“Decided to give this place a shot after watching a TikTok review on it. We've grown tired of the noise at Pappadeaux's and for the price the wife and I thought it's time to start looking around for something else. My wife and I aren't big eaters, so we usually like to sit at the bar and just chill. Anyway, being that this was our first time here we decided to go for Happy hour and just check the place out. The redfish dip and roasted oysters were on point, but the recommended dish of snapper collars was not worth it at $35. The dish was straight up "collars" with no side dish. If we lived close by we'd definitely be back but who knows. We did like that the place was chill and not loud. Our bill, although not outrageous, was a bit pricey for being Happy Hour ($115 before tip.) There weren't that many food options offered as part of Happy Hour that we were interested in so our food choices were reflected in the bill. I don't know if our experience should really be considered Happy Hour price specific. Give it a try though.“

“This is the perfect place to celebrate something. We were welcomed at the door by a friendly person, so charming. Oysters (raw) were fresh and the sauces were fresh and light. Paella was gorgeous. We ate all of it with gusto. Dessert (chocolate something with scotch ice cream) was rich and delicious and satisfying.
Staff are top professionals. Expert, with a light touch. A truly special experience and Andrew is absolutely tops for organizing the extras that made our evening so wonderful. This restaurant employs good people who went out of their way to ensure our evening was a super special experience. I very much expect they will do the same for you.
Parking: Valet parking is free except for the tip. Or you can prowl Rice Village for a parking spot and pay double.“

“We had an amazing experience at Balboa! Starting with the complimentary valet, which was quick and friendly service. The entry to the restaurant was super nice and a great photo opportunity spot. Kyrah took excellent care of us during our visit, and we loved the team style service. It felt like we had a team serving us, and they are so quick and quiet that you can continue to hold conversations and visit but someone is always near if you need anything. Kyrah took special care to "refresh" our cocktail glasses when we finished about half of our drinks, and made excellent recommendations. The food was absolutely amazing. Our table tried the fried shrimp, oysters, spicy ahi tuna roll, crab cake, Post Oak ribeye with pureed potatoes, salmon with the most delicious and unique salad, and heirloom tomatoes. The cocktails were delicious, including the Gold Rush, Rum Dum, and el Guero. The restaurant vibe is romantic but fun and sophisticated and has an open kitchen concept where you can see the food being made if you care to watch. I will most definitely be back and can confidently recommend this place to anyone!“

“Rian's Seafood was great. Food had flavor, you actually get a ton of food for your buck, and you must try the Hennessey Lemon Drop. The service was spectacular, and the atmosphere was on point. Good service, great food and great location.“

“What can I say about this place? Man, absolutely fire. I ordered the double tat sandwich, with the strawberry cheesecake, and the burger (which I couldn’t grab a picture of) but I can’t even explain to you, from top to bottom the sandwich and the sauce is BANGING, then the burger was perfectly made (personally a medium/rare guy) which he made perfectly. The homemade strawberry cheesecake bruh, that’s what’s sold the deal. Can’t even lie to you, can’t wait until y’all expand into a store front, I’d be there everyday.“

“Dined here several times one of my favorite places I've never gone in this early to eat. I typically sit in the bar. It was literally painful as hell as the sun is going down, and it seems as though no one really cared at the restaurant from the staff all the way up to management. Service was absolutely delivered as it typically does except for the problem that I've never had to deal with at this restaurant so therefore I will bring sunglasses or a welding helmet next time between 4 and 7 PM.“

Dietary restrictions: She explain to me that the cabbage bowl could be vegan or non vegan. Great options

“It was my first visit and definitely won't be my last! The ambiance truly transported me to New Orleans. The offerings during the Houston Restaurant Month were copious. Of the samplings which I tried, all were absolutely delish! Our host, Travis, was amazing, attentive, and witty. Every person we encountered were smiling and courteous and somehow it made the already exquisite food even better. I loved it! My culinary and overall experience is one I hope to repeat. Brennan's is uniquely top tier and a slice of New Orlean's heaven right here in Houston. My compliments to the kitchen and staff. Thank you for a much needed lovely brunch.“

“Tucked away off the beaten path in Houston, Quan Ba Ky is a no-frills Vietnamese restaurant that delivers traditional flavors at an unbeatable value. It’s the kind of place that feels like a homey, Mom-and-Pop operation—complete with worn tables, Vietnamese TV shows playing in the background, and a karaoke machine tucked away in the back. There's something undeniably charming about the unpretentious atmosphere, and honestly, what's not to like? It feels authentic, welcoming, and, most importantly, focused on the food.
We visited on an early Saturday evening, and initially, the place was quiet. But as we neared 6-7 PM, the dining room began to fill with a steady stream of Vietnamese patrons, always a good sign that the place is beloved by those who know best.
We started with a round of Viet Cajun-style crawfish—a seasonal treat when fresh, but since it was off-season, the crawfish were frozen. Still, they were flavorful, and you could tell they’d be even better if we’d hit them at peak season. The seasoning was on point, with just the right amount of spice and buttery richness, though the crawfish themselves weren’t as tender as they might have been if fresh. No complaints, though—it's clear the place does its best to provide a taste of a regional specialty even when it’s not in full swing.
The real standout, however, was the Bún Sườn soup. This dish has been getting attention on social media, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The broth was rich and flavorful, the perfect balance of savory and umami, and it came packed with an assortment of seafood, noodles, and herbs that made every bite exciting. Whether you’re a fan of seafood or just enjoy a hearty bowl of noodle soup, this dish is a must-try. It’s the kind of comforting, satisfying food that makes you want to come back for more.
We also decided to try one of their limeade drinks, which was refreshing and tart, making it the ideal pairing with the spicy, seafood-heavy soup. The cool drink provided a nice contrast to the warmth of the broth and helped cleanse the palate between bites.
The service was also top-notch. The owner, who served us, was kind and attentive throughout the meal, offering helpful recommendations and ensuring we were well taken care of. There’s something genuinely warm about the experience, which adds to the overall appeal of the place.
And the best part? The total bill for two people came to just around $30—an incredible value for the quality and quantity of food we received. In a city full of trendy spots, Quan Ba Ky’s combination of great food, generous portions, and affordable prices is a real standout.
If you’re looking for traditional Vietnamese food with a homey feel and a focus on quality, look no further than Quan Ba Ky. It's not flashy or trendy, but it’s authentic, delicious, and an excellent value. Highly recommended!
Vegetarian options: Several options
Parking: Lots of free parking right in front of the restaurant
Kid-friendliness: Not very kid friendly if they are picky or not into Viet food
Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs and plenty of room to navigate a wheelchair“

“My friend came to the restaurant during Houston Restaurant Weeks and highly recommended the food. I tried it out tonight and just got the fried rice. This is probably the best fried rice I’ve had. It’s seasoned very well and doesn’t need soy sauce. I will be back to try the rest of the menu.“

“My cousin suggested this place. So I went.I ordered the Seafood Gumbo. For the price, it is more than fair. They are made to order, so please be patient. The only way to serve any kind of seafood is fresh. Each bite was savory and had some seafood protein in it. I highly recommend it.This place has so many options but Crazy Cajun is my first choice for something that warms up my soul.“

“Rarely can I say that everything about a restaurant is a hit, but that's the case for Milton's. An old school Italian concept meets an upscale vibe and elevated dining. The decor reflects all of that, and the server (Ryan) is impeccable...from beginning to end.
A complimentary bread box arrived with some scrumptious dinner rolls and olive oil for dipping. We started with a parsley salad, which burst with a full spectrum of flavors. Our server then bought us pickled onion rings with creme fraiche (and caviar), which was delicious. My friend ordered the lobster ravioli with a shellfish broth, and I opted for the bucatini. We enjoyed the dishes thoroughly, and we finished it off with a scoop of blood orange sorbet.
A well executed meal and highly recommended.“

“A Houston original and one of the best texmex restaurants around. They are known for their fajitas; they're well seasoned and cooked perfectly. I have always been impressed with their service, after maybe 40 visits over the years and several locations, I have never had anything but great service even when they're extremely busy. That alone is a big reason why I choose them. It's a quality place, if you haven't been you're missing out.“

“We went there with my in-laws before symphony and enjoyed it. It was bit cold in there and music was loud, but we had a nice table and service was good. We were in lobster mood, so we ordered eggs benedict with lobster and lobster roll and shared it. There was a good amount of lobster in both dishes. Drinks were delicious.“

“J Alexander's, previously known as Merus Grill, has been my go-to destination for a satisfying dining experience for myself and my clients. Their menu boasts a range of delicious and generously-portioned options. On our most recent visit we enjoyed the grouper and ahi tuna salad for lunch, but I highly recommend the prime rib with Mac and cheese as a side for those looking for a truly remarkable meal. The service at J Alexander's is consistently top-notch, with April's exceptional service being the highlight during our visit. We will certainly be returning for dinner soon!“

“This place has become one of my regular spots. Service is always on point. Food is excellent , though once we did encounter a mediocre version of a regular dish, but that was taken care of very quickly and with apologies... Most of dishes are impressive, some are ok, but everything is prepared as it should, so it usually comes down to the taste of the patron. Redfish is probably one of the best I ever had. Center is moist and skin is unbelievably crisp, it challenges laws of nature as these 2 extremes should not exist in such proximity. Cocktails are excellent and well prepared, for my personal taste- they serve best Vesper Martini in H-town. Eggplant and asparagus dishes are must have.“
