“Honestly - the food was awesome and portions were solid, prices were totally fair if not cheap! The hot and sour soup was huge and was tasty. The eggplant was so good - whatever sauce they use was delicious. Mongolian beef was decent enough. I really enjoyed the Kung Pao Chicken though. The Bokchoy was light and fresh. The only weird thing was that is was deathly quiet during lunch time and no music playing to fill the voids.“
“This restaurant impressed me greatly. The interior is filled with traditional Chinese vibes. I really enjoyed their seafood soup and spicy diced chicken, which were delicious and juicy. The owner, William, cares deeply about customer experience, humbly asking for feedback. From the moment you enter until you leave full, you can feel the warmth and high-quality service. I will definitely visit again.“
“I've been to every Mala Sichuan Bistro. I think this is the first one, and it's my favorite. I'm always blown away by the food at every location, but this one is, far and away, the best one. If you like the mouth numbing Ma feeling, go for the dry pot beef or the crispy chicken. If you're more of a fan of Americanized Chinese, try the Mongolian beef.“
“The pan fried dumplings were huge. The shumai were very delicious ?, so tender. The beef fried rice was perfect, I couldn't stop eating it. All portions were large, especially the beef noodle soup ?. All of the food was tasty and had good size portions meant for sharing. The service was prompt and good.“
“My favorite Chinese in Houston. The hot pots and soup dumplings are delicious, and the garlic Bok Choy is legendary. I prefer spicier dishes, and everything I've had so far is excellent. No complaints. The portions are good for 2, so the overall value is great as well. Highly recommend!“
“This was my first order from Mala Sichuan and I was quite pleased with it.One thing I noticed was that there were NO Sichuan peppercorns in the Gong Bao Chicken.I’ve made Fuchsia Dunlop’s outstanding version many times and I missed that feeling of “ma”.Vegetarian options: Sichuan has a long tradition of vegetarian cooking.“
“New place for me to visit , pleasantly surprised by the location. Place looks hip, fun and family friendly. Decor was very original and pretty. The food is the tastiest I’ve had out here in a long time and the service was great definitely returning to try more ?Todays favesBlooming Flower teaHot and Spicy dumplings ?Dan Dan noodles ?“
“I enjoy coming to eat at MIAN. It's a comfy little spot and there's a variety of noodle dishes that I like to try. You can order by QR code by bringing up the menu. I recommend the beef noodles! I've been coming here for years and I plan to keep doing so.“
“A cozy restaurant with comforting food. We got the xiaolong bao, smoked duck, and mapo tofu. The duck was very crispy and piping hot, the xiaolong bao was delicious, and the tofu reminded my husband of home cooked Chinese food he had growing up. The mapo tofu was spicy, but only in the way that numbs your tongue and makes water taste salty. I’ve reviewed an American-style Chinese takeout restaurant, but this will be our go-to authentic Chinese restaurant going forward.“
“Had a hankering for fried rice. The rice was decent, kinda bland but still edible/good. Never had scallion pancakes before and that was pretty good as well. The only thing I noticed is my total. I paid $20.37 for a pickup order. But on the receipt upon receiving my order was $18.47. So that sends off red flags in my head. Probably won’t return because of that.“
“We love this place! It's family owned and the prices are very fair with the food being very good portion sized! The indoor seating is ample, but not ideal for large parties. We had a party of 8 last time and there's no round tables like most bigger Chinese restaurants so with the food places linearly on the table, it's hard to get the food from one end when you're sitting on the opposite end. The staff isn't overly friendly but that's ok. I'm used to that at Asian establishments in Bellaire but it isn't the worst I've experienced. They have a 10% off for take out orders on Yelp but the last time I tried it, the staff never heard of it and wouldn't apply it even when I showed them the discount on the Yelp app.“
“I’ve been to Taste of Mulan a few times and each time the food and the service exceeds my expectations. The people here are very friendly and their dim sum is better than the dim sum I’ve tried in China town. They have many options of dumplings which are available all day. I highly recommend this place!“
“(don’t mind me digging in before i took a picture) the actual plates are so cute; they spent money on cartoony cat bowls and the actual food was amazing. i don’t eat much normally but i finished all of my food in one sitting that’s how good it was!! i got the curry chicken ramen it was so filling and had lots of flavor and extras in bowl; it wasn’t plain at all. this place is completely underrated; i went in on a saturday afternoon and i was the only person there!! more people should be eating here. the service was obviously amazing there was only one person working but he made sure i was attended to“
“I ate here on a work trip, while craving Sichuan food. The restaurant was almost closing for the night, so we called to make sure they would still be open when we arrived, then ordered over the phone, because the chef was about to finish. When we pulled up, to our surprise a table had been set with all the dishes and a big bowl of rice, and my colleague and I were brought to our table! I still think about how kind and generous this gesture was, months later. The dishes were reliable and tasty Sichuan standards, particularly the laziji/chicken with chilis. I grew up in China, and the food here hit the spot while passing through Houston. Thank you for the hospitality!“
“Really amazing food. We went there for some dumpling soup but ended up ordering a lot more and were able to finish all of it with ease. The food was fresh, well made and authentic with lots of vegetarian options.Kid friendly, high chairs available.“
“Good food, great atmosphere and service. We ordered seafood dishes, twin pepper chicken and homing tofu. All dishes tasted great and really liked the pepper spice in the Dan Dan noodles. The only comment is the dishes are quite greasy. And there are barely any health friendly dishes. Overall a good place for a fun lunch or dinner with friends for tasty (but oily) sichuan food.“
“So far, anything I have tried has not disappointed. The service can not be beat. They are friendly and attentive. My drink was replenished constantly. They gave us some very helpful suggestions. Everything was flavorful and perfectly cooked. I will definitely become a regular at this place.“
“the culinary journey is nothing short of extraordinary. The rich, bold flavors of their spicy hot pot creations leave a lasting impression, and the attention to detail in both presentation and service sets this establishment apart. Each visit is a delightful exploration of Sichuan cuisine, making it a top-notch destination deserving of its five-star status.“
“First time here today, very authentic flavor. Had 20 Lamb Skews, and 10 Beef Skews. They were so good that we only remembered to take a picture after the meat are all gone!!! Very cool vibe. The service was fast, and the skews are tender and full of flavor. Will definitely come back again.Had to park a litter further and walk over, but it was all worth it.“
“Tried it for the first time yesterday. The variety of food was good, except for the sliced meat --- only lamb and beef to choose from, wish they had pork belly as well. Their sesame oil was quite good. There is also a seafood promotion where all the snow crablegs and raw oysters are unlimited at $10 each. But the whole table has to get the same promotion. Some items, such as spare ribs and cow stomach, need to be pre-cooked longer.Soda is by can and not from a dispenser, so no refills. $1.99 per can is outrageous. After we ate it for lunch, my mouth was filled with MSG all afternoon long--- must be quite a lot in the broth.“
“Amazing tastes. Many options. All halal options. Portion size is good. Prices has gone up a bit since last year. Average cost is $20 per person. After several years, now they are back to offer dine in option. However, they need to take more care of their tables. The restaurant looks old and feels old. Bathroom is not clean.“
“My friends and I ordered takeout from here on Chinese New Year. They are very bad about answering their phone, so we had to order in person. They managed to mess up our order (doubling a dish and forgetting a dish) but when I came the next day (couldn't call to inform them), they were quick to offer the replacement dish!As for the dishes, we got:-pineapple/steak fried rice (4/5)- popular dish among the party, unique but also could easily be homemade-sweet and sour eggplant (5/5)- so flavorful and well done, I'd definitely reorder-ginger fish (4/5)- could use a bit more flavor but I loved the texture and portion was great-sautéed lamb with cumin (4/5)- popular dish among the party, personally too spicy for me and my friend found it too salty-honey tofu sautéed ivy pork ribs (3/5)- I was excited for this dish but it was lacking in flavor and was incredibly one dimensional-dry fried green beans (5/5)- perfect complement to heavy protein dishes, nice crisp texture“
“This is a hidden gem in the northwest Houston area and has been a great little restaurant for us to find gluten-free Chinese food at. We particularly love their dry fried spicy fish, wood ear mushrooms, and shrimp rolls! Highly recommend. We'll be back again!#glutenfreeDietary restrictions: Gluten free options available“
“Solid Chinese restaurant with decent size portions. The service was friendly and attentive. Spacious dining area. The Mongolian beef and chicken was tasty. The green beans were flavorful and the eggplant was soft and delicious. Plenty of parking.“
“PLEASE READ THIS. I need to make it clear that some of the idiots who are reviewing this place are clearly uneducated/uncultured people. They don’t understand the concept of authentic “mala cuisine” which encompasses the numbing sensation in your mouth due to Sichuan peppercorns.I never make reviews, but I need to make it clear that this is one of the best food I’ve ever had in houston, being a local resident my entire life. For all the people who said this was “disgusting”, I’m sorry you don’t understand how food is intended at certain cuisines. But your uneducated reviews are harming the potential for GOOD cultured food. Please educate yourself before throwing reviews that can harm local businesses.“
“Xiaolong Dumpling is truly a delight! The mapo tofu tastes like childhood. So fresh, so delicious, yet so quick! It tastes like home. They're also the only Chinese food place I've found since going gluten free that's GF friendly - they use tamari soy sauce! GF Chinese food! ...Heaven!!“
