Bobby J's Old Fashioned Hamburgers

Pure Texas hospitality and ambiance at this hamburger joint in Helotes. Our family ordered everything from the "Baby Burger" to the Bavarian Patty Melt to fries and onion rings to fried okra and let me tell you, it was all exceptionally good! After your first bite you notice how fresh the meat in their patties is...so juicy and seasoned perfectly. Onion rings, okra and fries are all crisp and golden brown. The food does take about 15-20 minutes to make but it's fresh and well worth it! There's games for you to play while you wait - we played Connect Four. Such a relaxing and welcoming change of atmosphere to enjoy some great burgers with your family and friends. Will definitely be back to try more of their extensive Burger menu! ❤️?

We ordered the half pound cheddar jalapeno burger and the burger salad and fries and a side of grilled onions on a Thursday evening. Not crowded at all, with a short line to order up front. But don't go on a Monday, Tuesday or Wed. because they're not open due to the lack of workers! Come on younger generation! Do an honest days work and serve some great food so they can be open 7 days of the week! The food was good! The fries were excellent! We r coming back!

This was the 1st time at bobby j's. I really enjoyed the rustic country feel to the store. Upon arriving I was pleased with the vibe and atmosphere. 3 stars for the taste and quality of the food. The chicken sandwich was very good. The reason for the 1 star deduction was because the wait was wildly long. 20 minutes to wait in line to order. Placed at 6:08PM (per receipt) received food at 7PM. Close to an hour was rough. The 2nd star being deducted was because the table was dirty and I had to get water from my straw and clean it and wipe myself. If the wait was cut in half and the table was cleaner I dont mind giving those 2 missing stars. 5 stars can easily be obtained with this good food. Enjoy!

And great place to have a burger. Been going there for years and it never fails to satisfy. The burgers are big and filling and I need to order. I highly recommend getting the fried jalapenos which they call bottle caps. They are good by themselves and I like to order them on the side and add them to my burger. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is very accommodating. Definitely recommend giving them a shot

Burgers and fries were cooked to perfection. Great job guys excellent meal.

Nothing fancy about this place but pretty good burgers. Staff was friendly. I'd stop by here again if passing through Helotes!

We've been coming here for years and the food has always been top notch. Good selection of different types of burgers and even have some vegetarian options. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Flavor: A+Service: ATea: BSolo dining: AI can't believe I've lived in SA for two years without discovering this place. It's stolen a spot in my top five burgers. I got the western per the recommendation of my order-taker (although it's what I had my eye on anyway). No disappointment. The patty looks homemade and is flavorful. It's juicy but not greasy. The onion rings and fries are delicious. Just like the homemade ranch dressing. The only thing less than awesome the tea - they've got sweet, unsweetened, raspberry, and peach - all homemade - which scored some major points - except that all of them were weak and the sweet ones were barely sweet. But I'll get over that because everything else was so good. It's probably a good thing this place isn't closer to me. But that won't stop me from making it back.

The owner is an awesome guy. 5 lb Mighty Godzilla challenge. The food was very flavorful.

I guess I should have trusted my nose on entering. The first sniff smelled like a Gulf of Mexico shrimp boat head. (toilet) The John is right there by the order counter, drink fountain. So 2 of us order bacon cheese burgers w/ rings and drinks. $37. WOW! I'm expecting homemade burgers and rings. NOT. Guy brings us 2- FSA grilled frozen patty burgers, and frozen fried greasy, soggy rings. Burgers have 1 Roma tomato sized slice each. Unbelievable. Steer clear of this joint!

Food is always good and hot. Love the cheeseburgers and fried pickles.

Excellent Old Fashion Burgers…the whole menu is great!

I can't find anything positive to say. I preordered the food and arrived at the time it was to be ready. I had to stand in line also 30 minutes to get food. It was tasteless and grease laden. If I had not paid for the meal when ordering, I would have left because the place look dirty and gross.

It is definitely old fashioned. The burger were made fresh to order. Had the 1/3 pound burger and it is plenty big and filling. The burger itself is not too expensive but when you make it a meal,with fries and drink, the it can be pricey. We had 3 burger meals and a large mushrooms appetizers for $45..

Decent burger! Thin, large patties and decent toppings. I personally prefer a thick juicy burger, but these thin ones were nice. Chili cheese fries were solid, the salad was weak. I was happy to support local businesses. Everything pictured (plus a cookie) was $18.
