Awesome place to stop in while passing through, don’t be concerned by the fact that it shares a building with a gas station, food is incredible especially the beans. Must eat in Hico

A surprising little spot...cliché gas station food this is not. The fish tacos were deliciously seasoned with only onions and cilantro garnishing.... delightful. Fajita chicken was also seasoned nicely and the Verde hot sauce was such a good accompaniment...nice heat but not overpowering. On our long day's drive from OKC to San Antonio, this was a wonderful repast.

Don Julio’s is everything great about small town Mexican food. Family owned, reasonably priced; food is fresh and savory. The birria quesadillas are a must try.

Everyone seems to have a great gas station taco Mexican food story and now I have mine. This is a small, family run, authentic Mexican restaurant and it did not disappoint. Reasonable prices, excellent food. While it may be short on ambience--except that it is exactly what it should be, do not miss this. Probably the best beef enchilada I have ever had--just really well done. Highly recommend this hidden gem in Hico.

I'm somewhat of a Mexican food snob. Having worked in Mexico for a long time, i got spoiled on the real thing. In Texas, it's tough to find GOOD Mexican food. It's mostly Tex/Mex. Street tacos however are finally catching on and there are some decent places in Texas. The best I've found are in San Antonio and one in Dallas. Today, ironically my Jeep broke down in Hico Texas and we got hungry. We found this little place and figured what the heck. My son and i ordered pork (al pastor) and beef (asada) street tacos. The wife ordered a chicken fajita chimichaga. When the street tacos arrived both my son and i looked at each other like, "wow! We found something special here!" I seriously think these tacos are in the top 5 taquerias I've eaten at in Texas... They're that good! The owner came out and asked if the food was good and was a very friendly guy. My wife's chimichaga was one of the best she's eaten according to her. My brothers came down from Dallas to tow my broken down jeep and i bought 6 more tacos for them to go. I didn't say anything about how good i thought they were and with one bite, they were like, "damn! Where'd you get these!? Best tacos I've eaten in a long time" we all agreed when going through Hico, were stopping every time now. The prices were excellent as well. Can't recommend this place enough.. a solid 10 out of 10..i maintain a list of restaurants in Texas for several categories. For Mexican food, this one just got added to Centavos top 10 taqueria's in Texas. A favorite!

Small restaurant with a huge authentic vibe. Chile rellenos are fantastic. They serve you chips, salsa and charro beans when you are seated. The charro beans are delicious! Highly recommend

This place is an absolute winner! We pulled up and I was skeptical about Mexican food next door to a gas station, but the reviews were good so we tried it. They have quesabirria tacos, the chille rellenos were huge and perfect. Tortillas are homemade, guacamole is fresh and delicious, and the green salsa is spicy, creamy and delicious too. Fajitas were perfect, the charro beans were phenomenal too. Queso was on point, I cannot recommend this place enough. We spoke at length with the owner and you can tell he is really passionate about what he does. Definitely recommend this spot.

Google said they were open. The sign on the door said they were open. There were people inside the building, but, the door was locked and we assume they were closed. Very frustrating.
