We enjoyed the stops along the way, and got a lot out of also making friends with the other group mates. We had a great night out, so thank you for making our anniversary fun.“

“We come here everyday for a couple of drinks. The waitstaff is superb! I eaten several things here. It’s a fusion of American and Indian food, along with Canadian and traditional American fare. All very good. If you’ve never had traditional Poutine, try it here with the tater tots, which are the best in Houston! They serve fried cheese curds too! Their house-made nan bread is delicious with their house-made dips. The lamb flat bread with Indian ingredients is a must have also.Traditional Cheeseburgers and hotdogs, served like you get the at the ball park or Indian style. There is also a Tandoori Chicken Gyro here. The drinks are fairly priced, and there is a good selection of draft beer.And this is a very Hockey centric bar. Games are on whenever they’re playing.There are some games like pool and air hockey, Trivia Night, Karaoke and Poker.“

“I'm not a fan of dive bars but this one in my neighborhood is a diamond in the rough. Maybe they can renovate to bring in a crowd but I do like how it's not too busy. It makes getting food and drinks not so stressful. The food is on another level with amazing combinations. All their fries and tots are delicious. Their duck wings are a must have and I enjoyed their shrimp burger. The drinks are tasty too and with enough alcohol to get you tipsy eventually. It's a fun place and glad to have it around.“

“If this place did not exist, one would need to invent it. The staff is very friendly with the owners being hands on. The atmosphere is bright and airy (even though there are no windows). The bar is very well equipped and the prices will not break anybody's bank. The food served whether or not free or sold is excellent. No bar food here - just good down home stuff.“

“Interesting pub with, what seems to be, a heavy locals gathering. It's a very small but cozy bar. They had karaoke the night I ventured in for a quick drink. The service was good, and the prices are decent. They have a small patio right outside the front door. Parking is very convenient. I could see my car from the inside of the establishment. I would definitely return if I happen to be in the area again. I like small places with a good air.“
“My favorite neighborhood bar. We love coming to hangout/play pool with a chill ambiance. Drinks are very decent for the prices they charge! Really only need 2/3 to do the job. It is dog friendly, so we always enjoy seeing the friendly pups roam around. Steve is our guy and never fails to take care of us.“

Reasonable booze prices, excellent service, clean well-stocked bathroom, and super-cool regulars (kind of an older crowd)---what more could you ask for? I'm in here during happy hour --- $4.25 Shiner and $2.75 Lone Star longnecks. This place is a gem! I have to remember to get in here whenever I'm on Hempstead Rd. “The "North Side" is one of the last oh the true Northside of Houston dive bars.The place where a fellow, or a gal can drop in after work where the room and the beer are both ice cold you can talk to another fella or gal who may or may not be your equal at a competitive company.Not to trade company secrets just to talk about what's what.A place where you might dance to the jukebox or shoot a little pool.Where good friends meet.Now that we've got Holly behind the bar it will be coming even better place.Holly is a good girl and a very professional Bar Tender. Many of her customers have followed her from her last place of employment.Although I'm not a drinker there are times when I want to get out and just socialize with people from the neighborhood. When times happen, I head over to the North Side Saloon.“
“My friend and I had the pleasure of finding this spot by accident. We stumbled in on a cold rainy night and met Andrew. He made us feel right at home and was friendly our entire stay. He is also very knowledgeable when it comes to drink making and produced a few great ones for me and my friend.“

“I found Velvet Oak Tavern on a Sunday morning while searching Google for a good brunch spot. Upon entering, I was greeted by the bartender who also seated me and took my drink and food order. The restaurant has a nice setup, and I'm sure it's the perfect place to watch sporting events. My order was not exactly what they had on the menu. I added a twist to mine, and I can't exactly remember what myself and the bartender did. However, when it came out, it was phenomenal! I was very impressed! You know it's good when you are dancing in your seat to no music! I loved the outside patio with the view of the street. It's perfect for people watching. I did notice they offered a military discount as I was leaving, which was a letdown, because I didn't know that prior to paying. I also didn't like the automatic gratuity added without knowing. If I'm ever in the area again. I'd stop in again and definitely take advantage of that discount.“
