“A good friend told us about this little gem of a restaurant; he often bought the banh mi to go for us at work and said they’re a great family-owned business.

Had time today to stop by and met Daniel, who immediately knew who we were when we said our friend would buy us their sandwiches. Daniel was super warm and inviting to my wife and I and we knew he valued our patronage and we knew we feel good about spending our hard-earned money with him.

He went over their selection and we decided to go for their wonderful deal of buy 5 sandwich and get the 6th one free along with drinks and some delicious Vietnamese yogurt. We got the thit nuong (BBQ) and the combo, and both were spectacular. I mean it, they were SPECTACULAR; the bread was toasty, yet soft and warm, the meats tasted perfectly seasoned & prepared and the veggies and pickled carrots were next-level fresh and many times, it’s the veggies that will make or break any banh mi. I’ve grown up eating many banh mi from many different restaurants all around SW Houston and Chinatown, and by far and hands down, Nguyen Ngoc’s is the best of the best.

We had stopped at a different location but left because the employee was not pleasant as we walked in she was already in a bad mood, so we decided to drive a little further and it was so worth it!“

“Visited here recently and had a mixed experience. One thing to note is that this location doesn’t seem to participate in the same deals as other locations I’ve been to.

We ordered a vegetarian wrap for my wife (just spinach and eggs, no meat) and a meat wrap for myself, but her order was unfortunately made incorrectly with bacon.

That said, I appreciate how they handled it afterward. I called them, and they refunded the order and even said they would offer a complimentary meal, which shows good customer service.

Because of that, I’m willing to give them another shot.“

“We love Ike’s and their incredible sandwiches (always get your order with the Dutch bread!!), but we typically don’t eat in except on the rare occasion like today - we came in for lunch, and after ordering we waited for awhile for our sandwiches before the staff realized there had been a mistake on the board for placing our order. They turned around our sandwiches quickly after that, and the manager came over to let us know that they he had comped our whole lunch. This is the type of service and genuine kindness that’s hard to come by at restaurants these days, and we’re very grateful for his generosity.“

“The atmosphere when you enter is great. Laid-back, a hand full of tv’s for different options to view while you eat. Music isn’t crazy loud but enough to add some good energy into the space. The staff isn’t very engaging but is polite and efficient. The food is good, my favorite was the Tattooed Chicken Club, the persto grill chilled cheese combo was great. The Moster Melt had good flavor for those willing to get their hands a little messy. The Hot Mess Fries is a accurate description of the item, a little bit of a hot mess, good flavor but the gravy is a little to much on the fries, however the cheese curds are the redeeming quality, fresh chunks on the top, gooey chunks in the middle, great flavor mixture and I’m not a brown gravy fan.“
