for some great fish and shrimp. We walked in and the place was totally empty save for 4 people sitting at the bar. The two large dining rooms were totally empty and so was the outdoor patio. We waited in line at the bar where a sign was posted “Order here”. I saw a menu on one of the tables at the bar and they were serving hamburgers and a few sandwiches. We drove from Burleson with high hopes only to turn around and go to Fish City Grill. Don’t get me wrong, Fish City Grill has fantastic food but we wanted the al fresco eating at the lake vibe. It was a beautiful day and winter is over so it was just calling us to the lake. I don’t know if the new place “The Shack” is just starting to open or what but when I asked the manager what had happened to the restaurant he only replied they didn’t have servers and they had to make changes. Hopefully the restaurant will eventually get back to the way it used to be. It was a very popular place and Spring and Summer is just around the corner. I wish them the very best of luck and hope we can visit one of our favorite places again.
