An absolutely unforgettable dining experience with Chef Billy! Every course was beautifully prepared, perfectly balanced, and showcased incredible freshness and creativity. You can really taste the passion and attention to detail in every bite. The omakase flowed perfectly from start to finish; elegant, thoughtful, and truly special. The atmosphere was intimate and welcoming.

I would describe omakase here as part stand-up comedy show and part food. The chef / owner seems like a super nice guy and talks pretty much the whole meal with some moderately funny jokes. Given the chef is such a nice guy, it pains me to write this, but in my humble opinion the food itself was not particularly inspiring, not bad but not up to par for the price of the meal.

This was my first omakase and I chose this restaurant as its reviews read it was untraditional in the sense of the ability to interact with the chef. Chef Billy provided an insightful and funny service! The food and drinks were excellent!

I waited a while to drop a review so I don't get social media stalked like many small places do in response to less than stellar reviews. The mood was set oddly because in our group there was a regular who had on a T-shirt with a homophobic slogan. I didn't see a dress code, but I think it's common sense at a more social dining experience that is going to make other guest uncomfortable. It would have been nice if the staff would of asked them to put on a jacket or turn the shirt inside out. After the dinner service started the chef demeanor made it pretty obvious why that was permitted. His banter wasn't focused on the food as much as his competitive feelings about other establishments and misogynistic jokes. The food was pretty good, but it's hard to enjoy when the environment is so hostile. As I said I waited a few months and I remember the anxious environment over anything I ate. I love Houston and our amazing food scene, but maybe Conroe would be a better location for this particular vibe.

5Kinokawa is a great place to experience the Omakase concept, you really get a chance to experience fine ingredients with the backing of a chef that really brings out their flavors. The food not only looks fantastic, it also taste amazing. From amazing fatty tuna to A5 Wagyu steak, was a fantastic along with the multi course Omakase. Chef Billy and the staff are also amazing and made the vibe a better experience.
They are also BYOB! Which is an added bonus. We’ll definitely be back again.

We booked it without knowing what we were walking into. We were pleasantly surprised that it was kind of like “dinner and a show” in one go: Omakase + a comedy routine by Chef Billy and bartender Jun. Liked that it is set up similarly to a hidden speakeasy. Good experience, just be prepared for group entertainment vs. date night setting / private convos. 👍🏻
