“I've been there several times just for takeout, and I liked it. Of course I don't know what the entire menu will be like, but what I ordered was pupusas, fish, nuegados, fish cake soup. And chicken soup (my husband didn't like this soup very much) and others. So I recommend it.“
“Called to place in an order and the lady that picked up was extremely nice and welcoming unlike other places where they pick up the phone in a bad attitude. This is my first time giving them a try after seeing good reviews. I was not upset. Food was very delicious. I’m happy I found my new pupuseria place!“
“Food is delicious, I really wish they would put more food on the breakfast tacos. The meat they do ok on. But the beans rice and other extras they put very very little. It's like the edge of the spoon is the only place food can go on. 3 dollar for a taco! If I wanted a mini taco I'll go to a taco truck. Then I don't understand why it's different prices with everyone attending you. This place has good customer service and food. Just wish they wouldn't be so economic when serving especially the older ladies and also change the prices so often. It should be consistent“
“The prices are great, and the lady is so nice. I got to practice my Spanish at this packed eatery. The large pupusas come with Cole slaw and were prepared to order and taste great, and so much to eat! This clean restaurant is family friendly, all ages were here. They have a tv playing Latin pop videos at a good volume.I would come back! Enjoy!“
“I really liked it because it is a very clean place, the employees are very friendly and the food is really delicious. The super pupusa is a huge thing, like a personal pizza, and the cheese is the closest thing to the Salvadoran cheese that is a flavor so difficult to find in Houston pupuserias.“
“How does this place not have more reviews! This little food truck located in a corner gas station not only is authentic but family owned. Pupusas are as real as they get. Freshly made in front of you and to order. The pickled cabbage (curtido) topped with the flavored tomato salsa hit the spot. Service is great, owner is present so you feel that welcome! Drive up and park, order and wait between 5-10 minutes depending on your order. Our food was amazing.“
“Food was authentic ? ordered Pupusas and a breakfast loved it!! Highly suggested !! I Couldn’t take a pic of the food because it was very delicious ?!! Next time around I will take pics and post I promise!!Just like promised please see below food was great!!“
“Crawfish!!! Crawfish!! Crawfish!!! Wow, the seasoning for the boiled crawfish here is amazing!!! a lot of places have their own “secret” seasonings — some work, some don’t. Gran Sabor Latino has a seasoning with butter garlic and other spices that really gets it done. Just amazing. And the owner and staff are so nice. They go above and beyond on service. Will definitely return to try other items from the menu.“
“The only bad thing about Gloria's is that they save all the tables by the dance floor for people who buy a liquor bottle. It was very expensive, so no one bought the liquor bottle, and the tables are all empty all night long while the customers stand up ALL NIGHT!! NOT GOOD.“
“Yummy! This place is fast n very delicious pupusas. By the way the only have breakfast and pupusas and some antojitos. Don’t expect a full Salvadorian Menu. Pupusas are very very good I highly recommend it. I try the chicharon con queso need to come back and try other ones.“
“Best tasting grilled chicken in Houston made by the most wonderful people! Grilling chicken isn't easy but they make it perfect and fresh here where it's tangy and seasoned nicely, seared on the outside, and juicy inside. The owners have been a part of the community for a long time and I'm happy to support them every chance I get at their new (to me) location.“
“Probably one of the few Salvadorian restaurants I really enjoy going to. I’ve had a little bit of everything already from their menus. Food is always fresh, only downside it does take a little longer to receive. My favorite dish from here is their Salpicon. Minced meat with mint, radish and seasonings. It’s has a hing of ting to it. They have agua frescas, my go to has always been Jamaica not overall sweet - just right. Wednesday’s they have $1 pupusas, they are on the smaller size than your average. Food is there now my only complaint is their waitress. I’ve met their owner and she is super sweet. The waitress just seems bothered each time I walk in there. No smile, not welcoming whatsoever. As if she doesn’t enjoy her job, unfortunately this has occurred multiple times. Overall, good quality is there. Clean establishment, dim lights and soft music.“
“Stuck in a little old gas station down the street from the hospital is this amazing authentic Salvadoran restaurant with yummy papusas, tamales, tacos, burritos, and traditional food items from El Salvador as well as a little grocery store with items from El Salvador. Nice inside seating and friendly customer service.“
“Large proportions, DELICIOUS, seasoned food. Affordable prices. Good service. There's plenty of seating and is suitable for large groups to dine in. They also offer takeout. Parking is limited and fill up quickly. Also support a small business and bring cash ;)FOOD:Papusa Revuelta (4.5/5): The chicharrón was shredded small and evenly applied throughout. The ratio was about 1:1 chicharrón to cheese. The flavor, ahhhh the flavor was soooo good. Personally, I would have preferred my papusa to be toasted and filled more. As another reviewer mentioned, the papusas don't taste as good when it sits, so eat then while they're hot. I can't comment on the curtido bc I don't like curtido. Almost all the papusas were $2.50 each. Sopa de Mariscos con Crema (5/5): This soup has bluecrab, fish, imitation crab, shrimp, mussels and vegetables. We got it with cream & the crushed red pepper on the side. I was expecting small chunks of fish and a crab claw. Nah, y'all getting a whole experience! There was a whole filet of fish, lots of shrimp, and half of a bluecrab. This soup was so good and filling! Filete Pescado con Camarones (5/5): The breading on the shrimp and fish was well seasoned. The shoe string fries were fresh and crunchy. I've never had Salvadoran rice but I prefer it over the regular Spanish - it's lighter and fluffy.“
“Popusas were traditional and very good. The pizza birria is a new plate for me and it was very delicious, definitely coming back, we recommend everyone to come to this place. The popusas were very delicious, the birria pizza was the first time we tried them and they are delicious, I will definitely return and recommend this place.“
“I can't believe I found a Salva-Mex infused food place. My favorite is the Fajita Popusa and Al pastor Popusa. The Salvadoran tamales are some of the best I've ever had around Houston. Call 15 min prior to arrival so you don't wait too long.“
“It was our first time coming to this place, absolutely love it, the food is amazing, the service is awesome, the owner is very friendly, and the waitress is very nice and friendly!Absolutely recommend it, its going to be our new favorite restaurant.“
“This place is Awesome! The staff is super nice and really friendly. The ambiance is very welcoming. You can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Food is pretty good especially the Popusas makes you want to eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner and for their prices it’s 100% worth it. You have to go check it out!!!“
“This was a new experience as very seldom stop at what I hear called taco trucks but it showed up as one of the near restaurants and so we decided to try it. There was lots of pictures of the meals and we both picked one. Some of the extras came in little baggies tied in a knot which wasn't as easy to use but worked out. The meals were very good. Don't really know prices as there was no prices anywhere but the whole dinner for two, beef quesadilla and one chicken quesadilla and drinks cost $22“
“Love this Place !!! Food is homemade from scratch fresh made when order it was delicious,. I order tampiquena which was way bigger than expected had to bring home. Service is great very very satisfied. BTW best popusas I have ever had. 10 ⭐️“
“My Carne Guisada plate was great, the flavor was excellent. I ordered a side of plátanos maduros which came with cheese, cooked to perfection. The servers were attentive and the establishment was clean, simple but clean. I gave it 3 stars for atmosphere due to when you walk in there is a smoking odor stuck in the air somehow but it didn’t bother me much. Will come back again if in the area.“
“Si eres Salvadoreño de corazon y te gusta la buena comida casera y con buen sabor este es el lugar indicado, asi que vente a probar toda su gastronomía que ofrecen y disfruta el momento.Parking: Free parkingWheelchair accessibility: They have a wheelchair ramp in front of the restaurant“
“La Joya Salvadorena Found this gem up the road from the house. First time trying El Salvadoran food and it did not miss. This place was known for its Papusas - pork cheese and beans, even made it nice for upcoming Valentine's Day with a heart shape. This is a must try! Support local. We will definitely be back on the regular. Service was elite and friendly they we're constantly asking if we were okay and needed anything! Ambiance was quiet it was people in and out since it's a food truck but it was very laid back and chill.“
“I don’t know if this is authentic Salvadoran food as some say the food is not authentic but the taste is amazing. My son and I wanted to try something different so we came here and the food was fantastic. A lot of flavor! We are from Pakistan so maybe we didn’t have authentic food or maybe we did but what we did have was something that tasted delicious!“
“I know what you're thinking. It's odd to take a photo of an empty plate. But I promise this will all make sense. We have ordered from this place over and over again over the last year. They are phenomenal!!!! We've tried just about everything on their menu and not one dish disappoints. Let me explain this further. Have you ever eaten something that makes you want to cry because it's so perfect? This is exactly the feeling you'll experience when eating here! Happy eating!!“
“This was my first time in a local salvadorian restaurant and it was a nice experience. When I walked in, I first acknowledged the authentic design of the restaurant. It was like they kept tradition I thay place and didn't change any style to make it look Western. I only wanted vege puppusas, and they had exactly what I wanted. It was good priced, and there's a sign saying they had a special for $1 pupusas on a certain day, and I'll be sure to return when I have time. The service was great as well. There was only one lady at the front, and I only spoke a little bit of Spanish, but she understood and was very patient while I glanced at the menu.As I stated before, the atmosphere is what makes me want to return. I love the beige painting of the walls and the posters, and when you walk into the restaurant, you know it'll be a good experience. The only problem I had was parking. Because it's a small restaurant, I have no idea where and how to park there, so we just parked on the right side of the fence.Vegetarian options: Tell them, "No como carne," and they'll hook you up with vegetarian options.“
“It is a good restaurant, we visit it frequently, I don't know why it has a low score, perhaps the past administration was not good, but today it is a restaurant that is worth visiting, I recommend it 100%, the waitresses are very friendly, the food is very good and they serve it quickly.“
“This place was a hidden gem! The pupusas are immaculate. My husband and I were looking for a place to eat out to the other night and stumbled across this truck. The service was quick, we received our food after 15 minutes of calling to order. They only accept Cash or payments through Zelle so be sure to keep that in mind. Their horchata was good too, hands down 10/10!“
“I really like this plactakeoye off Freeport St. I have been going to this lady and her taco stand for a long time and she is not expensive like most places in Channelview also its full corn or flour tortilla and she doesn't charge extra for cheese . Momma is what I call her she is a great Spanish cook.. I was able to get 6 tacos meat and cheese for under $ 15. Feed 4 people .She is on the right hand side before Bonham St .“
“The pupauseria is so good soft and fluffy. The atmosphere is vibrant as well some of the women are very helpful and friendly, but again not to put it out there I wait 45 minutes for just pupusas and two tacos and 3 people had already gotten done ordering and finished and left. I don't get why but that's the only reason for the 4 stars“
““I was so impressed with tonights pick! I tried the chicken pupusas and i was amazed. The quality of the food and the short amount of time it took for our order to be complete. Our waitress was sweet and helpful I will definitely be back!” To try the different plates in the menu.Kid-friendliness: Nice restaurant kid-familly friendly“
“Really surprised the lamb mixiotes are the same flavor where I am from (puebla) the avocado tree leaf gives it an incomparable flavor, the lamb barbecue is really just as goodIt's a pity that the Veracruz tamales ran out today but I will definitely be back to try themI came here for your new advertising and since it almost never happens, I have had a very good experience. The waitress was very friendly and very fast at all times, I always try not to miss anything, she is really good at what she doesI will definitely recommend this place to all my friends in Puebla who have been looking for a place with this flavor in mixiotes and barbacoa de borrego“
“These are the best pupusas in Houston. My family love them and order them frequently. They are delicious especially the ones with cheese and chicken. They don't have as much flour as others and are filled with so much flavor. They always sell them freshly made and there is a guarantee that you will enjoy their pupusas. Thanks!“
“It is incredible the love they put into their meals to please us, especially those of us who come from far away (Dallas, TX). We went to the restaurant so often during our work and personally I had not felt the Salvadoran flavor that was very much ours for a long time. Every time you sit down in a new restaurant to “experience” whether the taste will be good or not, it is an unknown that until they serve you you realize, well here I can say that it is GREAT, the gratitude and services of Rubí, Karla and a lot Venezuelans are great, the owner doesn't even mention it (I don't remember her name) but they are cool.Thank you for making El Salvador feel so close??There are medicines and cravings that if you ask the waitress about something so remote (that maybe they won't have it) They have it ?These were some of the many foods we tried ??“
“Delicious food ! One of the best sopa de mondongo I've had! Everything fresh. You wait a little long but it's worth the wait. Horchata is also on point. Comida deliciosa! De las mejores sopas de mondongo que he probado ! Todo fresco, recién hecho. La espera es un poco larga pero vale la pena. La horchata está buenísima.“
“I think the music was a little too loud for it being early in the day maybe in the evening it would be better for them to have it that loud. The coffee was a little burnt I usually drink two or three cups I didn't even finish one cup it just didn't taste good. But overall the service and the food was great“
“We're obsessed with this restaurant! It's a little "hole in the wall" spot but the Pupusas are SO good! Our favorite were the spinach and cheese and calabaza and cheese. The filling was oozing and the flavor was (as the kids say) giving We asked for extra cabbage and salsa for our to go order and they delivered. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. The ladies working there are also so sweet. If you are craving Pupusas this is the place to go.“
“This is the restaurant of a hotel (you don't have to go through the hotel to get there and don't have to be a guest). The food was great - though if you order one of the soups, you shouldn't order anything else to eat (I made that mistake and was quite full afterward). The atmosphere was nice. Copán Ruinas' stadium is across the street.“
“Ohhh my Gosh! ?Let me tell you…Amazing Pupusas so much Cheese, ?very Flavorful ?I order extra Curtido and without hesitation they gave me more than enough. I was skeptical about the flavor. Usually I get a good pupusa but bad salsa or curtido. Here……EVERYTHING is Great? I am a Truck Driver and believe you me…I have had my share of places and flavors ?My Standards are High ? and Maggie’s Sabor Salvadoreño definitely is above it! ?Sooo good thank You so much ?? I don’t like the Truck Stop?but will definitely be stopping by again! Thank You Maggie’s ?“
