You have to stand in line and order at the counter. I tried a variety of stuff. Barbacoa tacos, kolaches, and pastry. It was all terrible. The kolaches were dry and thin, pastry was mushy, and the barbacoa (I really knew better) was the worst I've ever had. It was lazily just diced up with every bit of meat, gristle, and chunks of that rubbery fat stuff. There was no condiments for them either. I was given salsa, but there was no lime, cilantro, onion, etc. I will never return to this place.

This is not a fancy place but they offer a large selection of traditional czech and German pastries, sausage and ham rolls (klobasnek), homemade breads, donuts, and cookies and pies. They also have good breakfast tacos and a breakfast menu. They have great lunch and dinner specials as well. This place is set up for morning coffee groups and locals and a must for area deer hunters. The dining area is crowded at peak times, but it's a local favorite. They will make cakes if you special order them. My daughter loves their cinnamon rolls so much, we had them create them as a wedding cake. It was perfect!

I tried the blueberry kolaches and a chocolate donut they were both delicious. Wonderful Customer Service by Eric and Effie. The Pecan Pie was fantastic. Customer Service by Emily was fantastic she was very friendly and helpful.

The kolaches I purchased from this bakery are not like regular fruit kolaches. Disappointed to say the least. Taste like canned fruit with a dry kolache dough.

Don’t Pass Up Kountry Bakery! Spotted the sign heading into Hallettsville and figured, why not? Found it easy, and WOW—so glad we stopped. Pastries everywhere, and yes… fresh dewberry pie!
But let me tell you about lunch. I got the grilled chicken sandwich—fully loaded with lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, onions, pickles, and cheese. Normally I’d say “hold this, skip that,” but this time I went all in. And oh my gosh… perfection.
My friend had the chicken noodle soup, and instead of a bowl of broth with a few bits floating in it, this one was stuffed with meat and veggies. Bonus points for the sweet cornbread on the side.
Traveling through? This place is a definite YES. Bakery, lunch, and small-town charm all in one stop.

A very quaint experience. Has a mom and pop feel. Food was excellent they have burgers and sandwiches and specials of the day which are a little bit more like a hot plate. You can get all sorts of desserts donuts and pies and kolaches you name it you can probably find it.
