A Hidden Gem with Heart and Flavor
I had such a beautiful experience at this Black-owned barbecue spot! I first met the owner a few months ago, and when I saw her again around Mother’s Day, she kindly invited me to bring my mom by for lunch. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming you can tell she truly cares about her customers like family. She carried a quiet strength, paired with a sweet and humble personality that made the experience feel even more special. That kind of spirit speaks volumes about the heart behind the business.
From the moment we walked in, the energy was peaceful and inviting. The restaurant was clean, the vibe was just right, and the staff especially our waitress was incredibly attentive.
And let’s talk about the food… absolutely delicious. My kids tore it up, and even my mom, who can be a little picky, truly enjoyed herself. The portions were generous, and the prices? Surprisingly affordable for the quality and hospitality we received.
This place is a gem in the community. We’ll definitely be back!

This family owned business is wonderful!! I love it so much because they are Christians who are believers. A lit of love goes into preparing their dishes. They are so warm and welcoming! The food is delicious, especially the brisket which is all time favorite! Get in early enough because the food is so good they run out with fewer selections, possibly a selection that you really wanted. From the meat to the dessert, it is finger linking good! They have 2 locations, one in Gun Barrel City, Texas and the other in Kemp, Texas. You will not be disappointed if you love exceptional barbeque!!! Please, visit.

Finally got to try today! My neighbor got me craving the ribs. As she says....Ribs from Heaven and she is right! Fall off the bone and no sauce needed. Lady's working made me feel like a regular. Smiles and friendly service. Prices are good for BBQ and lower than most. A little under $60 for a family of 8 meal with extra side and 1/2 rack of ribs. We will definitely be back!!!

You can't get good BBQ in NY. I've been smoking meats for years. I know good BBQ. The combo of quality and price here is unbeatable. I'll be stopping here every time I'm in TX.

They ran out early and, in a BBQ joint, you know that's a good sign! I almost never recommend places to eat. I rarely did it in Abilene when we lived there, but the owners at Slap N' Good are truly precious and have amazing food for an unheard of price! We'll definitely be back!
