I bought 3 orders Fifth Ward Specials $36.60 & 1 Red Bean w/Rice + 1 Macaroni w/Cheese $6.69 which was not good at all. Tasted old & we don't live very close by but my church is near by & does a lot of business with Frenchy's but for me & mine we will not do business with Frenchy's. This was at your East Fwy. Store“

“Amazing! Absolutely one of the top dining experiences in town. I ordered the special, braised beef tenderloin, I believe (pictured above) it literally fell apart and melted in my mouth! My date had lasagna and insisted I have a bite it was so good. It was! I also had gumbo, THAT WAS NOT "RESTAURANT" GUMBO! He clearly took the time (most restaurants won't (or can't afford) to give it the love it needs, all of the seafood ingredients were absolutely on point! Enjoyed it thoroughly! We also had salad, wine and dessert. Our bill was WAY less than expected! We enjoyed everything and had a fabulous experience. Thank you!“

“We love Little Rey! Their tacos, salads, queso and ice cream are top notch! All good fresh ingredients that make you feel good. Food comes out fast and the staff is always very friendly and helpful! We are regulars with our granddaughter and the staff, especially Juan, always makes sure we are taken care of. Love the atmosphere under the big trees, too!“

“My wife and I decided to revisit this place again since the first time it opened many years ago. We ordered the six piece chicken combo deal meal. The fried chicken was super good. Crispy on the outside and soft juicy on the inside. The fries were crispy and soft on the inside very good. The chicken comes with a side of gravy. We also got the buttered mashed potatoes with gravy. Very good. We ordered the pineapple juice which is excellent overall I’d say five stars and will comeback again.“

“One of the best spicy chicken sandwiches. They’re a lot like canes in which they only have a couple of options (all non spicy to spicy chicken) and you have to choose from one of those options. I expected it to be way more spicy than I thought, but it wasn’t, I got hot but it wasn’t hot at all so I recommend getting a hotter one if your spice tolerance is high (like the highest one)“

“I got one of their specials with two different kababs (Jujeh and Koobideh) with their salad (instead of rice). The meat was terrific and that's worth five stars. But the salad was very disappointing: most of was shredded iceberg (cheap & tasteless) lettuce with a couple of small slices of tomato and a couple of even smaller slices of carrots. That was it. I've had much better salads at other Persian restaurants, or really any other restaurant for that matter. So, I'll take off one star because the side item was so disappointing.“

“Had no clue Rooster and Rice & OhMyGogi! Joined forces.

The guy at the front counter was awesome, person-able, knowledgeable on the menu, and helped us out greatly. From start to finish!

I first had OhMyGogi! When they were just a taco truck driving around town and at local events like for HUG Tx2k. We absolution enjoyed everything we tried.

The Korean BBQ Street Tacos were just full of flavor as a must try item!
The sliders were our other favorite along with the quesadilla.

And Rooster & Rice is just as delicious, highly suggest for first timer to try the “cutlet” the crust and crunchiness is the way to go. Chicken was juicy, tender, and full of flavor for something so simple.

The only bad item worth noting is that seating inside is rather limited. (See pic) it’s VERY small, 4-5 seats at a bar counter top. So if you plan to sit down, you’ll have to sit outside to enjoy your hot meal.

But don’t let that stop you. We enjoyed it so much, we already went back for more today w the family. (Have to update the review with more pictures and videos of our food selections)

Definitely worth a stop and try out if your in the area.

The food is fried and seasoned perfectly. Go-to food items are fried chicken, fish, shrimp, hush puppies and dirty rice. I am so surprised that more people don't know about this place. “Houston TX Hot Chicken ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Houston TX Hot Chicken is a fast-casual restaurant that claims to offer “the freshest, healthiest and hottest Texas Hot Chicken sandwiches in the world.” Founded in 2020 by Houston Crosta and Edmond Barseghian, the original location is in Las Vegas, Nevada. Co-founder Barseghian states, “Our brand is Texas hot chicken – the sauce is sweeter and more savory than Nashville.” Despite the branding, this business has no connection to Texas; it is named after co-founder, Houston Crosta. KM and I visited Houston TX Hot Chicken in Meridian on 10/4/23, as part of a Yelp Elite event. We both got a complimentary Original Hot Chicken sandwich meal combo, plus a chicken tender and beverage of choice. The restaurant has high ceilings with exposed duct work, which gives it an industrial vibe. There are cool counter tops lit from beneath, which change color. There is a good amount of what appears to be light wood paneling along the walls, with some large, bold red images on part of a wall and the bathroom doors. The décor has a modern, youthful vibe. The combination of the most comfortable seating I’ve encountered in a fast/casual restaurant of it’s kind, indoor AND outdoor/patio dining, and great music played at a reasonable volume, gives the sense Houston TX Hot Chicken is trying to appear to a broader customer base than some of the other hot chicken joints I’ve visited locally, which is much appreciated. The service from start to end was EXCELLENT! The employees seemed genuinely happy to see us, and very sincere in their offer to answer questions etc. We also got to meet the GM Jason, who was very personable and a wealth of information. KM ordered the Strawberry Hibiscus House Lemonade, which you can upgrade to a Slushy for $1. I tried a taste. We both thought it was pretty good. I got Diet Pepsi. It had good carbonation. The Spice Levels from mildest to hottest are: No Spice, Honey Butter, Mild, Medium, Spicy, Liftoff, and Houston We Have a Problem. Ordering the latter requires you to sign a waiver. KM ordered a Mild Original Hot Chicken sandwich, and a Honey Butter chicken tender. I ordered a Medium Original Hot Chicken sandwich, and a Spicy chicken tender. There are 8 sauces to choose from, 4 of which are made in house daily. We got one of each of the ones made in house daily: House, Cheese, Cilantro, and Caesar. KM and I both LOVED our Original Hot Chicken sandwiches! KM doesn’t like spicy food as much as I do. She enjoyed both Mild and Honey Butter, though she didn’t feel she could really taste the Honey Butter flavoring in her tender. I loved both the Medium and Spicy, but next time I would get a Spicy sandwich and maybe try a Liftoff tender. The Halal chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I don’t normally care for sweet sauces such as the House, but it paired perfectly with the Spicy flavor of my sandwich. The cole slaw was good. I really liked the Brioche bun; KM would have preferred an old-school Sesame Seed Hamburger Bun. The pickles were good. Each order included a container of House sauce. Houston TX Hot Chicken serves high quality Lamb Weston Concertina cut French fries. Concertina cut is “a modern take on classic crinkle cuts with deeper, crispier grooves and ridges. Crispy grooves have more edges that provide satisfying extra crunch. Thick cuts are sturdier and are less prone to breaking than thinner fries.” In my opinion, Lamb Weston French fries are the best premade fries you can buy, but they are hard to find. I appreciate that Houston TX Hot Chicken’s attention to detail regarding the use of high quality ingredients includes the type of chicken they use, as well as the quality of French fries they serve. The only thing I didn’t like about the fries is I think they are lightly seasoned with Honey Butter flavored spice. I like sweet flavors as part of a dessert, but I don’t care for them in an entrée. KM didn’t feel the fries were sweet. The average person may not. I’m just extra sensitive to sweet flavors in entrees. Next time, I would ask for the seasoning“

“Heard about this place on Instagram and decided to come here for dinner since I was in the area. Got their chicken sandwich, Balle Balle fries, and mango lassi. The sandwich was perfect: juicy on the inside, and tender on the outside. The fries were seasoned with just the right amount of spices, and the lassi was sweet, creamy, and delicious!“

They don't have many vegetarian items; however, I ordered fried plantains and rice with beans. I had the small portions. I found the beans salty, and that's why I took a star off.
