The Heights Catering was super helpful and communicative since I booked them a few months ago, and the food attendants and bartender were amazing. The whole concept is just perfect! Easy online ordering and the Food is fabulous. They come and set everything up (in a decorative, awesome manner), including disposable chafing dishes, cutlery, napkins, plates and even cute labels for all the food. “I actually own an event related business, and despite partnering with them hundreds of times, I had never actually hired them for an event. Typically, we just aren’t the ones making the ultimate decision on the vendors being used, but in this case we were.

For context, the goal of the event was a 100 person, three course, candlelight dinner, which also included one of Houston’s best string Quartets, playing everything from Mozart to Taylor Swift. The event as a whole was a marketing event for a large medical organization that wanted to do something different that many of their clients, mainly doctors, had not seen before.

Once we understood the feel that the client was going for, we knew that Afe would be an excellent choice for this event. However, as an event person and a business owner, I must say what is most impressive about working alongside the Afe team is the quality of detail in their proposals. Essentially, every item that they are providing, you can see visually before you make the purchase. What are the chairs going to look like, which linens are we going to use, how will the candles on the table be arranged, all of these questions are clearly outlined in their proposals and easy to update and adjust. For this event, we dealt with Carolyn, but we were also in constant communication with Lauren. I found that to be another unique approach; where every email chain had two Afe team members, allowing for twice the sets of eyes and needless to say, incredibly fast responses.

Then, on the day of everything was perfect. Carolyn was traveling, but we did have Lauren there; who was intimately aware of all the details. In fact, she played a huge part in keeping me organized. But then, we also had an on-site manager and multiple other management level team members… All clearly on the same page and helping to ensure everything ran smoothly.

Needless to say, dinner went perfectly. We had a grilled artichoke salad, a dual entree of lamb and sea bass, and a fresh seasonal blueberry dessert to match our Houston heat in summer. However, in some ways, what was most impressive, happened at the end of the night. Immediately, after the catering team concluded their portion, in came the team that works late into the evening. These are the guys and gals that remove all of the tables, all of the chairs, and everything that was needed for that specific event. Despite it being nearly 10:30 PM at the first time I saw them, all of them came in perfectly uniformed, in great moods, worked incredibly efficiently and truly put the perfect icing on the cake of a great event.

It started with a great sales process, and it ended with a great team of folks who primarily work in warehouse operations…but had every bit the attention to detail, the attention to customer service, and the quality representation of the AFE team as every other person we dealt with throughout the experience. I will say, as a business owner, you can immediately recognize when the culture of a company lives in each person, and I will say the most glaring takeaway from our wonderful event this past week was that the culture of excellence, and appreciation for the clients who allowed them to be working that event, truly lives in each team member that they send.
