“1/12/2025-This is a awesome vibe here. The ambiance is a nice bistro with some crazy art to keep you entertained but the music and lighting sets the mood. I would come back here again and again. I visited here without a reservation and was greeted when I first came in. The staff was nice friendly and attentive. Emma was awesome and recommended some dishes. The burger, half chicken, rice, and sesame butter cookie were awesome and the drinks. I had the voodoo drink. I highly recommended and you won't be disappointed.”

“I have visited Uchiko and its sister locations many times over the years. For the most part, the food and service have been excellent. Yesterday, we had a reservation at Uchiko to celebrate my sister’s birthday. I felt somewhat disappointed by the service because we seemed rushed; our plates and chopsticks were removed before our final dish arrived. We were asked to order dessert and given spoons while still waiting for our nigiri. Jack, the manager, checked on tables and was attentive, understanding, and very apologetic when he reached us. The server returned, apologized, and provided another round of two different nigiris on the house, while the manager offered free drinks and a gift card for my sister. Exceptional service like this encourages customers to return. I recognize how hectic a busy night can be, but the staff’s apology and quick recovery turned a negative experience into a positive one. I will not name the server because she made amends and I can understand the chaos on a Saturday night. I appreciate Jack for handling the situation well and caring for us. We will certainly return. Thank you again!”

“My husband and I decided to stop here for breakfast and what a great decision. The food was delicious but I was so impressed with our server Yonnie. Like WOW!!!!! It’s so hard to patronize businesses and received great customer service. Because of Yonnie we are looking forward to coming back next week with our of town family and I now have a place to meet clients knowing the service and food is top notch. The ambiance was refined and inviting, setting the stage for a memorable evening; though the lively atmosphere made it a bit noisy at times. We both opted for the 8 oz filet mignon paired with au gratin potatoes, and every bite was outstanding. The steak was exceptionally tender, bursting with rich, savory flavor, while the potatoes were decadently cheesy and the perfect complement. To finish, we shared a slice of key lime pie, which struck the ideal balance between tart and sweet. Our waitress was fantastic—warm, attentive, and instrumental in making the experience even more enjoyable. From start to finish, it was a top-tier dining experience!”

“We started at the Bar Happy Hour and has a Tommy's Margarita and roasted Oysters both of which were terrific. We then were seated for dinner and the staff greeted us with a sparkling wine starter because it was our anniversary. I had the blackened red snapper and my wife had the short rib ravioli both of which were 5 star! We were treated with an anniversary chocolate treat to end the dinner. All were fantastic.”

I cannot recommend this place enough! Such a warm and welcoming environment! Everything about this restaurant was great. The place was clean and smelled good. The staff and greeter were very nice. Our waiter Khatija was awesome, the staff also worked as a team in bringing and cleaning up our food. The food was fresh and awesome. Great atmosphere with really nice people. The floor manager took his time to welcome my family and made it his main priority to adjust everything to our liking. Especially nowadays with COVID-19, it’s hard to find a clean but comfortable restaurant environment I felt like my family was number 1. Also, it felt like I was over at family or friends. Mr. Ojinga saw what was happening and immediately walked out from behind the counter an ran him off. That was my second time there. Shauntae is also very nice. “Rarely do I find a place that exceeds 5 stars in every category, but this rare gem has become one of them. The food is immaculate. Fresh, beautifully presented, flavors building upon each other in each bite. The husband, Sky & wife, Wing (I hope I spelled that right) are so welcoming, funny, and only make this experience better. Sky is an extremely talented chef and has the added perk of being hilarious. Wing makes sure you are well taken care of and makes you feel like family. I couldn’t recommend this place enough. It is worth every dollar spent and every mile driven. This is an intimate experience with great beer and sake included! I’m already planning on coming back.”

“Flavors were very good and balanced. The umami and spice were perfect. The veggies were fresh and crunchy. The silken tofu was sooooo good. Crispy outside with enough salt. The shaked wagyu was cooked perfectly and the lime was such a good addition. The lemongrass tasted very fresh.

The ambiance was perfect. It's not too loud so you can actually hear your mealmates.

The prices are a bit high, but the build out is very pretty.

“Updated- I was able to try the “new” Andiron recently. The menu is a bit different. Gone are the expensive Wagyu meats and some new items have been added. Fortunately, the space kept its classic elegance and much of the same great staff remains. The martinis are still the best. I wouldn’t say the place is much less expensive but there are more options at a fair price for the quality and service. I had the market fish with a green pea hummus and curry sauce. The Caesar salad was delightfully unique with plenty of freshly grated Parmesan and a hint of citrus zest. This place is still one of my favorites in town. AND they still have their happy hour, a great way to give them a try.”

“I'm not sure anyone will be ready for the love I'm about to unload about Cambrian in this review.. so brace yourself and try to stay with me. If you can't make it through the full review definitely scroll down and at least read the part about the sandwich cookies! For your own benefit. ;) I try to wait and visit a place at least a few times before writing a review to be sure that the experience I had is consistent. I can now proclaim that I am like a Cambrian *regular* to put it lightly so what I'm going to include here is the ultimate truth. --The people here rock. ROCK! I know that when looking for a coffee shop its not always about the people but sometimes about the.. coffee? But, if you can get killer coffee served to you via ultra friendly humans.. it really takes it to the next level. My favorite coffee item for the summer is the Cambrian Iced Latte with Oatmilk (flavor is like honey and cinnamon). In winter I get the same thing but hot, or the vanilla syrup. They have way more hard core stuff and slow pours and all that but this is just me. --People go crazy for their sausage rolls. I can't really comment on these personally because I'm not really into meat but my husband, brother and basically everyone I've ever gotten one for (and apparently everyone on the internet) absolutely love them. --I CAN personally attest to the deliciousness of the samosas. So, so bomb. Flaky and well seasoned. The perfect savory baked good! --They have these cool little blue coins to "coffee forward". You buy them and give them to someone so they can come in for a free coffee item. People at the post office totally know about them now and I love to give them out around town! You can even buy them to have them apply to people who come in throughout the day! --There's other stuff like coffee roaster rotations, homemade vanilla syrup, delicious breakfast loaves, clean bathrooms and cool art. They also know how to properly serve tea! --THE SANDWICH COOKIES. I'm trying to keep this clean but I really wanted to say THE *FKN* SANDWICH COOKIES bc I need to emphasize how truly amazing and life altering these cookies are. I live in Houston, ok? I've been to lots of bakeries. Have I EVER had a cookie better than Gemma's sandwich cookies? No. No, I have not. They are a dream and I seriously salivate just thinking about them. I base my errands and outings around getting a sandwich cookie on the weeks that they are serving them. I mean, all of the cookies are phenom. The toffee? You'll hurt yourself they're so good. The peanut butter cup-oatmeal magic she does? Instant addiction. But these sandwich cookies.. like for real- words can't describe. They are art and that buttercream is second to none. I even have a favorite way to eat each of the flavors! I know this sounds extreme but I am telling you! So good!! They have the perfect amount of salt to keep these rich magical babies in balance and make them more adult than other sandwich cookies. Go have one! Try all the flavors! Also get me one. haha Taryn's sandwich-cookie eating process for full flavor effect: Lemon poppyseed needs to be eaten straight-up like a sandwich. The molasses/gingerbready guy needs to have his top taken off and eaten alone. THEN eat the bottom part with the frosting on top. DROOL The chocolate peanut butter needs to go into your mouth like a wheel so its like cookie on the right and left and frosting in the middle. For real! Take one regular sandwich bite and then rotate that thing to wheel into your mouth as you bite and its going to change your life. The butterscotchish one in the pictures? You can eat that one ANY.WAY. and each bite will still be perfect.”

“My husband and I stopped off for an early dinner after Sunday's terrible storm. Initially, we were hesitant because we had read some not so nice reviews about the place. But since it is very close to our house and they deliver, we decided to check it out for ourselves. The staff was very warm and gracious. It seems that they are a family owned business and they stopped at our table to greet us and they made us feel very welcome and special. Nice people! They have a vast variety of appetizers. We started out with tasty chicken dumplings, then had fried wings served with a variety of sauces. The wings were nice and crispy and slid right off the bone. The chicken wonton soup with lots of veggies was yummy. The wonton filling was well marinated and full of flavor...the wontons in Wonton Soup are typically bland. We ordered chicken with a medley of vegetables in garlic brown sauce. Very, well seasoned, aromatic and savory...husband's favorite, that he had with vegetable fried rice. My favorite dish was chicken Mei Fun, which I enjoyed with the chicken vegetable dish in brown sauce that he ordered. A plus for us, was that the food was not too salty or oily as it can sometimes be with Chinese dishes. We plan to eat there often, since they have a vast array of dishes we are eager to try.”

The chef is Jamaican, and you can definitely taste the authenticity and care that goes into the food. The oxtail plate is one of my favorites; the oxtails are flavorful, tender, and so good! But that oxtail cheesesteak is something special and definitely a must-try. The jerk chicken is delicious too and packed with flavor. Great food, great atmosphere, and authentic Jamaican flavors. When I ran for public office in 2019, Heavenly Choices prepared meals for my campaign workers, and they loved it. Recently, I bought a sheet cake of Darilyn's German Butter Cake for a tour group from Rice University, and they loved it! My latest Sunday-after-church plate from Heavenly Choices included swai fish, okra, and blackeyed peas with a side of cornbread. I also bought a side of spaghetti and a warm slice of German Butter cake for my meal the following day. Suffice it to say, everything was delicious, even on the second day. If soul food served with love is what you are looking for, Heavenly Choices is the perfect place to go!”

This Educated African American will happily spend her black dollars where it is appreciated .You all need to take notes on welcoming everyone to your place of business regardless of color .”
