I guess I will just have to stick to other local African restaurants after today. I ordered okra soup with fish, although I usually order egusi. I have been coming here for over 2 years, by the way... The size of the container for the okra was literally half the size of the normal container they use (and I literally just came last week). That small container of okra soup was filled up abount 1/6th the height of the container. It was about 6 spoonfuls of okra..... Such a ripoff. I paid $18+ for this and foolishly left a tip before checking my food. The fish they added was not up to par. Today it was several hard, skinny leftover bits instead of the 2 large pieces I am used to. I ended going to Ts Buka for plain okr soup to make up for Yemsades sad dish. It was only $10, and they added free red stew and a freefuture, plus the container was large and full. I have supported Yemsade for 2+ years despite the shop looking unkempt and unsanitary, and despite some of the workers being of questionable character (once a troubled male, who claimed to be the owner's son, kept hitting on me and telling me about his legal troubles until I gave him a fake phone number). You have lost a customer in your greed. Never again.

First time ordering from here and efo riro is one of my favorite foods. Initially, I would have given this a 3 star because the flavors were good but the proportions were a war crime. ESPECIALLY for the insane prices they charge. They gave me MAYBE 1/4 full small contain of both the efo riro and abula with barely any meat.

But then, 2 hours later, I was puking it all up and was thankful that the proportions were so small. Was sick for about 3 hours and will never eat from here again.

Everything is excellent, except for the portion sizes, which are hit or miss. My mom and me order from here monthly, if not biweekly. The portion sizes and containers vary.

There were some beautiful African aunties and uncles in the restaurant, dressed from head to toe in traditional Nigerian attire. Modest yet elegant, their appearance brought a smile to my face, it was refreshing to see something different from the usual social norm.

The service was excellent, although I did have one unpleasant encounter with a young man, a customer, who was rude when I asked where he was from. He simply clicked his teeth and walked out after getting his food. I don’t understand why some Nigerians can be rude to Black Americans like that, but no hard feelings... maybe he was just having a bad day.

As for the food, it wasn’t as flavorful as I had hoped. I expected it to really hit, but only some dishes stood out. The jollof rice was spicy and delicious, and the plantains added a nice sweetness that balanced the savory flavors. The chicken, however, seemed under-seasoned and a bit tough, though everything was served hot and fresh.

The atmosphere felt warm and familiar, like stepping into a great uncle or great aunt’s home, with old-fashioned décor and dimmed lighting. It truly felt like home.

We had the pleasure of finding this hidden gem of a carry out a restaurant with authentic African cuisine. They had a variety of meats and plantain and meat pies that can be purchased as well.

Worse Egusi and FuFu ever.. When I walked in I should’ve turned and walked back out. Stuff was everywhere, it look like a run down apt rather than a restaurant. The meat was over cooked in the Egusi Souo and the soup was missing something. On top of it tasting WILD. I was wasted $19 stopping here cause I threw that food away.
